i have a bit of a strange question, sorry if it has already been asked before.

wanted to know if one of these boards can be run some other way other than a molex connector (e.g. some kind of laptop plugpack or something)

reason for me asking is that i have only 1 blade on order - i currently run my usb farm off raspberry pi's (i have a very power inefficient AMD pc so like to leave it off during the day), rather than having to use my pc i would like to run the blade of my Rasp Pi and somehow power it from a different source other than molex.

i guess it all depends on what kind of voltages and power i need to this board, im taking a rough guess with 8 chips (usb ones=500mah x 8 = 4amp). as an example if it only needed the 5v line i could use the following laptop psu which is 10A http://www.adafruit.com/products/658.

im happy to hack together a psu from a laptop or something to power this thing, just wanted to know if its possible.

Thanks,
Brendan.

There is a raspberry pi ATX power adapter sold as a kit you can buy here https://www.tindie.com/products/KD8SSF/atx-pi-2/ that will allow you to control and power an ATX power supply from a raspi.

Is there shipping included for the price of the item? Neither here or the drillbitsystems website seem to mention it.

Check near the bottom of the first post of this thread.  There's a shipping table there. Shipping is separate from price of the items.

Shipping costs are also listed at the bottom of the order page of the website: http://drillbitsystem.com/order.html

If you order through PayPal for batch2, shipping is auto calculated based on your shopping cart and destination for the order.

O.k Got shipping info but now I wonder about the back plane offer mentioned on the website that if you buy more than one you get a mini plane included. This post mentions its not free anymore. Has it just not been updated on the website yet? If I start trying to decide power supply placement I may want 2 though I'm still not sure if I have an internal usb port or where the usb is on the backplane.

2nd question would be does each come with a usb cable if I don't end up getting the backplane off the bat?

btw is there a 12v brick to 5v 4 pin molex out there if I didn't want to use a full atx power supply. I imagine that's the starting size that comes with enough connections needed. All I can figure right now is I'd get a module power supply to limit cables to the device and 250watts or less being I've seen in another post that 20 watt is about what each device uses.

I'm pretty sure the post is more up-to-date than the website, so yes, the miniplanes cost extra now and no longer free with multiple boards.

For the other questions, hoping Barntech or others will chime in.

Yeah that's awesome...... but some of us live in Australia. There has been no pricing for local postage other than "it will be cheaper"

I was also looking at these...but would it be enough to power one board?

I believe somewhere in this thread it's stated that one board uses 16watts

I see one power supply from that link supplies 5000mA.

so 12V * 5a = 60watts.

Should be more than enough power for one.

I wonder how those power supplies are regarding voltage regularity and ripple? I ask because it possibly can create problems when overclocking if the voltage is not consistent - cause more errors or the like.
Anyway, I have 4 boards coming so don't think those are a possibility, connection wise, voltage is still ok. And then there are the fans to plug in as well.

So far, the Super Flower Golden Green at 400 watts does great at low voltages.

Hey guys,

As the MBP boards are starting to ship, I was just wondering if there is any update on our reel?  Thanks Smiley

Maybe most are buying multiple with backplane, but I still would prefer options like this when I order this or other products potentially needing something like this on the order site. That's where I got fudged with a under powered hub previously.

FYI for all reading ... Make sure you check where the products coming

How about Bitfury lowering the prices on the reels a bit to reflect the new competition?

Bitfury is going to milk it until they can't and then r&d a new chip or enjoy the run while it lasts and move on to other things.

Bitfury probably just missed out on close to 2PH/s worth of KNCminer sales over the past few months. If they had their act together they could have had a fair chunk of those.

I'm guessing (read hoping!) That Barntech et all are furiously working away assembling boards etc.

You are guessing wrong, for starters the chips haven't arrived, and the boards are being outsourced.

I stand corrected. Sad
