My 290 isnt running this :s it just insta disables the gpu in cgminer

Again, you probably have too much thread-concurrency, although normally that means cgminer won't even start. If it insta-disables, it's likely you need to reduce memclock and core-clock below what you use for normal scrypt as vertcoins algorythm is different to be more ASIC resistant and uses more VRAM, it's likely you need to drop especially memclock and maybe core as well.

could be. If you reduced your TC to get running slowly increase it. Most find they are getting around 50% normal scrypt hashrate.

tnks,

Yeah, I agree with Aleks, you should get maybe 350kh/s, but only when comparing the same intensities. If you can get TC higher do that first, then once you've found the highest TC you can reliably start at, start increasing memclock and cpu clock, once you've maxed them out, then tweak the intensity up. About 12 should be find for desktop use, and for a mining rig that isn't used for anything else you'll get to I18 or I20 before it becomes unstable.

But 290kh for a 280x is too less, it should be ~350kh (i get ~300kh per 7950 @1000/1500).
Have you mined scrypt before? If yes, try to use the same settings, just lower TC.

Can anyone provide an example command line for Bufius' modified cgminer. I am trying to use my R9 280x with it and when I add the --scrypt i only get around 8 khps.

This is the command line:

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -w 256 -v 1 -I 13 -g 2 -l 1 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1080 --shaders 2048 --temp-cutoff 85 --gpu-platform 1 -d 0 -o http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:5888 -u x -p x/code]

This is great guys - network is looking really healthy now with a good spread across the pools on the pool overview at www.vertcoin.com - keep it up.

cgminer.exe --scrypt -w 256 -v 1 -I 13 -g 2 -l 1 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1080 --shaders 2048 --temp-cutoff 85 --gpu-platform 1 -d 0 -o http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:5888 -u x -p x

I'm not sure what -v is? Try removing that entirely. Take out --shaders, since it's redudant if you're specifying --thread-concurrency (it gets overrideen), --gpu platform I'm not familiar with, same with -d. I suspect -l 1 is specifying a !=2 lookup gap which can kill performance. On a 280x you should be able to get higher TC as well.

Try:

cgminer.exe --scrypt -w 512 -I 13 --thread-concurrency 24550 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1000 --temp-cutoff 85 -o http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:5888 -u x -p x

Thanks..that got me on the right track but had to half the thread-concurrency to 12250 otherwise it was throttling to 8khps. By reducing it to to 12k, and changing engine to 1080, I am averaging around 340 khps.

Is it possible to solo this coin anymore?

Cool, yeah, I can run 24550 on R9 290, but I have a bit more VRAM. 340khps sounds _really_ good - I'm only just squeezing 400 from the 290s.

Network hashrate is now 85MH/s (equivalent to about 180-200MH/s normal scrypt), so at 340KH/s you'd be about 0.4% of the network, so with blocks every 2.5 minutes you'd expect a block about every 10 hours, so yeah, you could just about solo today, but probably not by tomorrow. The pools all seem honest on this coin, so to reduce variance I'd just take the 1-2% hit and pool mine it - I'm pooling with 2MH/s.

Yeah, some miners maybe dumping cheap - I'm holding this. I might even buy some at these prices, but I'm mining too, I don't think it'll be this cheap in a day or two.

I am waiting for the Litecoin community to get agitated resulting into people diversifying into vertcoins from litecoins. even if 10% of current litecoin supporters back this coin up. it would be worth 1/10 of a litecoin.

Definitely a Hold or Buy status on this one. Lol at miners selling them cheaply on 0daycoins.
