First I want to say that there is a risk in any cryptocurrency.
I would advise you to invest something like this:
50% in Bitcoin;
25% in Litecoin;
25% in the Ethereum.
I think that it is necessary to make long-term investments in these crypto-currencies.

Wow this is the good one in terms of the comments I had read so far. Very safe bet indeed. I will not waste my time on the other coins. Though I would say Cardano is also my safe bet and NEO though I will not go all in on these coins.

I know about a potential altcoin, but it is also risky. I have observed a lot about GVT. It is a good altcoin although it does not attract many investors to participate in the project when putting up on the trading platform it is great when it goes up quickly. And it is less affected by the risks from the market when it goes down.
