Hardware:
We have encountered overheating issues with the capacitors placed in 4 groups of 8 between the chips on H-cards. This shouldn't affect any orders shipped in august. We have not had any serious issues apart that the caps run extremely hot (up to 250°C). This is clearly a malfunction and we're not sure what is causing this. There shouldn't be a risk of fire as these are ceramic capacitors, but we decided to try removing them. (They boards seem to actually work better without these caps :

Any chance of some photos just because yay photos?

Just one silly question about this: are the orders being updated on our account page like you did for the August orders ?

Thanks for reminding Smiley

Back when I was torturing my board, after I fried it, one did go missing and the corresponding chip is dead.. just wondering if theres a way ro revive it. Im thinking of soldering the points on that together. But as usual I know very little of what Im working with Smiley

The chips can function ok with as little as 2 bypass caps per side.

Maybe just a really unfortunate case of parasitic oscillation? Maybe the problem will disappear if you only remove 2 caps from each group and leave six in place? That would save some time too Smiley

Really?  Is no one questioning why it's suddenly ok to yank half of the components off of the H boards?  Do we need to worry that our old H boards are going to spontaneously combust and burn our houses down?

You can sell them to me as junk, I promise to take good care of them if you worry too much  Cool

Seriously, this cap problem has not been reported on any of the August batch boards, you can see failing caps in just a day as they turn totally black.

Thank you for explaining that to me!  No worries then.  But I'll keep a small fire extinguisher next to my August boards just in case.  Wink

No problems here with my August boards - caps are pretty warm but not as hot as the chips.  Are we sure they didn't mix up the parts and end up building these with resistors in the place of bypass caps?

Why in the world would a bypass cap heat up like that - short of there being an awful lot of AC present?  Leaky?  Way over-voltage?  Just plain-old wrong part placed?  Is there suddenly a world-wide shortage of EE's such that nobody with the required expertise can look to see what's going on?

Russian design.  Probably works better with only 1/2 the parts in place...

Quote from "Armagedon" movie:
"American components, Russian components, all made in Taiwan!!"

Under development Modular UPGRADEABLE Miner (MUM). Looking for investors.
Changing one PCB with screwdriver and you have brand new miner in hand... Plug&Play, scalable from one module to thousands.

@-Redacted-: Don't bother to respond you are on ignore already, I wouldn't see this above if it was not quoted.
