A question to Bitstamp support: if I declare a transfer of USD 50,000 and you will receive only 49,950 (due to transfer fees), will it (amount discrepancy) somehow lengthen the process of crediting the account?

It will not. But if you forget to include your account's 'Message' number in the purpose(message, reference) of the transfer it may.

Thanks Hazek.

Why do they even need so much stuff (id, bill proof etc). This annoys people. All of my friends have forgoten about BTC when they heard they have to deliver all that data to be conveniently stored in a database.
Why not do like Bitcoin.de? Just send a small quantity with a code to verify you own and have access to the bank account and thats it, stop asking for ID and so on, it's a pain in the ass and slow. BTC is supossed to make all of this easier and more private.

You wish. That is not legal under any law, so they have to ask for documents, and even then, if the goverment chooses that it is not reliable, they can close them down. They have to ask for everything like Paypal, otherwise bye bye

Update - they finally replied to the ticket, and said they will process the withdrawal soon.  I don't think that these people are running off with our money, but they are having some serious communication issues.

If/When I get the wire, I'll post here.

Update again - guys, I finally received the wire.  I wanted to be fair to bitstamp and not just leave any uncertainty hanging in the air.  Although I had somewhat panicked at first, things worked out in the end.

Good luck to all

Hazek,

I have one more question to ask (I apologize for being a nuisance): I entered your bank details (BACXSI22) but my bank's system keeps on changing your banks name from ''Unicredit banka Slovenija d.d.'' into ''BANK AUSTRIA CREDITANSTALT D.D.''

I am not sure I have it correctly but there seems to be two banks with the same swift code (both in Ljubliana): http://www.openswiftcodes.com/swift-bacxsi22

I have no idea what to do about it  Huh

I do want to send the money, but I am afraid it would go to the wrong bank  Smiley

Any comment on the Slovenia banking troubles? Should I be worried about my dollars on Bitstamp?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=173318.40

Edit: The bank used by Bitstamp (Unicredit Slovenia) needs to raise €14m.

Yeah, I'll comment:

ANY bank in the world is insolvent and needs to raise money. This is neither Slovenia nor Bitstamp's bank specific. Nothing to worry about.

Unless you closed your account like me. I think that might have something to do with why I've been waiting a week to get my bitcoins from them.

Yo Bitstamp, are you gonna help this guy out, or what?

Ok, its been almost two weeks now since I closed my account, and I still haven't gotten my coins. Does anyone know what is going on there?

My mom deposited $5,000 over international wire on that Friday when Bitstamp had their issue (November 15th). They kept asking for more proof of ID, which she sent in, and at this point just reply a few days after she asks, only to tell her that they will notify her by e-mail as soon as her transfer is located and her fund balance is credited. (Ticket #32798). It has been almost 4 weeks now. So, Bitstamp, despite claims on their website, has not caught up with their deposits yet, and we have no idea what to do any more. Just sit and wait, and wait, and wait a few more weeks?

1. Your mom must have sent it to this SWIFT #BACXSI22 - there is no other way to fund the USD account than to send it to a bank with this SWIFT code.

2. The catch is: this SWIFT code is / was assigned to two different banks:

- Unicredit banka Slovenija d.d http://www.swift.com/bsl/index.faces?bicSearch_bic=BACXSI22&bicSearch_institution=UNICREDIT%20BANKA%20SLOVENIJA%20DD%20%20&bicSearch_country=SLOVENIA this is Bitstamp's bank

- BANK AUSTRIA CREDITANSTALT D.D. http://www.swift.com/bsl/index.faces?bicSearch_bic=BACXSI22&bicSearch_institution=BANK%20AUSTRIA%20CREDITANSTALT%20D.D.%20LJUBLJANA&bicSearch_country=SLOVENIA this is NOT Bitstamp's bank

3. Maybe your mom's bank is just as retarded as my bank and sent it to Creditanstalt instead of Unicredit? This is just a hypothesis.

What can I say - Bitstamp is solid.
I've requested a bit larger SEPA withdrawal yesterday night. Was expecting several days for them to confirm, but bam, it's already done today EOB. Always less than one day. Cannot give enough credit to these people, big respect.

And in the meantime in Gox'land: they've forced triggered my verification, simply because I've logged from my office IP from different region. I cannot even move my BTC untill verification is completed, what's already taking two weeks. Once this is done - I will run away from Gox like hell.

Bitcoin is physical.

No. Solid would have returned my coins by now. I withdrew from CampBX, mcxNOW, Cryptsy and BTCe and ALL of them sent me my coins instantly. I've been waiting on bitstamp for two weeks now just to send me bitcoin.

It's absolutely ridiculous.

Both the banks are in Slovenia. Your mom should have a look at her monthly statement (or at her e-banking interface) and see the factual bank's name.

If it reads ''Creditanstalt'', then she should contact her bank and request the money back or be resend to the correct bank.

If it reads ''Unicredit'', then Bitstamp and / or its bank may be at fault.

If I remember correctly, Creditanstalt was fused into Unicredit few years ago. Maybe that's the cause of this collision.

It is my understanding that both banks did not fuse into one single entity: http://www.bankaustria.at/en/about-us-bank-austria-the-bank-from-1855-until-today.jsp
Creditanstalt is just Unicredit's asset (a member group, a separate legal entity).

Just a guess: Creditanstalt keeps Rassah's mom funds:
- and doesn't not know what to do with it (there maybe some communications glitches between Creditanstalt and Unicredit, procedures may not be working, etc.)
or
- until somebody - the sending bank - screams.

I might be completely wrong with this ''one SWIFT code, two different banks'' (mis)lead. This is just a hypothesis about why Rassah's mom funds don't get through.

Oh wait, you're not.

Not sure which Bitcoin wallet to use? I can highly recommend Electrum.
Electrum is an open-source lightweight client: user friendly, extremely fast, and one of the safest ways to store and use your bitcoins.
Executables are available on the Electrum homepage, so you can get a Bitcoin wallet up and running on your own computer in a few minutes.
