Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

There is a great quote by Buddha:

“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”

I agree I'm having a hard time exchanging common currencies to btc aswell. I'm not sure if btc as a currency will fail or succeed but I think in terms of accessibility for the general public there still is some room for improvement.

Isn't this somewhat self defeating in that you have to trust the person making this thread who says that you shouldn't trust anyone?  In effect the original poster is saying, trust him/her but nobody else because he/she says so.

Edit: I should make clear that the above is a semi-joke/devil's advocate based on the argument that's used against nihilism.  I'd rather not get flamed for it by anyone who doesn't get it.

Am I the only one who hears the subject of this thread pronounced in the voice of any of the male Undead vendors in World of Warcraft?  I didn't think so.

Trust has to be earned. Trusting others with your money or bitcoins has to be taken seriously, but trust can be built. There are good people out there.

Especially with a new money system.  There will always be people trying to scam you out of something.  It just makes it tougher for legitimate people to make it.
As the price of bitcoins go up, it will attract more scammers.

Maybe a bit off-topic, but I get an email from Nigerian royalty specifically asking me to loan him Bitcoins, is that a good sign for the community?
