Here is Dero's official statement regarding ASICs: We are aware of their existence and once the appropriate information is available we can deal with them. Without providing technical details we do have a fairly strong idea of how these are built and what they're built with.
Information will be shared publicly regarding exactly how these ASICs work once people around the world get their hands on them to take them apart. If by some small chance the CryptoNight community does not work together to solve this problem (that would be a FIRST) I will personally drop the $20,000 USD to buy the 3 well advertised ASICs to let our developers literally tear them apart and you can hold me to that.
Hi Serena, Since DERO has been rewriting cryptonight in golang for a while now, would a change to prevent ASICs take even longer for DERO to adopt? Most other cryptonight coins can just copy/paste the new algo and be done since they are just clones for the most part. Would it be wise for DERO to start now? CryptoNight is the proof-of-work algo for the CryptoNote protocol A change to the POW will not take longer at this time for Dero and has been on the radar for quite some time.

Please delete your p2pstate.bin file and your imbd folder in your programdata folder followed by a restart of your computer. From there, please choose the appropriate download, extract the files, and add admin permissions if applicable. Once there please start derod and wait for the daemon to fully synchronize. https://github.com/deroproject/dero/releases

With the Q1 roadmap complete well ahead of schedule we can start looking forward to Q2. Smart contract development is imminent and preparations to transition to Dero's upgraded blockchain are underway. The transition should be quite smooth and your Dero will be preserved without extra effort on the part of the individual. You will simply have to update to the new version and your Dero will be waiting for you (this means there is no swap required)

Hi ALL, First transaction created & transferred using Golang Dero wallet and accepted by DERO Mainnet Network successfully. Just for historic records TXID : https://explorer.dero.io/tx/ad080e796ef82d73b2ee54d3133bc3b9d883910d03001296150d96f29547d01bTx has 1 Input and 1 Output, ie no change. Size 6.6KB. Transfer all from one wallet to another wallet was used. CryptoNote Protocol Golang implementation is completed. Testing/auditing in progress. CryptoNote Protocol is amazing & complex. Would like to thank and appreciate CryptoNote Protocol Developers. DERO CryptoNote Protocol will have major changes from here in coming times as we evolve and implement Smart Contracts. Thanks everyone for believing and supporting us, Hope to deliver one of the best and secure day to day utility Blockchain Technology. Thanks. Regards. Capt. D What a good news

Hello everyone, I'm excited to announce that as of this morning we can consider the Dero CryptoNote protocol complete and it's going through the final phases of testing. This puts Dero more than 2 weeks ahead of their Q1 (Jan.1 - Mar.31) roadmap goals.
I also just got word from SouthXchange that Dero has moved from "in queue" to the start of the build process on their end.
Regarding ASICs, Dero is taking a wait and see approach until technical details are available but we will deal with them promptly when firm information becomes available. Adjusting to the new CryptoNight PoW is a reasonably fast adjustment if that is the appropriate course of action.
We've been overwhelmed with questions about smart contracts among other features and we can now safely say that development of features on the Q2 roadmap are imminent and will possibly start just a little bit early. I will not be releasing any details early or discussing them in any way until our developers choose to do so. That being said, please keep a close eye on our progress as Capt.Dero provides us all with all the trailbreaking updates Q2 aims to bring.
The reason I used the @everyone tag (Slack and Discord only) just now is to let everyone know that there will be a new release of Dero for everyone to upgrade to soon so please keep an eye on any of our official channels for the launch of Dero's CryptoNote protocol.
Your Dero will transition safely and no swap will be required. The new daemon also syncs faster and uses fewer resources to do so. In addition, many of the issues we've seen on the old chain were addressed by the development team at the source in derosuite (golang version).
Regards everyone, Serena
(Please remember that all credit goes to our amazing development team!)

Could be the Baikal Giant N entering the market and allowing asic miners to target (non-Monero) cryptonight coins.

The technology of the coin is steep, a hybrid of Monero and bytecoin. In general, what is needed. Where and on which exchanges can I buy?

Dero is currently traded on Stocks.Exchange and our listing on SouthXchange should be done any time now

Could be the Baikal Giant N entering the market and allowing asic miners to target (non-Monero) cryptonight coins. BitMain announced yours CN ASIC Miner X3 220KHs at 550W. Gian N is past now.

Can someone please explain to me (or point me towards information) about why the payments system with dero is ifferent than other cryptonight coins.
I've set up a pool and after finding our first block, we kept failing to pay miners due to tx issue (something about insufficient funds). I traced the problem and the issue is to do with the number of payees. You need to have enough balance in the pool wallet x2 to be able to pay properly for each mined block.
The return funds from a transaction need to come back before they can be spent again. This is different than other coins and I'm not sure why it is so can someone please help explain.
So if I mined 1 block with a reward of 30 and I owe two miner 15, I can only pay one of them until the unspent funds come back to my pool wallet. Is this the correct behavior?
ALSO: I've noticed all blocks only have one transaction in them - why is this?

This has been discussed already numerous times, dig this thread for more details. Join over slack there are several POOL operators who would be more than happy to help you. Also find working Pool code/config https://github.com/deroproject/node-cryptonote-pool Meanwhile also read about CryptoNote Protocol if you want more understanding of CN behavior.

You only need a little bit of extra to fuel the pool payments. You don't need 2x, just wait for another few blocks and it should function normally from then on

So Serena tells me I lost coins while mining on the official pool while there were forking issues.
Have others experienced this? I continued mining during the forking crisis specifically because Capt Dero said that we should continue mining on the official pool then. I could have pointed my miners elsewhere but wanted to continue supporting the community during that period.
Now I seem to have lost 12.2 Dero. Not the end of the world, but annoying especially considering I thought it was safe and beneficial/supportive to be mining on the official pool then.
Hi @fellestreum, Pls can you PM me your wallet address and rough time period to dig deeper. Since I announced mined on official POOL only, Only Official chain was used and there seem to be no issue. But I will be glad to dig more. You are welcome and I am Sorry for Inconveniences during that period. I don't speak much about our upgrades/updates but just to speak specifically about fork issue, we have optimized the code so hope never to see any fork again. Also many may have noticed the chain syncing time reduced a lot. We hope to keep it less than 1 hour in future too. I was away and that was very bad time BUT bad time makes strong men and DERO has been much stronger now. After coming back, for next 72hrs we wrote new P2P layer for DERO and its working flawlessly since then. We are still working on P2P code to make it the most efficient and resilient P2P layer of any blockchain. We are working on every minute part step-by-step and you will see no shortcuts in DERO. Just to add CryptoNote implementation in Golang is complete and undergoing testing. Thanks. Regards. Capt. D Thanks to CaptDero for attending to this issue promptly and crediting the missing Dero (sorry I am a few days late with this response - it really was prompt, almost immediate). Pity investigating the underlying issue is too complicated to get into now. But anyway, thanks again and also to the great team behind this coin. Thanks Serena too for your responses.
