Totally agree and hope HR will continue being our tech guru and providing a place for real technical discussion whilst integrating what us mere mortals need to know and understand into the other forums, which quite frankly will include subject matter he simply wouldn't be interested in, like what the market is doing today!

Cheesy  Oh but I am interested in price! It's just that I am more often wrong than right - witness the latest example: http://asistec-ti.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=123   Sad

That's a thread I started a while back, so you can't accuse of not being equal opportunity.   Grin

And thanks for the very flattering comments, but tech guru? I'm not so sure about that. Perhaps a googling fool might be more accurate.  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

It will follow the price to the moon, I'm sure it would do that for nothing. One day it will attract the centralized bitcoin miners of today so this is your last chance to get in before them.

I know you are interested in the price, who isn't? I would like to see it back up in the 65-70sats this week, wouldn't I 24 Grin but it won't be me pushing it.

Finally got my internet back!

While I was stuck on a lousy 3g connection I started work on a new website that queries live digibyte nodes and then plots them out on a google map. Still have some work to do on the backend but its starting to come together.

This is awesome! Thank you for sharing! PM us when your online.

Right now, you can probably buy more DigiByte with the money you would have spent on electricity to mine it!

I would say sha mining for DigiByte was taking about 2.5mDGB a day which I'm estimating to be around a third of the overall daily take, using ball park figures off the top of my head. You could put your order in for the total days takings at the current price, it may even get filled by someone with enough DGB that couldn't resist perhaps even more than once but it would only take a few people trying to do that before the price of DGB started climbing rapidly.
At the moment, the market place isn't really representative of the people that would actually like to buy some and BTC is still a bit of hustle to get hold of, requiring you to hand over personal information to, in the main, unregulated businesses which may or may not be trustworthy.
In other words DigiByte can be bought for silly money now, we all know it and our numbers are growing.

There are so many different posts and ideas it's too difficult which to choose to quote ... so, this is more of a general response.

I completely (like 100% completely) understand the arguments that this bitcointalk forum is a significant and important aspect of the current marketing and spreading the word about DGB.  One of the dangers of online communities is that they become isolated echo chambers.  They isolate ideas rather than connect and spread them.

It's relevant for DGB - and good for DGB - that we have one of the best and most prodigious altcoin forums in bticointalk.  And, the previous comments are right on track ... that having a great forum here on bitcointalk helps DGB by encouraging like-minded people to get involved.

Also - less important - but also - there's a time factor.  I'm busy.  I'm sure you're busy too.  More forums and discussions means more time.

However, I also think there's a place and reason for both.  Having the primary DGB forum be here on bitcointalk reinforces the idea that DGB is subordinate to BTC.  In reality, at the present moment, that's true.  DGB is currently subordinate to BTC.  BTC had a head start ... so we don't yet have as big a community, or as many merchants, companies, etc..  I believe that someday we will ... and even more, I believe that DGB has the potential to emerge as a true alternative to BTC ... not just as a subordinate.  In order for us to achieve the goal of developing DGB into a true alternative to BTC, we need to start building the infrastructure to be independent - and, a dedicated forum is part of that necessary infrastructure.  It's not the only part - but it is part of that effort.

I know that HR has done - and I'm sure will continue to do - great work towards providing support discussions in http://asistec-ti.com ... maybe some of those will eventually get cross posted, linked, etc., as they are here.

There are also other possibilities and benefits in the dedicated forum ... things that haven't yet been considered, like an informal marketplace for trading, or selling goods within the community.  There are just so many possibilities.

My only real criticism is that I'm not a huge fan of "simple-machines" forums.  There are better, more interactive, and interesting forum templates.  But, beggars can't be choosers.  Because I have neither the time or the expertise to develop an administer a forum, I'm on board with whatever.

We agree it is very important to keep the discussion going here on BTC Talk as this is our #1 source of new users and attention. However, this site is a single point of failure and we are definitely in favor of having a DigiByte specific forum to begin sprouting our own two legs to stand on for the long term.

We will begin posting both here as well as on DigiByteForum as well as more technical stuff on HR's forum.  We like the idea of having different ways to come together as a community if anything should happen to one particular website or entity. After all, this is a decentralized digital currency.  We have always envisioned our role diminishing as time goes on and DigiByte takes on a life of its own.

Also remember everyone is invited to help with wiki: http://digibytewiki.com/index.php/Main_Page

Guys, I think we should create a skype call community, where we can share information instantly... and talk about DigiByte a lot Smiley

If we already have one, can someone add me please. You can also add me in person, that will be great, too? Thank you. Skype ID: "halinyo"
Please mention your BCT username.

We are not aware of a Skype community. Is this possible? Or is it a matter of adding several contacts?

Remember we also have the IRC chat room #digibytecoin, we also like to stay in #digibyte

More nodes = more people confirming blocks and transactions are valid. I'm still doing some work on the backend and the screenshot I showed won't be the final list of nodes. With that being said satoshi never meant for everyone on the network to be using "Full Nodes" (Core client holding the entire blockchain and synced to the network). The current list is pretty good in terms of an altcoins nodes, bitcoin itself usually sits around the 6k mark.

Sorry I posted the last question as you posted this response... So 20,000 DGB is all I'm going see huh.... Yeah, not happy mate....

Feel free to PM us your address and we can check the database logs, some blocks will be pending as well.
I´m curious about your payout,Care to share?  Cheesy

Return was very low for the cost to run it (understatement)... Seems to be a quirk with running the miners used for my contract on the Digihash pool as I get expected returns on any other alt or pool. I can't run these contracts any slower than 6GH/s scrypt algo and I think that's got something to do with the problem where Digihash is concerned. Anyhow, final figures were as follows...

Hashes Run: 100,000 GH
DGB Earned: Approx 24650
DGB USD Value: Approx $2.40
Cost to run USD: Approx $105.00
ROI USD: -$102.40

I'd love to support Digihash with my scrypt contracts but that's a bit too rich for me! I now run my contracts on other Alt's where I get the expected returns and then convert it to DGB. I get some losses for fees etc but it's nowhere near what I lost above, a couple dollars at most. The wierdest thing is i ran a 30,000 GH test the day before the above one, and it all went fine (76,000 DGB earned). Next day I committed to 100,000 GH and everything went to pot... This was also the day that payouts froze so I can't help but think something went wrong on Digihash's end, but I could be wrong, so it's not worth creating a fuss over it.

I've also got about 400MH/s of dedicated hardware in our datacentre but I don't want to push that onto Digihash until I can be sure of returns, as my connections are power metered so I stand to lose alot if anything goes wrong and I can't make it out to the datacentre for a few days (travel alot for business).

Still want to support the developers of Digibyte however, so I'm running a much smaller remotely accessible 90MH/s rig on Digihash which seems to be going okay Smiley

Ouch that is a big loss indeed and we can understand that you do not want to put more hashes into DGB because that would just be insane!
I dont have any explanation for this but maybe some others can help you.

But  hey,Again thank you for the support you still give to the Digibyte network!
