Anyone want to see why I'm in a happy mood about Grain today? https://i.imgur.com/qSzPzmV.jpgAs you can imagine, I was pretty stoked when I got home and wondered why my total coins looked a little higher than I expected. Talk about luck. two giant blocks in a row!!! You're damn lucky I couldn't believe my luck! That's like two weeks of mining, right there. This is why grain rocks. congrats!!! hashrate?? 900 mhash/sec 900mh/s??? or 900kh/s??? Haha, Khash. sorry! 900mhash would be insane. hmmm... i should get my ztex and cairnsmore quads ready for mining and go solo too... right now i´m just using my 7970... pool mining...

Laptop GPU...
If you do PoW mining on your laptop you will get it fried very soon. Laptops are not designed for sustained loads of this degree.

Talk about luck. Woah! Wish I hit those haha. Nice job mate. Congrats! I tried soloing again last night and with my 190kh hit two small blocks in around 12hr. Talked to the forkpool admin as requested but isn't interested in helping out the miners on that pool with the bonus due to diff so recon I am gonna mine solo for a bit even tho the payouts are smaller and keep buying on coined. Not such a good idea to mine on a laptop bondi, you can burn out the gpu from the heat.

Does Grain, which has 2 week coinage generate approximately 2 times more PoS blocks than coin which has 4 weeks coinage? Is it cumulative effect or are there some other variables involved?
Bump. Perhaps someone could answer. Its pretty difficult to figure out how this works. Not sure I understand your question, the period a PoS generation does not affect the total amount of PoS coin generated. The total PoS is based on the annual percentage defined. Whatever the coin-days you get will be paid proportionally.

The connectivity affects the ratio of the orphans. The faster your block reaches other nodes the less orphans you will see. The number of the peers connected plays its role too

Whatever the coin-days you get will be paid proportionally. Ok, thats not what i asked. Pardon my crappy english. I try to make example. Lets say that Coin "A" uses 2 week period for PoS payments. Just like Grain does. So coin "A" block chain is averaging 4 PoW blocks per 1 PoS block. For example block order like this: PoW-PoW-PoW- PoS-PoW-PoW-PoW- PoS-... Lets say that coin "B" is using 1 week period for PoS payments. So instead of paying interest after each 2 week period, it pays after each 1 week period. In that case, does coin "B" average only 2 PoW blocks per 1 PoS block? For example like this: PoW-PoW- PoS-PoW-PoW- PoS.... Those are just random examples, but perhaps my question is clearer now.

I have the same nodes as the ones in the OP, but my wallet has 33 active connections. It's been running all week.

The grain wallet uses irc node seeding, so there is no need to point any nodes. If you like to do it anyway, this is the list of the nodes my wallet is connected presently: 192.241.215.76 95.85.26.11 169.237.74.175 198.27.97.178 162.243.208.154 54.197.230.111 192.155.82.95 198.245.51.98 2.244.112.113 192.3.162.216

Hoping it will pay for itself. I have about 0.4/05 BTC tied up in various coins after a couple of weeks mining/trading, so here's hoping I hit it big eventually.

No, 2 weeks period means only the pos is allowed to be generated if the hold period is satisfied. It does not necessarily be generated, it could be generated at 3rd week, or 5th week (with all the coin-days up to the time it is generated). All depends on the diff at that time, how many people are mining pos, and target block time (pretty much like pow mining). That's why sometimes you see pos orphans. PoS orphans do not waste you any coin-days, unused coin-days will be accumulated and eventually the pos block will be generated based on it. So this time does not affect your block time, or frequency of pos blocks. They are managed by other parameters.

Version 1.4 is Released. Version 1.4 is a mandatory upgrade, so please upgrade as soon as possible to avoid a fork. Version 1.4 changes the 12X maximum PoW block time to 3X, this will decrease the PoW mining difficulty and make PoW mining more efficient, while preserving the PoS features. The switchover point is set at block 130000, which will be in about 5-7 days (we are at block 111815 now). Version 1.4 also has the latest checkpoints. Download links and source in github are updated.
We will continue to subsidize 5000 GRAs for each PoW block mined, until the switch block (Block 130000).
