yep, welcome back everyone.  Cool

so I think the next step to make megacoin a functional currency that people can actually use in the real world is to develop a software program that allows a customer to bring his thumb drive, plug it in and access his portable wallet using his password, and send a MΣC payment to the retailer's megacoin address.

eventually a specialized machine can be developed for megacoin retail transactions, but for now it would be good to just have a program to run on a laptop that would be functional to be able to offer customers the option of paying in MΣC instead of USD.

I think businesses would love it. the sooner we get a megacoin economy rolling, the more likely MΣC will become a (THE) major contender. what do y'all think?

That would be great, but if I remember well, there is already a payment processor in progress by some member here.

I think there are at least 3 or 4 big things in the works that will be ready in the near future. For now get all the MΣC you can before the next block reduction.  Grin

fantastic! yea, now's a great time to buy, I'm recommending it to my friends.

Yes, payment gateway is being developed right now.

Currently I am waiting on the Java developer (my project partner) to get a move on...

Well, it's a teeny tiny market compared to bitcoin.. and even bitcoin is highly volatile. So what can you expect from any altcoin except a wild and manipulated rollercoaster ride?

Works for me. I'd rather mine at a lower difficulty until the block rewards hit 25 at least. I'm holding off on buying for a while (I've bought a ton haha -- some higher...some lower.) Buying at Cryptsy in a decent quantity is just a nightmare. They allow sell orders as low as 0.1 MΣC at a time...so when I place an MΣC buy order worth 1 BTC...it has to chew through hundreds (or even thousands) of sell orders, as small as 0.1 MΣC each, sometimes taking 30 minutes to fill my buy order and completely locking up MΣC trading. Also...sell orders can be removed and re-added higher to match my buy price during that window...because the system is so slow it allows that to happen. Basically...I'm tired of buying over there in general. They're going to throw more hardware at the problem...but it's a band-aid -- the issue is allowing people to place sell orders worth fractions of a penny each. Auto-sells just trickle everything out...bots make everything a mess. Just not a professional way to exchange currency over there.

Right now, it's pretty nice pulling in 3000-4000 MΣC/day mining when I was getting half that a week ago when it was valued higher. With the multi-pools/profit-hoppers out there, the difficulty is always tied directly to Cryptsy's price.

More important would be getting MΣC listed on some alternative exchanges. mcxnow, vircurex, or better-yet btc-e. There, we could get the volume needed to stabilize things a bit. There is a lot more money in the MΣC community than most altcoins...and as such, Cryptsy is a horrible place to trade. It's designed around trades worth pennies and they likely won't change because their current method works great for Vern's auto-selling mining pools. Upgraded hardware may make things faster for a while...but it doesn't solve the real problem.

Also, the fact that ANC seems to be implementing the "gravity well" now too just goes to show how Kimoto knows what he's doing.
Some people seem to think that because he borrowed from J-coin's SSDRA that it somehow makes it less impressive. It's not.
Many coins could benefit from this, but how many devs actually have the open mindedness and understanding to actually see the benefit and implement it?

There's a reason that MEC and ANC are in my avatar. The devs make the coin, along with the community.

Haha what a loser.

In other news, I opened up a dialog with mcxNOW regarding the addition of Megacoin. It would be nice having an alternative to the mess that is Cryptsy when trading.

Hey Hazard,

Can I purchase that ad spot at the bottom of your page if I fill it with MEC advertising?  Smiley

Also I am wondering how long 1000 impressions would last at the traffic rate your website is currently experiencing.

Anybody notice how every post/reply on Hazard's latest blog entry is dated "October 1st" -- that's what happens when you try to artificially change the date you posted an article and forget to switch it back. What an honest guy! He really pays attention to detail, I see Cheesy

If Megacoin is "a Litecoin clone" what the hell does he call every other Scrypt-based PoW coin? And even if it was, (which it isn't,) who cares? Haha.

Could you imagine making baseless accusations and false claims for nearly 5 months trying to damage the reputation of something with nothing to gain from it? If he would have just shut the hell up and started mining/buying Megacoin and contributing to the community positively he'd be well on his way to becoming a Megacoin millionaire (he was obviously around early.) At the very least, you'd think he'd just move on.

The guy bleeds negative energy and only knows how to tear down -- he lacks the ability to create or innovate so this is all he has left. Negative energy people always end up depressed and poor in the end (millions of examples) -- guess I'll take solace in that. Also, anybody with actual knowledge on the topics he posts about likely visit his blog for nothing more than a good laugh.

Well said, however look at the message history of bholzer, and see how much "negative energy" this guy made towards many altcoins, "trying to damage the reputation of something with nothing to gain from it". See how this asshole did them and it is absolutely ridiculous now that such a person starts to accuse others with these arguments. What a joke it is.

I was pushing back against the ongoing scams by the developer you follow around (he always creates a new username for each coin launch.) He creates a new coin, you guys mine it and promote it and aggresively campaign to have it added to Cryptsy, then within a couple days of being added the price is pumped up and everyone in on it dumps on naive/misled investors. The dev then walks away, the coins become virtually worthless, and you guys all cease the endless promotion. This all happens fast...although with Cryptsy being slightly more selective it's not as easy as it once was.

This hurts the reputation of the entire altcoin community. I was tired of the same guy/group getting away with the same scam over and over. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, you guys pulled it off again with ELP. ELP even premined tens of thousands of blocks worth of coins. I started out trying to help the ELP community...but I quickly realized most of you were already in on the scam.

I didn't make baseless assumptions and accusations -- I stated only facts. Guess what? Everything played out just like I predicted...and a lot of people got screwed.

I think the difference between myself, bholzer, and others that are critical of pointless junk coins is we don't spend a lot of time trying to convince anyone. There is a big difference in offering our opinion, and constantly harassing followers of a certain coin. You would have to be completely clueless not to see the difference!

Sure, I won't stop you Cheesy Probably around 3 days at the current rate.

Anybody notice how every post/reply on Hazard's latest blog entry is dated "October 1st" -- that's what happens when you try to artificially change the date you posted an article and forget to switch it back. What an honest guy! He really pays attention to detail, I see Cheesy
It's actually an issue with the theme/one of my plugins. Haven't pinpointed it yet. Don't really care either.

Ah -- the old "incorrect date" plugin. Yeah -- I'd uninstall that one  Grin

I like how you guys think I specifically target megacoin, when I've opened fire at several other coins also well (including the beloved litecoin). You guys give yourself way too much credit. Any coin that violates that criteria I've laid out is fair game.

Yeah but you've had a hard-on for Megacoin from day 1, man. Literally day 1. Obviously you're going to mix other coins into the pot -- it's your attempt to cleverly disguise your true reason for starting the blog: Megacoin. If all you posted about was Megacoin, it would be easy for people to call you out on your bias. But you're too smart for that -- you're a clever mastermind...so you lace your blog with posts about obvious scams like Goldcoin and a hard-hitting SR article and suddenly "everything is fair game." Nobody has ever thought of that technique! Your blog is the National Enquirer of altcoins...the only difference being nobody reads it.

And to the guy who posted the ridiculously long comment (like, ten times longer than the damn article), tldr. If you're so intent on writing a massive wall of text, post it on the forums.

Sucks looking ignorant on your own blog, I'm sure. It's smart of you to implement comment moderation when you are making blatant, false claims.
