With news like this: www.coindesk.com/germanys-government-media-bolstering-bitcoin-popularity/I'm tempted to move to Germany and start The MΣCCA in Berlin.. a futuristic cyberpunk bar where you pay with MΣC. I could see a initial phase where you could pay with fiat or MΣC, but moving towards only MΣC and creating a culture of crypto. Paper wallets would be awesome for something like that though. And of course an iOS/Android app. I already thougt about a paperwallet-creator directly integrated into the MEC Client. How about that? (HELLO KIMOTO!) ;-) What do you think? Another thoug was security, how about using a custom file for the wallet. Would prevent maybe some wallet stealer apps from steal the wallet. Like you rename the wallet.dat to mycash.jpg in a directory of choice. shouldnt be a problem to code that. not bomb secure, but a little enhancement. so you needn't use the standard directory and you can point to your own directory, maybe on a truecrypt drive or similar. (HELLO KIMOTO!) MECACOIN would have this enhancements first (again)!!! Another reason why MEAGACOIN belongs on top of other coins

Another reason why MEAGACOIN belongs on top of other coinsActually just changing the standard directory will throw most AutoStealing scripts off if you are worried. only a more sophisticated trojan that searched the registry could find the new directory. I DO LIKE the idea of being able to manage MULTIPLE WALLETS FROM ONE INSTANCE of the WalletAPP. and if you could alter the extension for backup wallets to anything you like (maybe even alt-256,alt-256,alt-256) from within the password protected section of the wallet - who could guess the extension you choose??? ie. - *.tim, *.mny etc. -digeros PS but you can do this extension change manually as well - possibly a good idea on a portable wallet on USB for wide travel.

Megacoin has been in a narrow trading range with upward pressure for a while now. I think the price will start to move higher looking for more suckers. Friends are still liquidating Litecoin...

I'm not new to mining, I'd hope by now I know how to set up, tune and troubleshoot a stable mining rig. You still have not put forward a valid reason as to how you believe a rig that can pool mine a coin indefinitely suddenly develops these suspected hardware instabilities from solo-mining the exact same coin. Anyway, after trawling way back in this thread here's another chap with what appears to be a very similar issue: wow, I just solo mined a diff 350 block!

You can see it's intermittent. Restarting the miner has no effect. Only restarting the qt client. megacoind has the same issue iirc. I'm running four cgminer instances plus one perl script polling stats every five minutes. (note: when the four miners are connected, the qt-client refuses the perl connection for stats (times out)) I do not have this issue with other coin qt clients. Please look into it if you can. Thanks I'm done losing uptime over it, I'll just stay in a pool, but instead of being told I'm wrong I thought someone might be interested enough to look into it. I noticed that the change in the script algo from shifting from other coin mining or attempting to comine two incompatible coins on the GPU's - caused my drivers to crash and I had to reinstall drivers. Later I found that if you turn off all GPU mining for a few moments then relaunch mining with just one coin that sometimes reloaded the drivers and I got all my hashrate back. Hope that Helps - digeros

As we speak... Will launch with Megacoin exclusively. AWESOME A CRYTO GATEWAY CAN I SELL WEBSITE ACCESS?? On the TRADING FRONT:: Seems some pee pole are possibly also liquidating Feathercoin... network hashrate has halved in last week from 10Gh/s to 5Gh/s. Even Litecoin is showing network shift / decline. - digeros... Of the coins "from that Generation" the winner will seem to be NOvaCoin but we will see if that too will survive the Third Generation Alt-Coins like MegaCoin. I Consider the vast majority of scam coins as Second Generation Alt-Coins - bad hacks / pump and dumps and premining scams. The third Generation are created by real programmers with legit launches and exploring legit variations on the BlockChain "theme" and algo's to stablize coin creation, transaction validation and all the other little things we want from a crypto-currency --- Just my Opinion. -digeros

Anyone else notice "PfizerVenture" is mining at almost every MegaCoin pool? Even Viagra wants in on MegaCoin!
interesting, Pfizer has a venture capital arm called Pfizer Venture Investments.
THis needs more exploration... Anyone willing to do a PirateMyFilm Journalist Expose on this... What if we discover that big investors are starting to put BIG money into Crypto... That could be a FrontPage Story.... ---- Digeros PS. I will donate 50 MEC to the Production of this Journalist Story.

But at launch you will be able to use the gateway API to do pretty much anything you can think of (or can program into your service) (think Bitpay...).

No need. MΣC is advertising itself for now As for the lottery, I had trouble entering my address as well. Simply pasting the address there and hitting ENTER solved it. Though sadly I was using IE as workaround. Not sure if my Comodo Dragon would've done the same. Too late now to try that. Spent all my coins gambling. Well, at least the coins I made this morning.

That could be a FrontPage Story.... ---- Digeros PS. I will donate 50 MEC to the Production of this Journalist Story. I checked into it a bit a couple days ago -- they're mining a lot of Megacoin but it also appears they're mining LTC at wemineltc.com...which makes it slightly less exciting. I believe their plan is to experiment with investing in companies using Crypto currency...since Pfizer Venture Capital wouldn't be creating their own fund/etc you wouldn't think. Just from what I can see publicly on pools, they have over 100 Mh/s which seems like small potatoes to them but is fairly significant if they threw it all into MegaCoin. From what I can see, they're still mining at 2 MegaCoin pools at ~8 Mh/s each. Somebody under the handle "PVCap" bought 10,000 BTC at MtGox about 3 weeks ago...which is probably them as well. At this point...it's all speculation. The only thing that I can confirm is that VCs and Angel Investors are growing extremely interested in crypto currency -- at my last meeting with our investor we barely even talked about my company -- they just wanted to talk about Bitcoins. It's pretty obvious there's going to be some big money pouring into this market soon...which can only be good for those of us that got in early. I'm surprised that they would even bother with mining, to be honest -- with power costs it's not even that much more cost-effective than buying it. Perhaps there just wasn't enough Megacoin out there for them to buy (at least at the right price) -- that's my problem. I want to buy...but it's difficult to buy in large quantities.

Edit: I want to add that I don't agree with his conclusions about MEC. I'm very pro MEC but just wanted to post this here to allow others to counter Hazard's arguments and not give him more credit than he deserves. It wasn't well thought out by me and kind of backfired (as you can read in the below discussion with bholzer). http://cryptolife.net/the-anatomy-of-a-scamcoin-7-things-to-know-before-investing-in-an-altcoin/Megacoin is mentioned in a few examples: 1) disproportionate coin generation: "Megacoin: 50% of all coins will be generated during the first 5 months. The rest will be generated over the next couple of decades." 2) developer incompetence: "Megacoin: Initial client released using same ports as Litecoin. Developer refused to admit this was a problem for weeks until he caved and issued a patch."
