competition with Ethereum is the one who have the same project.
ERC20 vs NEP5 wallet.
this is the best thing to watch, NEO will definitely come close to ETH

Agree. NEO is the closest competitor against Ethereum nowadays. It's the most functional and feature-rich smart contract platform that could rival Ethereum in the future (unlike other alternatives like EOS and Cardano which are new and lack stability, and usable features). However, it all comes down to the level of adoption it would experience in the mainstream world by companies and individuals alike. If Ethereum is used more than NEO itself, then it will remain as the leader in the smart contracts space.

One thing for sure, is that many new technologies and improvements have been coming around the past years from rival projects, to make a stable and secure smart contract platform. If Ethereum's competitors succeed in providing secure and scalable smart contracts before Ethereum does, then ETH's place could be at risk as its rivals would rise in user adoption within the mainstream world. However, I believe that Ethereum's Casper PoS and Sharding improvements are just around the corner, to make it as efficient and secure as possible.

Right now, Ethereum is undergoing some serious issues related to transaction processing speeds, and high fees (due to huge activity on the network) but said improvements could alleviate the situation and allow new use cases to flow on it. Nevertheless, only time will tell us whenever EOS or NEO or Cardano, could even overcome Ethereum in terms of user adoption, and popularity. Just my thoughts Grin

There are alot of competitor of ETH in the market but all of them still not possible to replace ETH. In my opinion the best competitor of ETH is ADA and NEO. Both project has strong team member and in the future can be possible to become next Ethereum.

It seems to me that EOS has a chance to become one of the strongest competitors for ETH. A new and actively developing project, with an excellent team of developers and good scalability.

The best competitor is Tezos, a project that has the ability to fix and update itself without a hard fork. It has strong development teams and strong community, I cant find another will surpass tezos.

Which are the best competitors to Ethereum, and why do you think so?

(I know on top of my head that Cardano and IOTA try to challenge Ethereum,
although they still haven't proved much from my understanding?)

I think EOS and Welltrado.

although many of Ethereum's competitors are on the market, but they have not been able to convince a lot of people yet, to replace Ethereum is very difficult for the Ethereum rivals, the best it is the ADA and NEO, they are both projects of having strong team members in the future, we can to become the next Ethereum.

I think wave coin is a considerable competitor in the calculation, because the project and the existing feature in the coin wave is a feature improvement that is in ethereum

I think that Ethereum is NEO and EOS worthy competitors. Because these coins have taken a good and fast course to raise. Adequate competition is always good. This creates stable and strong coins in the market.

Is hard to say. Everybody in this Forum say that EOS could be better but I'll wait for EOS to get their problems under control.
When Sharing and Plasma is out there will be maybe only one competitor there in the future --> IOTA

there are actually some eth rivals like eos, ltc, cardano and neo, but my neo is the best competitor eth, because if you see neo development may neo better than altcoin other than eth, neo only takes two years to be like recently

Yes, if it's a competition that affects something. In fact, each coin is original and does not interfere with the specifics of the other. That is, Ethereum does not affect bitcoin in any way, and the other altcoins do not affect Ethereum in any way.

In my own opinion and from my recent observation, I think the next best competitor to etherum now is EOS, since it's launch of main net, it been doing great in term of network performance because they have reach 1000+/TPS, but i won't finalize until EOS have a lot of users like etherum.

Competitors are other smart contract blockchains: nem, nxt, waves, lisk and plenty of new ones coming. But Ethereum is well positioned as the undisputed leader so competitors will mostly die off or be left in irrelevance.

Actually best ETH competitors are NEO and EOS - both have a nice ecoystem around, but NEO is much ahead and when CHina lifts their crypto ban, NEO has a potential to be really huge!

I think so, Cardano is mostly a competitor to the Ethereum. Cardano (ADA) is founded by the co-founder of Ethereum, Charles Hoskinson, and has been developed to compete directly with Bitcoin and Ethereum. Cardano's blockchain is similar to Ethereum's mirroring the fact that decentralised applications and smart contracts can be built on the blockchain. It is considered the "3rd generation” cryptocurrencies and is supposed to solve problems that other ones weren’t able to solve good enough.

According to the current thinking there is no rival Ethereum. Because the developer team is very good. The best is vitalik. Future updates will be even better and will not compete with Ethereum.

I think EOS is ethereum greatest rival and biggest competition due to the reason that it capitalises on all ethereum weakness and took it as its own strength and features coupled with a very strong and great team.
Though Ethereum is still going to dominate that niche for a long time.

Ethereum is a Phenomenal Coin with the Platform that it has, and lots of new altcoin projects running on the Ethereum platform. but now there is a new Altcoin with the same function, and it is EOS. Maybe this is Altcoin who will become Eth's heavy competitor in the future, because EOS Platform has some advantages compared with Ethereum.

Neo. Neo is a best competitor in ethereum. They have similar functions, they also have similar blockchain smart contract that could make a use to any ico. But regarding on its feature, neo is way more faster compared to ethereum.
