I've just sent email to our programmer to add Bitinstant balance parameter to API. Hopefully you will find this useful.
Hi Nejc! Any updates on this my friend? Have a nice day! Thanks! Thiago

I am sorry for your deposits were not processed right away. Unfortunately BitInstant has run out of reserves meaning your accounts couldn't be funded instantly.
Your deposits should get processed shortly as BitInstant has just funded their account.
Best regards Nejc
Why can't you allow bitinstant to just be in debt to you?

Why can't you allow bitinstant to just be in debt to you? Bitstamp and BitInstant have an optimal relationship in regards to that that works for both parties, there are many factors in play.

Hej bitstamp support.
I have BIG delay every time I deposit USD to my bitstamp account via bitinstant. Bitinstant reported "order complete" instantly, but money appeared on my account only next day in one case and today they also still somewere.
How can I contact support by phone?
Can you make information about your bitinstant reserves open to public?

The bitcoins held by BITSTAMP are in a hosted (shared) EWallet right? So you can't look at the blockchain to check your BITSTAMP account balance. With a hosted (shared) EWallet, that Bitcoin address is tied to your account so the wallet provider knows of your bitcoin deposits. But what happens from there at the blockchain level is no longer tied to your account.

The website clearly states three block confirmations until your balance is available.

Then please use the proper description. If your account history doesn't show a BTC deposit then that's a different problem than what you had originally reported (as a "hacked" account would require the deposit to first be credited to your account before it could be withdrawn). Either way, the solution will come from contacting BITSTAMP support.

I only decided to use the exchange to test Ripple and was hoping of being able to recommend the exchange to my friends.

After linking Bitstamp support to the previous post to prove I'm not scamming my account was soon credited. Which I am happy about as Bitstamp is currently the only trusted Ripple Gateway to use GBP.

I wonder about this too, how can we do anything practical with the bitstamp ripple address?
Yes you can fund your Bitstamp account with accepted Ripple IOU's and cash them out.

I don't know how closely the Bitstamp guys watch this thread, but I am curious as to how they support disposable deposit addresses without their hot wallet getting wallet bloat. If anyone knows, please PM me. I'm researching disposable deposit addresses for use on btct.co.
Thanks!
