Yeah, Doge was intended to be a joke. The core software hasn't been maintained and updated as Bitcoin's has so running a node making as many transactions as we do is problematical.

We rolled back some optimisation improvements we made. Unfortunately, people using obsolete browsers slows it down for everyone else.

As of today, the Free Dogecoin Giveaway on FreeDoge.co.in is shutting down.

We've always viewed this giveaway as a means of giving back to the community, however, we're compelled to discontinue the service due to large-scale account abuse on the part of some errant users. They can only be withdrawn.

Nope, you must send them to a DOGE address elsewhere before conversion.

Atomic or the core one (dogecoin.com).

These are desktop clients which allow you to store any amounts of DOGE. Unless you're referring to external sites which you don't have full access to.

Personally, I used Dogechain.info web wallet for long time and didn't had problems with it. Though I havent tried it recently.
If you're on Desktop, you can download Multi Doge wallet from official Dogecoin website. If you're using phone, Coinomi is a good option.
