Happy new year to all DGB supporters and team, I'm still holding and hoping Digibyte will be on top again soon.

Here's a quick short analysis of DigiByte for the year 2016.  Basically, my expectations. So do not take them as some kind of prophecy:

1) Most of DigiByte's ecosystem are already in place: DigiSpeed, DigiGaming, DigiByteTip, DigiByteMarket, DigiHash EasyMiner, Wallet for all platforms (Windows, Apple, Ubuntu, Web, Android & iOS), partnership with Tofugear (OmniTech + DGB for merchants), etc. It is a hell lot of work if you ask me. Most of them were developed in year 2015 alone. They are definitely not well furnished or finalized but i believed, at least well-tested enough to take the next step: to be finished. So i expect to see improvements in all of these areas before the end of 2016 (hopefully by mid 2016) and i expect to see all links working, things kept up-to-date like the blog (it looks dead. remove it temporarily if need to please), etc.

2) I do not know if there are going to be anything new. But once all those mentioned above have been finalized, we should expect to see marketing and more partnerships/collaborations, merchants, more games besides L.O.L., etc. Things should get a lot more ACTIVE and more news about DigiByte. if there is going to be anything new, well...i guess it will be quite mind-blowing because most of the basic stuff are done as mentioned above. So left the advanced stuff. some kind of exchange? Remember DigiByte intends to go global. So i don't know what else. i shall leave it up to Jared and his Team.

3) I don't expect DigiByte to be taking the world by storm anytime soon . if 2016 isn't a good year for DigiByte, then i can only look at what Jared and his DigiByte Team has in store for DigiByte. BUT i do expect to see small signs of globalization - an Active DigiMan flying around making some splashes and a few waves in 2016. not standing here making noise getting busy with the next upgrade. We can't have DigiByte in "Under Development" status for too long or forever. DigiMan needs to learn to take a walk out in the park while in Version 1.0, engage in some activities with people and then while all that is happening, Version 2.0 is in the works. A good example is Ethereum. They are still "Under Development" BUT there are already a lot of Dapps created on Ethereum. Sorry if i sound like i'm trying to promote Ethereum here. But i do think its one coin to really study and take away some lessons to innovate and improve.

4) i expect to see chinese market involve with DGB. Tencent just bought over L.O.L. and they fully own it. Maybe Tencent can take over to sponsor players with DigiByte. i came across some comments saying "OH LORD! Here comes the microtransactions!!" just because of Tencent. So if they are then it would be a good idea to maybe try to get in touch with them. i mean DGB is already being used, to earn from LOL games and to be spend on DigiByteMarket and on that market there's some LOL stuff. So i feel that Tencent should get involved or at least be bothered that DigiByte is trying to do something here with L.O.L. Good opportunity i see here.

Okay. so you are done reading. if you are new and its your first time here: go buy DGB now. Or you are going to be late for the scene. If all goes well with DigiByte's Ecosystem...it will start to expand and we shall see it GLOBALIZED. once that happens, it means you are late to the scene and the ship has already left. the price now is around 30SAT. That's your ENTRY.

Kudos everyone. May the Trades be with you.  Cool

◈◈◈ Trading Tip ◈◈◈
When trading altcoin/BTC, don't leave any amount of BTC sitting in the exchange's wallet.
Instead, sit them in Buy Orders at extremely low price ranges (or near All-Time Low range). Whenever you need BTC, simply cancel them.
Just remember - Don't put up a huge buy order as doing so will most likely result in not getting filled up.

You guys must let the price go above 100 before you start dumping. Is it really worth dumping for 2 or 3 times profit.

So we went from 15 sats to 120 sats then from 20 sats to 1000 sats and have since fallen back to 25-30 sats. Anyone who doesn't see 30 sats as a new years gift is solely focused on the prolonged dump and not looking at reality. TRADE WHAT YOU SEE. 30 sats is a GREAT buy. Point made no more ranting...off to buy more DGB.

I agree 30 Sata is a great price, I am going to buy another 2 Million DGB's shortly, possibly more to keep me busy before Midnight GMT, Happy New Year....

I'm full up, and looking to sell, but my first asking price for a very small proportion of my holdings is 800 SAT.   Cool  Nothing less, and, at the other extreme - with everything else in between - there'll be an equally small portion that I'll never sell.   Wink

Happy New Year to everyone too!

I'll dump a bit on the newbies at 800 too, because I doubt any of you guys will be buying more then.  Grin

I will keep buying even at 800, but not 2,000,000 a week it will be closer to 80,000 a week

Even buying BTC now can make you a small profit, buy from a big exchange (BitStamp) and sell it to the public at Bittylicious or LocalBitcoin.

Found DGB selling on a new exchange, might be old news but they are not listed on the Digibyte website (maybe it should be).

https://yobit.net/en/trade/DGB/BTC

YoBit - Currently trading at 31 (as you would expect) with a volume of 0.01 BTC over the last 24 hours

A Few Thoughts on DigiSpeed & Blockchain Scalability

Question #1: Why does DigiByte need to be able to match Visa's average transactions per second?

Short answer: Utility, usability, marketability and growth well into the future. "DigiSpeed" has already became a buzzword in the crypto community and has a very marketable appeal moving forward. More importantly DigiByte takes a bold step forward with DigiSpeed to dramatically scale a blockchain with multi-algorithim mining. However, this does not mean the DigiByte blockchain size will jump dramatically over night.

Question #2: I can't afford to mine and run 8 MB blocks on my PC?

Short Answer: We are a long way off from hitting 8 MB blocks. We are not even coming close to filling 1 MB blocks. This change simply removes a cap that Satoshi himself even admitted was an arbitrary limit he put together on the fly. Our assumption is we will not see 8 MB blocks until several years from now.

Question #3: What incentive will people have in the future to run a full DigiByte node when there is a large amount of data in the blockchain?

Short answer: The "DigiSize v5.0 wallet we are planning for mid-late 2016 will tackle this issue head on. This will include advanced pruning and syncing features as well as some increased incentives for running a full node. We are tossing around several ideas for what this incentive might look at. Perhaps a staking feature, perhaps a new type of mining algorithim or perhaps some other feature yet to be thought up. We would like all the input we can get on this topic. In the end the key to long term survival and network security is tens of thousands of people around the world running full DigiByte nodes.

Question #4: Won't people attack the chain with bloated transactions and OP RETURN data?

Short Answer: This is a very real possibility that we are going to mitigate up front by increasing the average transaction fee (still a very small amount). And we open the amount of this increase up to debate. The best way to explain this is if someone wanted to fill up an 8MB with thousands of small transactions in theory they could. But if it cost them exponentially more to carry this out the attack vector is mitigated. As for OP RETURN data, we will be keep this as is. Future security applications that embed data in OP RETURN should make use of distributed hash tables, not storing data directly on the chain.

Question #5: Transactions are becoming larger than 250 kb, wont this make the issue worse?

Short Answer: Yes some transactions are indeed larger than 250 KB and the average transaction size in the future will undoubtedly be larger but for now its a solid number to work from for averages.

Question #6: With such fast block times and sizes wont transactions be "lost"?

Short Answer: With multi-algorithm mining we are actually in a unique position compared to other coins who have tried with very fast block times. Even though the DigiByte network as a whole will see 15 second block times, each individual algo and mining pool actually is generating 1 minute 15 second blocks. Meaning each block has over a minute to pick up transactions. Some great data on network propagation can be found here: Microsoft Research: http://www.tik.ee.ethz.ch/file/49318d3f56c1d525aabf7fda78b23fc0/P2P2013_041.pdf

Question #7: Are you testing massive swings in difficulty?

Short Answer: Absolutely. But after DigiShield and Multi shield this is much less of an issue than the Bitcoin test data that was shown for BTC that showed this to be a problem with larger blocks. Bitcoin still retargets every 2 weeks.

Question #8: Where is the test data for DigiSpeed?

Short Answer: Before releasing the hard fork wallets we will release data on the following points:
*Transaction Times
*Block Times
*Algo Distribution
*Transaction Sizes
*Other data we find useful

Question #9: Why not release DigiSpeed by using a timestamp in the future or by network consensus instead of making network changes occur at a specific block?

Short Answer: By using a specific block everyone knows exactly when the changes to the network will occur. This dramatically mitigates several attack vectors. It also gives people the choice to opt out ahead of time if they so chose. It is also important to note this will be DigiBytes fourth hard fork. The previous three were carried out successfully in the same manner.

Question #10: With block-speed doubling wont that mean twice as many DigiBytes will be coming in to circulation each day?

Short Answer: No. At the hardfork point the reward will be cut in half so the same amount of daily DigiBytes will be mined.

In closing it is important to note we are not going to rush anything here until we are 100% happy with our test data and have addressed all of the communities questions. We would also encourage everyone to read this blog post by the Bitcoin developer Mike Hearn: https://medium.com/@octskyward/on-block-sizes-e047bc9f830

Let us know other technical questions you have and as they come in we will post replies below here:

I'm bumping this because the BCT direct link to the original message does not work and I want to share it with others.

To my understanding the wallet is still in maintenance so even if you tried the transaction would not go through

Guys how useful would a raspberry pi image that's loaded with all the necessary components of a DigiNode be? If there is enough demand I'll get on it.

I don't really know are you asking the devs for an opinion or us peasants, but I would most definitely have use for it. Smiley
