I paid for one fully assembled board on August 10th and just sent BTC for 16 more chips. I'll send more for the assembly cost of two more boards in a week or two.
Thanks!

Any plans for a "full kit" type miner that does not require a USB connection ?

What cooling is needed for the board?

Will be handling Drillbit System UK/EU replacement components soon (waiting to confirm details, stay tunes) If I helped you and could pop me some treats for this Christmas, donate some BTC to: 1QEhKaUnFoEBaWmXsrE5AUvbAt95254DXr

Buy a Raspberry Pi like everyone else does. I intend to use my old Dell Mini 9. 5~6W at idle with networking and the screen off, and ~7W with light browser usage and the screen always on but at minimum brightness. Not too shabby for x86 and a first gen Atom on 945GM. We are also looking at a standalone GUI to give you direct control over various parts of the board, allowing you to easily adjust voltage and overclocking of the chips.
Barntech
Any word on what platform this software will run on? Windows and/or linux? x86 and/or ARM? Or will it simply rely on cgminer to make those adjustments? I'm just curious as I've never had any luck getting GPU vCore settings for my HD7950's to stick in cgminer. Always needed to use Afterburner/Trixx.

That would be unrelated, GPUs use the ATI library and if the ATI library doesn't support something, that is ATI's fault. The extra programs that allow you to avoid the ATI limitations indeed are custom and not OS independent, the ATI library is. In cgminer I talk directly to the USB devices and can use any USB control necessary as required by the firmware e.g. in the BitBurner we use control transfers to set and get the voltage and that's available via the API also at any time while cgminer is running However, regarding cgminer support, I've no idea ... I'm awaiting a reply from Barntech

Hi flemeister, The cgminer program will run under all currently supported OS of cgminer as with other boards. I have a HP Pavilion running my USB block erupters and everything runs fine. There will be some custom settings and parameters for the drillbit boards, but you'll be provided with everything you need to get up and running from the day you get your unit, Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi (which is Linux) and Mac OS. Just remember the thumbs (1 chip) will require a powered USB hub able to provide 500-900ma per card. Regards Nexus

Why does the first post still say: "shipping prices to be updated shortly"?
If I order through PayPal will shipping prices be automatically added?

They probably wont be added until the shipping prices are finalized. Even then it may be we have to pay for shipping separate. Also Barn, Is the 8 chip board designed for the Raspberry Pi or does it have a usb port? If either way I may end up changing my order to an 8 chip board assuming I can secure funds for one. (~$400 income with $300 for gas and bills doesnt leave much lol ) Edit: lol my bad I just answered my own question. I just noticed what looks to be a USB connector near the backplane connector. And just read about the USB connector

if it is designed to be used with raspberry pi are we going to have instructions on how to run these boards?
I never used a raspberry pi before i am interested in learning how to use one

Have you bothered to read the first post in this thread especially the section called "Introducing the DrillBit System" It's not designed to specifically run with a Raspberry Pi, but it can certainly be run with one. Instructions would be beyond the topic of this thread.

Barntech,
Nice jobs for the Drillbit board!! it is beauty, would you do a picture of hook up of the 4 board for better understanding?
it is interesting to have more clearing picture on it. Hope this request will not bring too much work load.
Cheers up

Is my math off, or this this much more expensive than from megabigpower or bitfurystrikesback?
Can have some numbers? 8000$ for 400GH here https://megabigpower.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=53 equals 20$ for a GH and with 16x16 = 256 chips a 31.25$ per 55nm Bitfury chip. * Updates Aug 8th
- Board and Assembly prices are now up.
- 8 chip Drillbit Board (including chips) - $300
- 1 chip Drillbit Thumb (including chip) - $99
[/list] 8 chips represent 8*2.7 = 21.6GH and cost 300$ so 13.88$ for a GH or 37$ per chip. I must admit that the OC capabilities probably make good for the up charge per chip...

I wouldn't run at 2.7GH/s just because someone has managed that on a test setup. That's a serious overclock, the chips are designed to run at around 2GH/s

However if it was top pads ID throw on a water block and cool it that way. Lol
