http://vertcoin.org/downloads/Vertcoin-setup.exe

Websense ThreatSeeker   Malicious site??

just downloaded the zip.. but wtf..

It's a false positive. Why I don't know - if you look at the virustotal links, you'll see that 50 out of 51 "site analysis" came back clean, and if you click the "go to downloaded file analysis" to look at vertcoin-setup.exe itself, it will show that all 47 of 47 scans came back clean.

TC should be about 70% of whatever you use for normal scrypt coins. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=416572 has a lot of information, please contribute there with your GPU type, working settings and hashrate achieved once you're up and running.

OP UPDATED WITH NEW WALLET BUILD

Please can everyone update their wallet using either the links in the OP, or at http://www.vertcoin.org to help out with making sure new users wallets can sync quickly, and smooth the process as the VTC network grows.

Just a reminder. Please update your wallet, as the seed nodes are getting overloaded.

... i think the CPU part should be clarified. It induces people with cpu's to think they can actually mine Vertcoin at this point, when that's really not the case.  If it is a strategy to bring more people into the coin, it will only backfire when disgruntled CPU folks realize its not working for them. ...

Well, I still have this file on my system:

-rw-rw-r--. 1 zeta11 zeta11 11183317 Jun 26  2011 /home/zeta11/Downloads/bitcoin-0.3.23-linux.tar.gz

and I greatly regret that I never actually unpacked and used it.  So I am taking my 4.07 vertcoins after one day happily and just wish I did that in 2011.

Oh, and I am running vertcoind at 207.255.42.202:5889 with 30 incoming connections.  I suppose that must be the maximum.  How to increase it?

I think vertcoin.conf can take a maxconnections=N option. As I understood it, the default in bitcoind was 125 connections in total, and 8 outbound, so you should probably be getting more than 30 unless @vertcoin has changed the default inbound connection limit. Thanks for running a node.

Network hashrate growing and price rising on CoinedUp, now around the 0.000085 BTC mark. Market depth looks set for further price rises too, lots of support on the buy-side and very little depth to the sells at these prices:

Must have a massive solominer moved in (or a private pool) - has anyone else noticed that the network hashrate is much more than the sum of the pools...

The largest, http://vert.bitcrush.info. I assumed that this omission was intentional to protect the coin.

Yes that would make sense. IMO the bitcrush operator should have self moderated already and temporarily closed registrations to prevent having too high a proportion of the hashrate. That's probably why it is unlisted for the time being.
