Check out my YouTube video where I dive more in depth : BREAKING NEWS KFC is now accepting Bitcoin, and Smart contracts might be legally binding!

Is this just a bucket of chicken, or a bucket of publicity stunts?

You will be able to buy a bucket of chicken in Select Canada KFC's. However you will have to order it online using Bitpay, and have it shipped to you.

Cost : Around $20 + $5 shipping + Taxes + Any other blockchain fees

What do you guys think about it?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Do you guys think this is going to be huge for cryptocurrency or just a KFC marketing scheme?

This is good with lazy and rich people, i still prefer to use our country currency in buying foods so that it will not be late. But KFC accepting Bitcoin as one of their payment method is a good news  and it can become a test run for some food chains before deciding to accept Bitcoin like KFC.

I think more and more you will see many companies and industries start to accept bitcoins and maybe other crypto currencies.  It’s good for business and it shows they are forward thinking.

This is almost definitely a marketing scheme, but what isn't these days? I mean there isn't anything that isn't ethical about this, if they want to try and popularize their consumer demographics with a larger variety of payment options and patrons, there should be no issue with it. They're also using Bitcoin, and talking about it in a good light, that's more than most people could ask for in these scenarios. Being able to order chicken, even if it isn't the best or delivered in the most spectacular way, it does engage people with something new and beneficial to the Bitcoin community in these circumstances.

It won't be huge for cryptos because the current demographics of KFC will likely not also use Bitcoin, but you never know what may change.

KFC accepting Bitcoin is massive news as this will also increase the demand of Bitcoin and also widening the acceptance base. This piece of news is cheering to the bitcoin community.

This news is not really new, there were some topics about it in the forum this week already, where we already discussed the opinions...
It's a nice marketing trick from KFC, just to make sure that they can reach another market, where the people are tech oriented and has a nice bucket of coins to spend them on chicken...
Anyway, there were news about McDonald's and other big chains on the same topic, so there's nothing new...

I suspect it won't do either of those things.

You think with the network being what it is, people are going to run out and buy bitcoin just so they can spend it (with a fee) at KFC?  I don't think so.  It's much easier to spend fiat, which people already have, than to go out of their way to buy bitcoin--just to spend that.  That's lunacy.

My opinion is that bitcoin is never going to get used for mundane things like fried chicken unless the USD collapses.  In other words, probably not in my lifetime.  Yes, this is a gimmick.  That's all it is.

Why do you think it will increase the demand of bitcoin? It is only regional, and not an effective way to purchase the actual food. Check out my video in the OP for more information.

I honestly think it goes both ways.

It'll cause more people to be interested in bitcoin since it's now showing to be a viable currency to use in everyday situations, like buying food, and if KFC deems it a successful strategy to accept it, it may open up more companies to jump on board to accepting btc. Which in the long run helps the holder of the crypto (most likely a majority of the people on this board).

However, on the other hand, it could simply be a gimmick which can be a possibility.

Bitcoin is healthy eating you see because you can place an order if you can afford the crazy $25 transaction fees
to the miners and then wait and wait for the transaction to clear.

Has anyone staved to death yet waiting for a transaction to complete  Grin

Mining is CPU-wars and Intel, AMD like it nearly as much as big oil likes miners wasting electricity. Is this what mankind has come too.

This is good for people that are lazy and not wanted to change their bitcoins into fiats. But, Soon, i will try to use my bitcoins in ordering and buying foods for my family. Maybe this is quite good for us, but i still preferred to use my credit/debit card and my money in buying foods. Well, Bitcoin's price is the big challenge for KFC because it is so volatile. Maybe they have a lots of programmers that will program their systems day by day. No one knows.

if you think that the cost is getting bigger because it has to go through some payment mechanism, there are taxes on postage and the cost of sending payment, while we know the transaction fee is now just big

I is a good start for blockchain though

That's a great news for this platform, Day by day Bitcoin is becoming an acceptable and credible currency and it's getting accepted on many online platforms. So that Bitcoin has become a popular investment and saving platform.

Whatever the case is, I don't interest in spending my Bitcoin for any shopping purpose, Actually, Bitcoin is a precious thing for me so that I want to save my Bitcoin for the future purpose. I believe that Bitcoin will bring to me a lot of profit in the future.

It’s still publicity. Getting ahead of the competition even if very few people would actually try it due to the high transaction fees.

That's great news for Bitcoin society, day by day Bitcoin is being accepted whole around the world and it's getting familiar to the people more and more. Since Bitcoin is decentralized currency so that many people want to join in this platform nowadays. Most important thing is that Bitcoin has made itself a major factor on the money market so that it will dominate in the monetary platform in the future.

But for me, holding Bitcoin is better than spending Bitcoin because it's a valuable tool that always creates milestone so that it should be kept for the future purpose.

It is a good news foor kfc lovers out there. If it is true, more companies or restaurants will seek and use it in the future.
