Am I the only one thinking this is a very much undervalued coin? It has istant feeless transactions, stable in years, no great bugs or whatever. It should be much higher in CMC.

This is like buying ETH at $12 Cool

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Sky will sure rise this year. The things in the pipeline in 2018 are huge and sure will draw some attention to the project

Yeah, the project was going under the radar for a long time. But this year should be amazing! Mainnet, miners, new exchanges (i hope Grin) - sounds very cool!

yeah, it's very undervalued. If this coin gets traction it will create many millionaires. I see a lot of people that are holding this coin with their teeth because of that. I'm in for the long run on this and am dedicated to hold until the project is a true success and completely replaces tor

My largest question is how do they plan on getting people outside of forums such as this to adopt their platform?

Any plans to add Skycoin to the BarterDEX decentralized exchange?

They are working with advertising agency now. There was no need to do it earlier. Testnet is coming and mainnet after that soon. So now is the time.

https://youtu.be/MXSo9LuMxZE

Hey Crypto Rocker, watched your video. Its not clear to me, who is Jane? Whats her role on skycoin? Why is she not listed in the team members or github?

Jane Zhang is the founder of Shellpay, a company that reportedly owns the patent for the Skyledger blockchain platform. Her company is focused on private blockchain implementations on Skyledger such as in an ongoing government project in Dubai.

Centralized institutions dominate our world and are expected to continue to exist for the forseeable future. These governments and corporations demand to have total control over their blockchains, while speed and scalability are among attractive features that skyledger offers.

Projects like Skycoin, Spaco, Solarbankers, Metallicoin, and MDL, are public blockchains built on Skyledger. These are proper cryptocurrencies that use a decentralized consensus algorithm and provide the security and property rights required by future civilization.

This arrangement is good for Skycoin and other Skyledger cryptos because it proves the flexibility of the technology and creates demand for the growth of infrastructure. The future will see hybrid implementations with consortiums and pegged sidechains. Global industry reliance on the Skywire network resulting in political security for its infrastructure and private participants.

Starts with reddit = 2,500 SkyCoinProject crossposted to 47,000 DarkNetPlan...
There are all these scattered meshnet projects, but no clear leader at this point.

I'm not sure where "governments and corporations" fit in here...
Since they require centralization and can just buy/build anything they need.

BarterDEX does cross-chain atomic swaps between different currencies.  No trusted 3rd party.  No Mt. Gox or Cryptsy style counterparty risk.

Besides, BarterDEX is just booting up and hasn't even had an official release yet.  It'll be one of the larger ones if people use it.

Thank you for the clarification. My inaccurate information came from the wikipedia page for Jane Zhang.

Haha that fud artickles here have some more of them. they all came out at the same time. Its almost as if they were a paid hit piece campaign.

I like this part.

Quote
Agreeing to elect one's leader (or a temporary ruler, we contend, is not a very intelligent behavior either. Here is why. Leader election is a natural adaptation in situations when group's survival requires high intelligence, while the average intelligence of group members is low. Hence the group, in order to survive, has to find a member who can make intelligent decisions for the group. Such behavior is modeled after sheeple, or after species that have a predilection for being led, which does not seem to be congruent with cryptocurrency community.

Does this sound like "algorithm design" to you? Or what are your thoughts on section 0.3.4 "Before Consensus Trials"

Its fun because its interactive, prompting thoughts on section 0.3.4.

Thats right, like Ellon Degeneras said, "nobody understands".

The section is talking about designing the consensus algorithm, Obelisk. What does consensus even mean? we dont understand, it certainly cant have anything to do with human behavior. A computery computing document about computers could only be related to mathematics, science, or robots.

When a government wants to enforce their policy on all the people do they achieve consensus? Nah. They come in with bribery, kidnapping, torture, murder.

Its not like this is going to make people scared and step in line u know.

Take any form of governance involving humans throuought our history as an example. Even small organizations that have only internal policy. All of them have employed human actors to take the constituent roles within the organization, and seek to manipulate the behavior of these participants so that their conduct follows along with policy.

In software, the code dictates policy to the machines, but machines are perfect slaves. Where we wish to interact with the system, there needs to be an interface to the human organism. Where there are humans, there are hostile attacks, similar to what we are seeing with this series of articles. Even in the face of attackers; participants, human or machine, need to be forced to continue following policy.

Have we chosen to station armed soldiers within each of your homes, ready to shred your meat and bone? I hope not.

In Bitcoin the policy of the network is enforced by requiring miners to expend large resources in order to publish a block. Theoretically, the miners are therefore compelled not to defraud the network. The miners are human beings demonstrating human behavior.

The Obelisk consensus algorithm seeks to better avoid centralized corruption by using soverign nodes, each having upstream and downstream peer relationships. These nodes maintain their own whitelisting of peers to form a web of trust and marginalize malicious actors.

This need for a consensus algorithm in the creation of organized decentralized ecosystems for human beings cuts to the core of the cryptocurrency movement. It is a political movement coupled with technological innovation. The type of stuff that separates civilization from barbarism.

Also dont forget that you are encouraged to build your own DIY skywire miner.

Looks like FUD. The vast majority of comments on the Reddit are negative. It's suspicious, where are the supporters of the project? And the negative is focused on the developers and their bad attitude to the community, which is a lie. I did not see in the answer of the representative of the skycoin bad attitude. I didn't find a single negative review that proves a technical failure of the project. So, i don't think it's scam.
