But, because of H2o his communication I have switched everything back to the US pool. Hopefully he will do the update with the 0.6% bug Smiley

I am still confused why people think H20 "owes" anyone anything, or "cost" them money... if you don't like the pool anymore, please leave, and stop cluttering up this thread.  My ignore list is getting really long.

To answer some questions:

This is my fulltime job. I work way more than 40 hours a week. I also have two part time employees. It would be nice to hire more, but there are trust issues, so I only work with friends.
thanks for this.  i remember you checking in and tweaking stuff on xmas day.  You've consistently gone above and beyond for this pool many times, and dote on the backend at all hours.

Thanks for the Dropbox links. Hope it helps the 15% drop I'm getting on the us server compared to before Xmas.

H2o, .6% would be a great improvement for me. Lol.

I'm a noob just starting, all donations are welcome.  13DXKRXQncUnWAFtemSwNH7boRZfEfsg5a

The address 1xowiTAdUeux71ExGmSW6qK5FPrGDa3Mp is a transaction "refund".

The US pool isn't any worse than it was before. It's just switching more, which is fine except for the disconnects it's causing.

I'm close to finishing the new tech that doesn't disconnect on coin switches, but it's losing 0.6% of hashrate due to a bug. It might be worth rolling out anyway, with this bug.

I'm losing 6-7% of hashrate now because of instability. I'll take .6 while you work on it without a question.

Agreed, I am probably down in the 5-10% range the past few days since the issues popped up. 0.6% would be negligible compared to what most of us have seen.

For those of you who do "nothing", well, speak for yourselves only.

Agreed, my hashrate has been hosed down ~5% since these issues began. 0.6% would be a great improvement until the bug can be fixed.

Also, a break on fees would indeed be a nice gesture due to the above.

There are currently some network issues with coin switching. It occasionally doesn't switch, and hangs for 20 seconds or so. This seems to happen once in every 5 switches or so.

I'm working on a fix, but in the mean time if you want a workaround, and you can are ok with recompiling cgminer, you can:

in https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/util.c

change:

Code:
const int tcp_keepidle = 45;
const int tcp_keepintvl = 30;
to:

Code:
const int tcp_keepidle = 5;
const int tcp_keepintvl = 4;

These occur twice in the file.

Thanks to `Kevin on IRC for this.

Does anyone know whether the above changes are the same as the 5-minute failover interval that is discussed at below links?  Just wondering if there are additional improvements that can still be made.

They're not the same. The keepalive changes only modify how long it takes before a dead connection is discovered.

You can find the failover interval value in the code section after the "Only switch pools if the failback pool has been" comment in cgminer.c.
It's 300 seconds by default, but I've lowered it to 60 seconds in my version.

Which file do I edit? Do you just open it with notepad? I'd rather modify it myself than download somebody else's update, no offense.

None taken. But you realize you have to recompile the program after these changes? It isn't just some configuration file you're changing, it's hard coded in the binary.

Agreed.

Most of us have spent good $ on these efforts. I would bet that almost everyone here are still not profitable.

I make daily profit from the US server every day i've mined here, so let me know what you bet.

if you are losing money on 4% fees + 0.6% inefficiency, your margins are too slim to justify mining.

Ah never done that before, I'm sure I could figure it out but I'm feeling more lazy and I'll just switch pools until the issues are resolved

I think a temporary reduced pool fee would be a good business decision for H2O because it would increase loyalty to the pool and generate him more money in long-term.

Yes most pools owners reduce fees when problems occur. I mined at middlecoin for two weeks and was happy, i will return when everything gets fixed.
