Hi guys, I've got a serious problem. My wallet is broken. I've tried on several computers with fresh wallets. I've tried to load my backup-wallet but it always crashes the hbn-qt. I've tried a different OS now but still cant access my funds. Are they gone forever now? Is there anything I can do? edit: I get around 4 different errors, depending on what wallet backup I try to load in I've tried the new beta, which also couldnt load my wallets. Damn, should have thought about that before putting real money in some beta software. I'm open for suggestions.

Have you tired replacing your blockchain? http://wiki.hobonickels.info/index.php?title=Replace_Blockchain I am uploading a backup dated today right now that I will replace the link on the wiki with. I didn't know we had a copy of the blockchain on the wiki... cool I guess I have it sort of hidden so that my bandwidth isn't eaten up real fast.

Hmmm interesting. So replacing the block chain doesn't work... I assume that the wallet is not locked because the pics you posted show it staking. Is it possible that the wallet backups were from version 1.2? Just brain storming here. Tranz will likely have some better ways to trouble shoot.

Foolishly I didnt date the hbn wallet backup like I do with btc. But it is very likely from version 1.3.1.

I wonder if starting the client using -salvagewallet might work? I am running out of ideas real fast. Sorry.

Thats what I get. Out of 3 Wallets only 1 works. Sadly the fattest wallet is the most broken one. The HBN client is pretty bugged tbh, because 1 wallet just destroys hbn process as soon as I try to load it. The second broken wallet will load, I can see the balance and then instantly crash. I'm going to compile my own wallet with ubuntu and try that...then I call it a day... Is there a way to extract the private key and inject it into a new wallet.dat?

UPDATE! THE blockchain from the wiki works! When I let the client re-download it or use any of the copies I got from backups or other machines it doesnt.

Hi Strawie.
I am guess this wallet came from version 1.2?
So lets try a few things. #1 grab version 1.2 from my github releases. ( it won't sync with the network, but we don't need it to) #2 Create a new directory on your c: ( or other drive ) c:\hbn_1.2 for example #3 Copy this bad wallet into it calling it wallet.dat ( that should be the only thing in the directory ) #4 Start version 1.2 with the 2 switches -datadir=c:\hbn_1.2 -salvagewallet ( you may also need -listen=0 ) #5 Hopefully the client starts up just fine, after it does shut it down #6 You should be now able to take the wallet.dat and rename wallet-fixed.dat (or something different) #7 You can try try to load up the wallet in a version 1.3+
Please me me know if this helps.

I still think you may have a slightly corrupted wallet. You can use dumpprivkey and then importprivkey rpc command.

yeah, I've made it through the console commands and figured out how to do that.

A real quick question... what to do when you send a transaction, the funds are deducted from the sending wallet, it's being posted to the network (the receiving wallet marks it as unconfirmed) but the network never accept the transaction?
It happened to me 3 times now but I am not sure how to "reset" the transaction
Do I need to -salvagewallet on both wallets (sending and receiving)
what's the correct procedure to recover from that?

I think repairwallet in rpc should fix this right? As long as you have the latest version of the daemon/client.

I think repairwallet in rpc should fix this right? As long as you have the latest version of the daemon/client. Repair wallet will fix missmatched coins, and orphans from stake or mining, But this type of transaction may not go away. Worth a shot though. Unick was this dealing with multi-signatures. Or just a normal transactions? You could try resendtx. But I think salvage wallet maybe necessary.

What can cause this kind of issue ?

I know that if you send a transaction while not synced, or while having networking issues it can cause this to happen. I had this happen with a different coin a few months ago.

User scryptographer has offered to keep HBN blockchain archives hosted online for those that need them. The link for the most recent backup (today) is http://cryptotrade.rs/hbn/HBNchain04012014.rar and I will update the wiki to include this file. Thanks scryptographer for helping the HBN community!
