Wow, he has actually 103 Bitcoin in his wallet. He must be really disappointed with losing his wallet.dat. I wish he gets it soon as possible back but that is nearly impossible. Actually who is this guy ? Does he has a name ?

We are never going to know his real identity, and if we do, it shouldn't be revealed, because we are on crypto, and that is the first purpose of cryptos; ANON.

So i feel very sorry for this guy, but how could he be so dumb to do not protect his wallet.dat?

That is a loss, as of today of $1.3 million USD.  Even if a business lost this amount of profit, they’d go crazy let alone a single individual.  If it was me, I would be beside myself, i’d Go crazy.  You could buy your house cash and still have loads left.   Its really unlucky to be in that situation, I can’t imagine what it must feel like but I do know that it’s like a missed oppotunity.

This happens when you are not having enough backups of your important files. Sure, at the time he mined the Bitcoins he probably haven't sensed that 100 BTC could one day be his personal pension fund.

This is not an isolated incident. Back in 2011, Bitcoins were worth only around $0.10 per coin, and no one thought that it will be giving 100,000x returns in less than seven years. This guy lost only 103 coins. I have heard incidents where users lost thousands of coins, due to their carelessness. You can't blame them, as they had no idea about the future prices in 2011.

Probably this happened past days ago.
This wasn't easy to move on. 103 bitcoin is a big amount to convert it in dollar 103*1130=116,390$ just an approximation of mine. What if bitcoin price will increase soon. This wasn't easy. This is a big challenge to that man. Hopefully he is alright now. Experience is a great teacher.

I agree. It is a great pity that there is no way to restore your bitcoins in any way. I think a lot of people lost their bitcoins. I would at least part of the lost ...

What a sad thing. Knowing that there will be 103 bitcoins just sitting there forever. It could have been used for a lot of things now. It would be awesome if it were "mined" somehow and given to charity. There should have been a code in Bitcoin wherein untouched coins for 15 or 20 years without movement can be mined again.

Yeah it must be quite depressing for the individual involved, but I'm sure this is actually a fairly common story amongst those who got into or were given Bitcoin right at the very beginning & never envisioned how big it would become.

I would be so angry if that would happened to me. We should all be careful with are Bitcoins and make sure to take security measures in aim to never experience this.

That's not a lot. People have mined thousands of Bitcoins and lost them. Moreover most miners would have sold their Bitcoins when it would have reached a $100 or $1000 for quick money. Only long term rich investors can hold for long because they can afford to lose the investment amount.

Oh my god if they recover his wallet for sure they will become millionaire , but if they did not recover for sure they will not get that. Many people also lost their bitcoin because they will not give important when the price is very low like before last few years ago.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used

It will be nice to have some link to read about this, but if it is true it is one of those mistakes that is going to haunt you for the rest of your life I have lost some money in the past, nothing like that and it still bothers me to this day, I do not want to imagine the things I will be telling myself if I were to lose that huge amount of bitcoins, especially since bitcoin is very valuable.

Crypto still can't account for human error..I myself lost some bitcoin on anonymous exchange because I forgot to back up my password. I think most of have made a mistake that has costed us money, just not to the extent of 103 bitcoins.
