"Please warn people not to purchase Bitcoins from Coinbase.com. It took them 3 days to link to my checking account. Once I was cleared they only allowed me to purchase two bitcoins and posted a message that I would be prevented from purchasing more until delivery of my Bitcoins 5 days later. Today is March 27. Bitcoin is $88. What kind of ish is this?
Be warned people. I regret not following through with my Mt. Gox account. Readers be warned and warn others!
You have to clear at least one purchase through them before they upgrade your account and let you buy 10 a day or w/e, then 100 a day a month later. All part of their anti-fraud procedures. Not their fault that you were a bit late to the game and the price skyrocketed >_> Also, when delivered the price you get is what you paid on that day for.

I'd say that trust no-one with anything. Everyone can stab you in the back. In real life too. Always keepo your eyes open for warning signs. Never ignore them.

One thing I'm working on, is a way that you won't even have to trust your computer in order to make bitcoin transactions from a local wallet.

Yea, I have a basic idea for a design which should be relatively cheap ($30-40) when mass produced, and offer pretty much the same protection as a paper wallet, but a ton more convenient.

Raspberry pi base? Open source? I know the peeps here will rake your idea over the coals in terms of security model and won't trust anything not opn-src. I think there should be a way to instantly disable it irreversibly, should a thief demand it from you, in a way that is robustly assured. Anyway, that device is sorely needed, so I wish you good luck! Get your account out of newbie and let's see some details Maybe you can get peeps to invest come coin in it.

Unfortunately, raspberry PI is out, for my idea, because I'd like the device to connect to your computer as a USB peripheral, and the PI can't do that. I'm thinking about doing a kickstarter (or similar) and developing the whole thing as an open source project.
