Can I transfer BTC to dgex.com and use it to buy Nxt and just leave it in the exchange like with other coins? Or is setting up the wallet a requirement?
Which are Nxt competitor's?
You COULD, but I wouldn't recommend it. When you buy coins on DGEX.com, they actually live in the DGEX.com account. They are only sent to YOUR account when you "cash out". I'm sure Graviton is a trustworthy guy but I wouldn't recommend leaving coins on his exchage any more than I'd recommend leaving coins on ANY exchange.

Nope, Nxt is the first to market, and will be light years ahead of anything else when it's launched.

Does launching mean opening a decentralized exchange and releasing the client source code?

Peercoin - original proof-of-stake coin Timekoin - another "no PoW" coin but still beta eMunie - still not released but interesting.

when is Nxt going to be on exchanges like cryptsy or bter or stuff like that? or is there anybody working on the issue? cos i have heard that dgex is barely functional and also, being in those bigger exchanges will clearly boost Nxt popularity.
AFAIK BTC-e.com is waiting for the source code released. Dunno about the others. We do not plan to add Nxt dont plan, as in *ever*? or just waiting on source release / official launch?

FTR, I m against this idea, even with SSL, the data DOES get decrypted at some point on the server, and its possible for passphrases to be compromised that way
Yeah, but then non tech savvy users will be left out. Many are struggling with understanding concepts of bitcoin and how to run bitcoin wallet software to create a wallet, that's why there are online wallet services for such users who store wallets for them, although it's not safe. It wouldn't hurt to run an official public node for these users the same way, except it'd be more secure than those bitcoin online wallets, because the wallets aren't stored on the server in NXT. I mean, if the official NXT website shouldn't be trusted to run a public node for fear the info is decrypted, then it's going to be a big discouragement for potential users, who only consider to invest in NXT. I'm working on API that lets to prepare a transaction. It returns raw bytes that need to be signed on client side. That's secure, isn't it?

I'd like to ask about the planned mobile future for nxt.
I assume this current java environment is part of the alpha stage, and would expect a more user friendly "app" once it matures
What are the plans on this?
thanks and excited

I'm trying to push an idea to separate Nxt development into: 1. Core development 2. Client development Lightweight clients r supposed to connect to private or public nodes. The only requirement to client soft is that it must know how to sign transactions. Nxt core will be accessible via HTTP, HTTPS and SPDY. The protocol is based on JSON. All these things make it very simple to develop client software.

- why are you saying "future" ? Did you try to open your server ( http://yourserver:7875/) in your smartphone? It works for me on my android smartphone.

- the static IP is the best. If you have dynamic, but rarely changeable IP, you can use it. Better option is to buy cheap VPS (5$/month), and run Nxt on 24/7 basis. It also helps to strengthening Nxt network. You can try my VPS ( https://nxtboot.no-ip.biz:7875/) from your smartphone.

I got tired of typing api requests manually in the browser url, and put together a single html page with the ones I most commonly use. To run it from localhost, save it as nxt/webapps/root/admin.html and then go to https://localhost:7875/admin.html . You can see what it looks like at https://nxt.airdns.org:7875/admin.html . Here is the source: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"/> <title>NRS</title> <style type="text/css"> table {border-collapse: collapse;} td {padding: 10px;} .result {white-space: pre; font-family: monospace;} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function submitForm(form) { var url = '/nxt?'; for (i = 0; i < form.elements.length; i++) { if (! form.elements[i].name) { continue; } if (! url.endsWith('?')) { url += '&'; } url += encodeURIComponent(form.elements[i].name); url += '='; url += encodeURIComponent(form.elements[i].value); } var request = new XMLHttpRequest(); request.open("GET", url, false); request.send(); var result = JSON.stringify(JSON.parse(request.responseText), null, 4); form.getElementsByClassName("result")[0].textContent = result; return false; } </script> </head> <body> <h3>Nxt admin tools</h3> <b>Generate Hallmark:</b><br/> <form action="/nxt" method="GET" onsubmit="return submitForm(this);"> <input type="hidden" name="requestType" value="markHost"/> <table> <tr> <td>Public IP:</td> <td><input type="text" name="host"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Weight:</td> <td><input type="number" name="weight" value="100"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Date:</td> <td><input type="text" name="date" value="2013-12-10"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Secret Phrase:</td> <td><input type="password" name="secretPhrase"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> <div class="result"></div> </form> <hr> <b>Verify Hallmark:</b><br/> <form action="/nxt" method="GET" onsubmit="return submitForm(this);"> <input type="hidden" name="requestType" value="decodeHallmark"/> <table> <tr> <td>Hallmark:</td> <td><input type="text" name="hallmark"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> <div class="result"></div> </form> <hr> <b>Verify Token:</b><br/> <form action="/nxt" method="GET" onsubmit="return submitForm(this);"> <input type="hidden" name="requestType" value="decodeToken"/> <table> <tr> <td>Token:</td> <td><input type="text" name="token"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Website:</td> <td><input type="text" name="website"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> <div class="result"></div> </form> <hr> <b>Get Peers:</b><br/> <form action="/nxt" method="GET" onsubmit="return submitForm(this);"> <input type="hidden" name="requestType" value="getPeers"/> <table> <tr> <td colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> <div class="result"></div> </form> <hr> <b>Get Peer Info:</b><br/> <form action="/nxt" method="GET" onsubmit="return submitForm(this);"> <input type="hidden" name="requestType" value="getPeer"/> <table> <tr> <td>Peer:</td> <td><input type="text" name="peer"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> <div class="result"></div> </form> <hr> <b>Get State:</b><br/> <form action="/nxt" method="GET" onsubmit="return submitForm(this);"> <input type="hidden" name="requestType" value="getState"/> <table> <tr> <td colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> <div class="result"></div> </form> <hr> <b>Get My Info:</b><br/> <form action="/nxt" method="GET" onsubmit="return submitForm(this);"> <input type="hidden" name="requestType" value="getMyInfo"/> <table> <tr> <td colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> <div class="result"></div> </form> <hr> <b>Get Account Balance:</b><br/> <form action="/nxt" method="GET" onsubmit="return submitForm(this);"> <input type="hidden" name="requestType" value="getBalance"/> <table> <tr> <td>Account:</td> <td><input type="text" name="account"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> <div class="result"></div> </form> </body> </html>

Nice vid! Wideo makes making videos like that very easy, and the more we have, the better. I say that semi-facetiously, since I've spent hours working on the wiki and forums this week, and would love to see even a small fraction of the 200K+ in donations Petrik got for this work. I linked Petrik's video to the wiki. UPDATE: Someone just dropped me 50K Nxt. Really, really generous. I'm going to turn around, though, and divvy it up between myself and a few other folks who have been working hard this week -- opticalcarrier, drexme, and pinarello. Gonna spread the love, but thanks for sharing it, whoever you are. Thank you, currently I am working on "NXT mining" video, I hope it will look much better here in the Gdoc I shared on nextcoin.org I can now see: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=1Video makers:salsacz pinarello allwelder leonardosegura Translators:mcjavar german, hungarian kevinkms chnese salsacz czech pinarello dutch Sondreviking norvegian allwelder chinese pufis Lithuanian DSoft German Osman24 Turkish Tadas Lithuanian ATpr Russian or Ukrainian BaiMangal Bulgarian mactrance Dutch nxtDigger Polish Jls. french redtux french LeFiste german vodkaaa german Graphics: LeFiste mr001 Tobre Screenwriter=== If we combine these people and maybe add some english corrector, we could provide cool videos that would also be translated into many languages...
