does make me twitch to not stand too close to whatever pool you as a person decide to over take.

The one thought I haven't thought to though while on the subject of chips . Are the chips on the assembled boards potentialy upgradable?
Who knows, I mean if Bitfury decide to release a 2nd gen chip, say 28nm, they might choose a different chip package like BFL have done for their 28nm 2nd gen chip. I like the current small packages that don't need expensive heat sinks. although you need way more off them to get the same GH/s. the trade off is you end up having a much higher component count on each board, but the board is not covered by a massive heat sink assembly, and you can produce a single chips USB powered device.

I will only be keeping a small portion for myself. The rest will probably be sold/ group buy'ed out.

I would imagine that someone will compile the miner for rPi at some point. I was actually just thinking of putting the Drillbit boards into an old PC case and fitting either a rPi or an Intel Atom board to run it, as it would be nicely self contained with the PSU and everything in the one box.

Assuming bfgminer/cgminer are updated I don't see why not!  That's my plan, I've got one ready and waiting!

If you get a good deal make sure to note it here or drill bit system forum.  I'm not planning to dream too much till I've run my first and see where I can put it more tasteful, all I know is the pi is not my dream boat. I'm not sure if its overheating or not powered enough for after an hour or two not showing anything.

As long as we don't have to use a too weird setup, thats my plan too unless I trip over another mining program that fits my needs.

So far my Pi has been running rock solid.  It's been mining for me 24/7 for the past two months.  The only time it has stopped is last night when I rebooted it to test some changes I made in my configuration after updating cgminer.  I wanted to make sure that in the unlikely event I have a power failure that it would start back to mining unattended as soon as power is restored.  I've got enough batteries hooked to the UPS now that at a 1000 watt draw my system would continue to hash away for more than thirty hours.  lol. I lucked into a bunch of free equipment.  heh..

Hello people.

I'm very pleased to announce a price drop on all Drillbit System hardware for Batch 2  Grin Grin

Drillbit Thumb -            0.8 BTC
Drillbit 8 Board -           2.5 BTC
Drillbit Miniplane -         0.3 BTC
Drillbit Double Scroll -    0.3 BTC

You'll see I've changed the front page quite a bit. Much that was on there is no longer relevant. For now payments will only be accepted in BTC. I think most of you know the deal with PAYPAL. We may reinstate the third party paypal option, but for now i'd rather keep it to Bitcoin, after all, that's why we're all here right? If anyone is desperate to pay with Paypal or Bank Transfer, PM me, it's possible, but please, go get some BTC.

If we get all these miners bought up quick, batch 2 should not be far behind batch 1.

Cheers

Barntech

I'm sure all of what I'm about to ask is located somewhere in the 61 pages of this thread, but...

What's your delivery schedule for batch #1? Just trying to estimate how "far" behind batch #2 would be
Looks like a ATX adapter to the backplane, is that correct?

The new price is welcome, however can you give any further updates.

How's the prototype going ?
Any update in chip dispatch batch 1&2 ?
how long from receiving chips to delivery ?

Please don't think I doubt you. I don't. I just have learn't the hard way. 2-3 weeks delay and were busted.

It's pretty close, am on the fence for a couple more.

If I could get someone to buy my preorder for my jalapeno at retail price , I'd get a few more too. Someone will eventually want it for posterity value for that price at least I hope.

This is possible but it will really depend on the deign of the chips. In most likelihood, they will have different specs and require different circuitry. Generally speaking its going to be better to design new boards for new chips to ensure that the design is optimal.

Yes you can use a raspberry pi with cgminer to run these. Also, good news is that we've been working with Kano and Con from cgminer and the new cgminer update has full bitfury support. This will include our boards.  Grin

Delivery schedule is still looking good for late Oct / early Nov. Batch 2 shouldn't be very far behind batch 1, and potentially even ship at the same time if all goes well. I'm currently making efforts to ensure that we can do both batches together.

The prototyping is coming along. The comms are looking solid on the boards, comunication between the ATMEL processor chip and the bitfury chips is all working. The cgminer side of things is all sorted. The remaining pieces of the puzzle are getting the USB protocols working and making sure the bootloader is functioning correctly for future firmware updates. Almost there!

Update on chips is that they are on the brink of being sent. Should be in the post in the next couple of days.  Smiley

From receiving chips to delivery will be 2-3 weeks, though i am exploring options to potentially cut this down. See what i can do.

Is batch 2 ordered? Or does it require all of the boards in that batch to be ordered and paid for first? Sorry if this was mentioned earlier.
