-I 20 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 40960 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1500 --target-temp 65

You guys see anywhere you think I could grab a few more hashes? Any attemp at using -g resulted in a crash.

using sgminer btw  Cheesy

If you want to push the card halfway over the cliff's egde, try these:

-I 20 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 24000 --gpu-engine 1130 --gpu-memclock 1250 --target-temp 65

I dunno if this will work for the windows version of cgminer but you could try this out, for 20-30kh more:

* Grab this file: http://goatpc.com/scrypt130511Tahitiglg2tc24000w256l4.bin
* Put it in the cgminer folder where the other .bin files are. If you get a warning that you're going to overwrite a file, that's fine--this replaces it.

Those 2 things combined usually result in 700-710kh from Tahiti 7950's.

So this weekend has just been the pits for me for mining hardware. I lose one motherboard with no spares on hand, and it'll be all week before I get another one. So there goes 2.5Mh. Then lastnight prior to bed, I smell some electric burning in the air. It's coming from the new MSI 270 rig. Not sure if it's the PSU, any of the GPUs, the USB risers or the motherboard, but after rebooting it, only 2 cards are being recognized. So there goes another 1.5mh. I'm down 4mh Roll Eyes

C'est la vie.

I got my hardware already. Still in boxes. I will unpack them tomorrow. I don't have risers yet, so I can only set up the rig with 2 GPUs for now.

Gigabyte 970A DS3P (can support 5 GPUs, but I only got 4)
Seasonic 1050 watts
AMD Sempron 145
2 GB RAM Zeppelin
Veggie Crate
AData USB 3.0 Flash Drive 16 GB, imaged with litecoinbamt 1.3 R9
4 Sapphire R9 270 Dual-X

All I need now are the risers and to set this all up.

Dabs First GPU Rig

More pics when this is all assembled. I have an idea to do a vertical orientation on the GPUs, and I'll flatten the profile or something.

@vesperwillow, do you have all your rigs at temp target 65?  Mine seem to randomly reboot after a few days when I have them under 70... they seem more stable at 75 target.  To protect from heat soaking the cards, I have the overtemp set at 83.  The fans also run about 10% slower at 75 than 70.

I really need to research and understand more about how scrypt works to better understand the relationship between TC, core clock, and mem clock.  I've been using TC 21712 with the optimized bin, mem 1600 and core up to 1105... somehow I found a ratio of .69 being optimal for my 6x7950 rig with the cards averaging 665 kh and efficiency of about 2.6 kh/w... now, is that ratio ideal because of the TC I am using?  or the cards?  I'd love to eek out more efficiency over more hashes but without sacrificing overall hashrate.

Sucks about your hardware Sad  Wishing you a quick turnaround on repairs.

I think some of my rigs have it set to like 60 and some don't specify it at all, but all the rigs have the fans set to 100 I believe--I run aftermarket coolers on almost every card, so my situation may be different. In a thread on litecoinforum somewhere, I noted that there seemed to be a relationship between temperature and increased rejects on the tahiti cards. I'm sure it's plausible to see all sorts of varying results based on temperature.

Almost all the brands use the same chip and PCB layout, with some minor differences. My MSI 7950's performed better than my Sapphire, even with the same settings. I've found that sometimes underclocking the engine will give more performance, especially if it seems performance degrades with overclocking. Just have to toy with it sometimes. A good example would be ASUS 270X cards. I've got 3 or 4 brands of 270X cards, and all of them work like a champ on the same settings, except the ASUS. If I underclock the engine on that brand, then it springs to life. It's weird.

Also it's nice to be able to monitor wattage usage at the wall, because if you see wattage increasing but your hashrate isn't, then you know you're going wrong with the settings.

Sucks about your hardware Sad  Wishing you a quick turnaround on repairs.

Thanks. Definitely didn't want to spend what little BTC I had left on repairs.. ugh.

Might sell or trade my 5 ASUS 270X CU/TOP cards, I'll be figuring that out tonight.

Nothing wrong with them, I just don't like how hard it's been to get them to hash the way I want, and it fluctuates a smidge more than I like (+/- 10kh).

They and the MSI's are the quietest of the bunch, they're great cards.

If I do decide to sell or trade, I will let this thread know first. For trade, I want MSI 270/270X cards, new or used/like-new. If you can't find any, this thread has them, and I would accept a shipment from him as well.

I'll keep you guys updated.

24kilo, this doesn't affect what I'm doing for you, I'm still going to tune yours! Like I said before, I'll do the work on my units, then make sure your units have good settings based on mine.

Hello miners,
After several days of mining TAGs on tagmining.com I have a problem with logging. When I try to log in it says:
Unable to login: Account is locked. Please contact site support.

Do not know what to do? Does anyone have the same problem?

Oh wow. That is amazing Vesper haha. Was getting around 650 kh with the best config I could come up with.

Pop this in a bam 700+ thanks!

I'll try it with the other 3 tahiti 7950's and let you know how it goes!

I know, I double post a lot... but it's my thread, right lol.

So about the only good thing that came out of today was that when I got home, 2 of my Gigabyte 270s were at the door.  They shipped in three separate shipments I guess.

So I popped the bad boy in this computer, pulled the settings from the mining hardware comparison page, and boom...

450KH/S on a $180(shipped) card.  Booya!

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.  I'm guessing Vesper could get 750+ out of it, but I'm happy with what I'm seeing lol.

This may perhaps be common knowledge for everyone else out there, but I'll share anyway.  I'm still learning more daily as I go and this seemed a tidbit worth sharing for similar rigs performing differently.

I was tweaking the cards I got from Fuse.  They had been running stable at stock clocks for about a week now, so I thought it was safe to do some adjustments.  I have 6 identical to the 3 I got from him, so I just plopped the identical settings on them, but they were not stable.  After a while, got it figured out.

My original settings have the VDDC set at 1038mV via MSI Afterburner.  GPUz shows the cards on my original rig getting 12.1V from the PSU and the VDDC was showing as 998mV.  On the new rig, it was getting 11.7V from the PSU and VDDC was showing as 969mV.  I bumped MSI Afterburner to 1050mV which raised the VDDC GPUz was seeing to 992mV and it has been stable all day.  So apparently, it seems like the drivers and VRMs (in at least these GPUs) do not seek the voltage you set, but sets the VRMs to a specific setting where under ideal circumstances will equal the specified voltage.

I'm not sure what the standard tolerance range is for the 12V line.  I am hoping 11.7 is within tolerance.  It is the same whether idle or under load and seems stable, so I hope the PSU is good.

Dabs Rig Bare motherboard, with 1050 watt PSU

Dabs Rig with 1 GPU, and a National Grid Corporation coffee mug on top of the PSU.

Booting up BAMT 1.3 R9, but no network connection yet.
Idle, 40 to 60 watts at the wall.

Not mining yet. I'm wasting time, but erghh, can't be helped yet...

Ok, I finally got the GPU to work.

Dabs Rig with 1 GPU running

Watt Meter thingie shows 190 watts, and the idle system was doing 75 watts, so can I assume the card only uses up 115 watts?

Time to do some tweaking I guess. But at almost stock, it's running 480 kh/s.

*edit 1*
After some tweaking

*edit 2*
I put in another video card, right beside the first one. This is all I can fit in the motherboard physically, without risers. I need risers to set up my rig with all the GPUs I bought.

That's awesome dabs, congrats!

Got my 270 MSI rig back online. The burning smell and shutdown issue was a failed power cable. Nothing new and improved wiring couldn't fix.
