... planning to get rid of the interface completely.
- very sad. The browser (https) access and the absence of stand-alone client is the most distinguishing (and attractive) feature of Nxt. The browser access successfully works on smartphones right now. Hope BCNext will change his mind regarding browser client. I don't like the java interface at all and would prefer a stable, fast, clean native interface. me too. i want a client which is lean, small, fast and cross os, running without installation from my usb-stick on windows, linux or mac, able to connect to my private local node, my public net node and even to other secured nodes later without any stored browser history and security concerns like this, just by one click from any place. i want to manage my account, handle shares on the asset exchange and use all the cool features nxt is providing soon without leaving the client workspace, just like a central application hub. i also want to see all quotes for other coins, best in near realtime and trade them with advanced tools and technical analysis including candlestick charts. auto-notifications on price-actions and bot-trading with backtesting tools are also welcome. i want a client which never needs updates, because this is built in and it would also nice to add special plugins with a single click and use them without restarting my os or even the client itself. all this should fit into 1mb to send the client via mail to friends without bothering them by complex multilayer installations and make them start nxt easy. well, we don't have it right now but we could we have it soon. ;-) http://87.230.14.1/charts/01_screen.png(early prototype running on my win7 vm) Omg, that looks great!

Okay. But the different features will still be implemented BEFORE the source code will be revealed, right? Do you have a roadmap?
Block 22000 - Alias System Block 25000 - Partial migration to Transparent Mining Block 30000+ - Asset Exchange (needs extensive testing) Somewhere between blocks 22K and 30K BCNext is going to release support of arbitrary messages. Such messages will have 3rd party defined format. For example, that guy with decentralized Poker will be able to start using Nxt to host game states. +100000000000 thank you and nexern, you rock!

The more I learn about Nxt, the more excited I get about it. Do we have future dates for certain Nxt milestones? Source code release, others? Maybe it's all based on blocks so we don't have dates?

New version of the mac client now has auto-update support, whenever a new version of the nxt client comes out you will be notified and asked to update. The app checks for a new version on start, and also once a day if you keep it running forever. Download here: https://copy.com/Gd4AMCJjdJ3lNow I need some people to test if the auto-update really works (as it does on my system), so you can download a version here which has the nxt 0.3.19 client included. After startup it should ask you to update. https://copy.com/MeTLJy7zhiM1Btw, you will now get a "loading blocks" message on first start. This ensures that blocks.nxt and other files are created and you do not see zero balances. This is only on first load of the app and if you haven't started the app in a week or more. Donations are appreciated, put a lot of time in to this. Only 3 donations so far. Thanks to those that did donate :-) (Nxt id in my signature) PS: Right click the application, then choose "open" if you get a security warning, this is normal - because the application is not yet signed. PS2: Make sure any other java server is not running any more before starting this app. More info: https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,708.msg5475.htmlMac 10.6.8?

Here's a quick work around to install jdk 1.7 on OSX 10.6.8 Edit the file: /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist and change your version number to 10.7.0 or higher <key>ProductBuildVersion</key> <string>10X529</string> <key>ProductCopyright</key> <string>1983-2011 Apple Inc.</string> <key>ProductName</key> <string>Mac OS X</string> <key>ProductUserVisibleVersion</key> <string>10.7.0</string> <key>ProductVersion</key> <string>10.7.0</string> download jdk1.7 from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html and install it. Change the version number back to the original value in SystemVersion.plist file. Then run: export JAVA_HOME=/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home Then download and install NRS as per usual.

can anyone explain to me how it is determined who has the right to author the next block. i understand that the more nxt you have the higher your chance, but specifically how is the "winner" selected?
also would anyone be so kind as to send some nxt to this address 17286747867026237511 so i can check to make sure i set everything up correctly
Sent you 20 NXT thanks so much! if anyone else out there is in a similar situation than let me know and ill pass the 20 along.
