Which is a safe coin to invest in the long term?
How long should I hold it?

Is there a risk that I might lose it all?

I am a noob in cryptocurrencies. Help.  Huh

I was thinking Litecoin, is it a good idea?
This is no guarantee if you will loss money or profit. This kind of investment always involve loss of money opportunity.
Be ready please. If you are ready i will suggest you to invest in etherium for long term.

If I had such a sum, I would choose several ICOs. I like Elastos and Stroiqa. But I'm not yet experienced in terms of investment. Of course, I would not have invested the entire amount.

First I would advise you 2 learn the theme of cryptocurrency. 2 understand a difference between them. At that rate you will be able to accept decision independently.

LTC from post 1 is good
and also so much suggestion from this thread is interesting, but the real value depend on the market supply and demand
but for me, to invest in long term is good at ICO
but make sure to join the best ICO you can find
check other opinion from bitcointalk and other website

All the time is better to do your own research ( DYOR)

As a recomandation you may start searching for MWAT (Restart Energy Democracy) which promisse to revolutionize energy industry on blockchain. (MWAT token is backed up by real energy, having a company behind that is licensed on providing energy in European Union ).
They are in pre-ICO still - 60% from total sold out

Well, the best thing to do if you want to invest in a long term investment. I refer to you on https://coinmarketcap.com there you can choose top 10 coin they are good investment for long term. Because if choose only one that is difficult to gain profit the gaurantee far from earnings.

I was thinking Litecoin, is it a good idea?

It is best to diversify, increased your chance of a coin hitting it big and mitigates risk. However, long term safe coin with also with a high upside is NEO. It was is the same as Etherum but faster, free to send, backed heavily by the Chinese government which will be the fist country to full adopt blockchain in many peoples opinion. Both ether and NEO have 100 million coins. Neo is $140 ETH is $1100 USD, since it does what ether does and better its more than plausible that one day it over takes ETH in price and market cap. Some coins that were developing on ETH, switched to NEO. Neo is still in the early stages coins just started being built on its platform. Should have a huge year and very minimal risk.

Also I dont like LTC at all but maybe thats just me. The owner, had a fishy connection with coinbase, he was a top person there, convinced them to list LTC, it climbed in price very high. He then sold all his coins at the top and said it was a conflict of interest for him to have them. The price has never been as high as when he sold them. But it wasn't a conflict of interest for him to work at coinbase convince them to list his coin, and then sell it and an ATH by far? Sketchy insider trading IMO, after the bitconnect fiasco, I cant have any respect for LTC (it is not a scam like bitconnect) but the creator, played everyone.

It's good to put that in eth, btc, and that's because the coins are great for you to wait for only a few months or a year you can earn a lot of coins that are good for potential research.

Invest 80% of that fund into ethereum and 20% of the remaining balance into bitcoin. Put your coin in cold wallet and go about your business. After three years, come back for your investment and  I am sure you will be glad with what you will see.

for beginners, putting money into the Big Three should be quite a safe bet. BTC, ETH, LTC. don't expect any of those to crash, and will likely appreciate with time.

aside, XMR is a good underdog as a privacy coin, which I personally like a lot.

Edit: I guess... I should also add that I've recently come to suspect that LTC may be undervalued. for whatever weaknesses BTC may have in the short term (high transaction fees), LTC is able to perform that function exactly as that - low fees, fast confirmation speed. In the long term, LTC tracks BTC's developmental roadmap closely, which means that LTC will always keep with BTC's pace and the same BTC upgrades can be applied to LTC. there isn't much in the way of a downside.

It is possible to invest this amount in bitcoin, especially now it's a very good time to do this, because bitcoin sank in price but fell lower it probably will not be, further only growth. I would advise you to pay attention to appcoin, the team burned a large amount of tokenov, now the price should only grow, I think token will do x10.

if you are looking for where to invest money for a long time, look ahead of all on the fundamental projects. This should be a blockade, such as Ethereum, NEO, NEM, Cardano. My personal choice - NEM. The project always showed itself only from the best side and its prospects are enormous

$12,000 is a lot of money but if you're going to invest it into Cryptocurrency then it's a good idea.
You should divide your portfolio and for me I don't skip Bitcoin, Ethereum and LiteCoin because these three coins have good chances to pump all the way to the moon and Mars.

Just don't put it all in one coin, try spreading it across bitcoin, ethereum and maybe a few alts if you feel confident (I would advise you to check out Waves for example).
