One might think that by adding more coins to your portfolio you are increasing the chances of making money on pumps because you never know which of them will succeed or be temporarily pumped. The problem is that you are also increasing the chances of failure because each of these coins can lose value just as fast as it can gain it.
Having more coins makes you monitor multiple charts, read multiple predictions, follow multiple dev groups... It's annoying and I see it as a waste of time. It's better to have a few.
i think there must be one crypto but that must be with standard because if there are alot of crypto so they will start competition and and as a result users will be also confused and there is also a chance of scam as well so i think only one crypto is better then too many. |

I know that there are many kinds of alternative coins existing today, but is it better to have that many coins instead of having just a few? What are the benefits and harm in having that many alternative coins?
It all depends on the prospect of each altcoin value we choose, if we choose altcoin that has no future, having many types of altcoin will definitely be a disadvantage. it would be nice if you choose the type of altcoin that we will invest by researching in detail and do a more accurate analysis for the type of altcoin that we will choose and have good potential in the future. |

Having a handful of Altcoins bis cool, but making sure it's not a bunch of Shitcoins is another thing. It all comes down to the kind of Altcoins you have. If you keep coins that have no potentials, you will run into a deep mess. And another thing, when the value of Bitcoin goes down, all your alts will go down.

having 3-5 altcoin is enough,as long as you have bitcoins .and wait are we talking longterm here right?just clarifying because trading is different from holding..i have 3 altcoins zap,omesigo and litecoin since i dont consider ethereum as altcoin instead this is main coin for me like bitcoin. It is not about owning too many coins, it is about owning the most precious among them.
Just buy coins you think they will have more value in the future and you can sell them at higher price or those you think you will need them.
Some coins may have ZERO value in a short time and thus you will loose your money.
Pick them wisely.

because it will give us a bigger chance to make a profit, if just relying on one coin is also too risky, because altcoin is not like bitcoin, altcoi belief fades faster. and if your altcoin loses confidence, then you will not be able to sell it
that means you lose all your investment.

Well the most obvious answer is that having a large number of coins distributes your risk nicely. However, if all of your altcoins end up being sh*tcoins, then that doesn't really help you. Personally, I try not to invest in too many altcoins at once, as it becomes difficult to keep track of all the trends, so you'll probably fail to maximize your profit. I would recommend just investing in a few (less than 10) and getting to know their markets very well, so you can profit most.

If I were to ask I'd prefer quality over quantity. I'll have as much as I can afford quality altcoins in my portfolio than having plenty of altcoins that I can't track their progress, not knowing their performance or updates in the end. There are plenty of altcoins in the market that after some time loses its value so one should be aware of what's going on with that certain coin almost everyday. I remember a coin I got from an airdrop which suddenly dropped then gone after a few days of making a FOMO so its a bit devastating for me.

Of course it is better to have many, the more you have altcoins the more you will get much money. However, the price of altcoins is depends on the btc, when the btc is high, you must get much money from the altcoins you hold.

It is good to have many valuable altcoins, with real project in the crypto space, with many altcoin in your portfolio, you sure to earn big someday, But it is nice to ensure you avoid crap coins that does not have serious project to deliver

Right. The more altcoin you create, the more new investment opportunities for you, but remember that most of these altcoins will die very soon because it is created to target fraud. So study carefully before deciding to invest in any new altcoin because it will bring you many benefits but the risk attached is no less. |

It seems better to have more altcoins because some of them could go up while some of them could go down so you are either in profit either on 0. But thats is not thr best idea because as someone already said in a reply here, it is better to choose quality rather than quantity. You can buy a lot of coins and it will happen what I have just said, or you can buy just a few of them wich are the best and get surely profit with them, of course if they go up. To many ICO's are opening every year and I think only the very good ones are going to resist on the market and get in profit so be smart and choose the only a few of them wich are the best.

I've had a bunch of alt coins over the past 9 months since getting into crypto. I managed to make some wise choices in that time, and the bull rush up to January saw me with something like 25 of the top 100 coins making a fair bit money each day.
But the issue with having too many alts is the security factor having them stored on many exchanges, and the hassle pertaining to the need multiple wallets.
I eventually ended up selling most of them and consolidating the funds into 1 coin I believe will do well in the future.
I've kept a few, but any more than about 6 can be a headache.
But if they are ERC20 tokens for example, that's not so bad. But the question I see many times and still can't answer confidently is "are you better off with $100 in 10 coins or $1000 in 1 coin?".
It depends sometimes. As 2 or 3 or those could moon. I liken it to roulette. Sometimes you need to put a few chips on a 4 way square, and twice that many on a straight up. Cuz you never know when that number will come up and pay big.

Having many altcoins is better but keeping a few is best rather than owning a single coin. Holding many altcoins could possibly gives off more money as long as you're using it wisely when the time it bubbles. But, the disadvantage of having many is that so annoying to monitor the movement of the prices of all the altcoins you are keeping.Having a few like 3 or 4 of those leading altcoins in crypotcurrencies is quite manageable.

Well, there's no need to have many altcoins, you just need to have a few but a great one. Choose the right altcoins and try figure out the potential and capability of the coin. |
