I think having too many altcoins can increase risk for you . You have to invest into those only which is having high popularity and volume.
Now a days there are number of coins in which you invest, ETH, BCH, BTG, BCD, EOS and ETC.

The more coins, the fewer risks, although it is very difficult to choose worthwhile coins from almost 2,000 altcoins! On the one hand, you diversify your portfolio, and on the other, you have less earnings, provided you keep a few promising coins!

Having many coin and token will benefit  you in the future but the real question here are those  tokens you're holding does has a potential?
If you're an investor and planning to hold different  kind of token I suggest that you must learn first how to distinguished the potential  of each token and how it will be use in the real world, A token that has a purpose. Keep holding plenty sort of token.

I think more altcoins is better than one because if you only have one coin and that coin down you didn't have any backup. But if you have many altcoin you not all coin will going down at the same time, if you already have enough profit you can sell it and find another good coins.

I'll limit myself to a few altcoins.
I don't think there is any point in investing in too many altcoins.
Most will not be used in a few years anyway, so why invest in it?

Its not about the Altcoin, its about the project. Hold as many project that you think are worthy to be kept based on your due diligence (project use case, community and technology). If you hold the right Altcoin, there are chances that your are going to make a fortune, mid to long term. Just look for Classy project with sound use case and technology then hold.

Off-cource, unicorns are rare, so is classy projects. So, your due diligence would play a key role in this. its not how many Altcoin you hold, its all about how many great project are in your portfolio.

Good-luck.

Is a good decision to diversified in many coins provided you have a enough capital to back it up. It will gives many options in earning if the market eventually look good you will be in fortunes. You should also note the risk in buying into many coins as well. The risk of loosing much of your capital ad well during the bear season. You consider the two scenarios together and come up with a good investment decisions.

In my opinion it is better to have few altcoin than to have too many altcoin. You already seen the effects of too many altcoin. Many investors withdraw their investment because they are having a hard time identifying legit cryptocurrency because there are too many altcoin in coinmarketcap.

I know that there are many kinds of alternative coins existing today, but is it better to have that many coins instead of having just a few? What are the benefits and harm in having that many alternative coins?

Personally, I gather different kind of coins but the volume I'm getting is depending on the potential of the coin in the future. It's good to diversify the investment because it's basically reducing the risk of losing, it also increase your ability to gain greater returns. You won't missed any sudden increase of price of a coin. Just take a lot of reading, and be sure that your are investing on the right coin.

it would be great if you have a lot of altcoins, because then the investment you make is safer. with the more you invest in various coins the risks you encounter are fewer, different if you invest in one coin, if the price of the coin goes down then you will lose, whereas if investing in many coins surely the other coins will rise and only a few coins down.

I think it will depend on what you want to achieve, if you want to bet on multiplying your wealth the best is to invest in a few currencies, now if you want to divide your portfolio and secure your investment the most important thing would be to diversify, which is a good strategy to go for the safe route.

I think this depends a lot on personal preference because a lot of people like a very full wallet with a lot of cryptocurrencies. but personally I like to hold just a couple of tokens which i will have no problem monitoring as they grow.
In a case where the tokens are dropping in value like a case of a bear market, I can easily manage my portfolio selling, flipping and holding what i decide to.

Having more coins is good because it means you diversify your investments. If you only concentrating buying 1 or 2 coins only,
you cannot avoid massive loss if the coins gone bad. Always spread your money for several coins to hold, but only buy good coins.

it is always better to share your investments because if one coin falls into which you invested all means. then you yourself understand. I'd rather minimize the risks and invest in a few coins.

It is always better to concentrate on a few (I would say anywhere from 5 to 20 different coins) rather than amassing dozens of different coins/tokens. I would say that 90% to 99% of all the current altcoins / tokens are good for nothing. So we should rather concentrate on the remaining 1%.

I find it's better to limit the amount of alt coins one can hold so you can keep an eye on things and make sure there are no swaps or any other tasks you must do to save your investment.  Just enough to diversify and keep your portfolio as stable as possible.

It depends on the hobby of someone using Altcoin. But in my opinion it would be nice not to overdo it in buying coins, especially coins in Altcoin. Buy coins that you think are important and potential in this Crypto world. I think that's the thing you can do in this Crypto World.
