enjoy your internet censorship lol use tor to access bitmit. It's kind of ridiculous given that CEO Dane Jasper is a free internet crusader. Sonic is supposed to be less restrictive than the big ISP's like AT&T and Comcast. that's why I use them https://wiki.sonic.net/wiki/Open_Internet_Principals

Well.. now the the US got a great firewall too? .. We figured out that Bitmit was blacklisted in one spam/phishing blacklist (WS SURBL) for some reason. This might be the reason some of users did not get any mails in the last days. However we managed it to get Bitmit removed from it. I am not sure if this blacklist entry is related with your sonic censorship. Can you please check if it does work now? (It may take some time until your dns server refreshes the cache) BitMit is the best Bitcoin market and a super good site for goods. Tip: make it easier to add ratings. When I click a person's profile, I expect a button to add feedback if it's a trading partner or a friend.
Thx for the positive feedback. We only allow you to give feedback for Bitmit orders, you won't be able to give feedback to orders that were placed outside of the bitmit system. But I am aware that we should integrate the give feedback option straight into the order page.

I just checked Bitmit and it is now unblocked. I have access to Bitmit through Sonic once agains. yay But this is very interesting that you got listed in this spam/phishing blacklist. It very well could be related to that. As a buyer/trader for some months now I know this isn't a phishing site so I'm guerssing somebody maliciously added Bitmit to that list. Perhaps the same people that were DDoS attacking 2 months ago? Maybe it's Bitmits competition who is doing all these nefarious things? who knows? But what really bothers me is that this small ISP, Sonic.net who is supposed to have less restrictions that the big AT&T and Comcast blocked Bitmit because somebody *said* Bitmit was a phishing site, not because it actually *was* a phishing site That would mean that any website could end up on a phishing blacklist just because somebody doesn't like it, or doesn't like the owner, or had bad experience with another user of the site. It would be no different than adding this forum to a blacklist because I had a bad experience with one of it's users This alone should be embarrassing for Sonic the ISP. For me it's truly bizarre since Bitmit is one of the few places I have NOT been scammed. I've been scammed with Paypal and Moneypack. In fact just about any reversible transaction involving fiat money is subject to scam, so if they're going to be blocking anything, they should be blocking Paypal and Moneypack and even Ebay and banks for that matter That's what makes it so utterly weird. Bitmit is the one place I have NOT been scammed because it uses bitcoin and has escrow. And as long as there's escrow and feedback with users, it's good to go Every single trade I've done on Bitmit has gone smooth. In fact, I've found it safer than using Localbitcoins because now there are reports of people trading bitcoins in person with counterfeit cash, right here in San Francisco http://coinbits.com/2013/10/01/i-was-given-counterfeit-20-bills-in-exchange-for-bitcoins-at-a-localbitcoins-com-trade-seller-beware/I have not had this problem on Bitmit. In fact, I noticed the recent extra security measure where Bitmit now requires email verification when you pay for an item with your Bitmit wallet. I'm assuming this is to stop man in the middle attacks or some kind of unauthorized release of wallet funds. It's a slight inconvenience, but if it cuts down of fraud, so much the better and gets more of my respect Until I get some kind of proof otherwise, Bitmit is THE BEST site right now if you want to trade bitcoins. And this is the problem I have with Sonic. I do not think there ever was any proof Bitmit was a phishing site But yes, Sonic has now allowed access again to Bitmit The censorship is still annoying tho, especially from free speech activist Sonic.net

Bitmit support has accidentally released the escrow when I made it clear I did not receive anything. Support says it was an 'accident' but refuses to refund 4.8 BTC. I am now out of 4.8 BTC and I have received nothing.
EDIT: This post was done by a hacker that took control over my account. I had not changed my password on bitcointalk and I had an easy one. I have no regained control over the account. Ignore this post.

I think that's not true. I am not aware of such an "accidentally" escrow release. Can you please provide more information (orderID, your username) so we can investigate. I did not find any information, especially no outgoing mail or msg which contained the word "accident".

Very nice. It is funny there is no country filter for some of these websites. It would be nice if you could filter for other countries. I am thinking Latin American countries or Asian.

There are country filter for every country on bitmit. But you only see your county + top 10 Bitmit countries in the dropdown. But we have not grouped any other countries yet like we did it with the EU. Am i the only one who gets cloudflares ssl certificate when trying to connect to bitmit?
Since today I also get an unverified certificate. I won't buy anything till this is changed.. These issues were Cloudflare related. Should be fixed already Update- "Statistic of unpaid orders in %" added Here is the overall bm stat of that: It's time to crack it down. We need to investigate the reasons for that quite high number. Do have any proposals or know some reasons why your users are not paying?

Find it out yourself! My approach would be to first search for some strong correlation between attributes I have at hands. Age of the account at time of buying, auction style or sale, ip proximity between buyers and sellers (aka is he buying his own stuff?), prior feedback of both buyer and seller, country, use of messages, frequency of visiting certain pages, distance between buyer and seller, etc. If there were no such thing that I could use to well predict most of the no-pays, I would add additional parameters like timing during the buy process, timing when browsing the site etc. If still there were no obvious correlation to some parameter I would throw machine learning at the collected data. Above parameters -> pay/no-pay. Ok, I would love to actually use ML and plan to do on my FluxCards and if you don't love ML, you might want to do some user survey first. Do it on Bitmit. This way you get the actual user history linked to his answers. Also 25% unpaid are a real downer! I understand that you want to get people to hit "buy" as conveniently as possible but the sellers will run away if they get noise from sales that never materialize. Especially with auction style this is very frustrating to have it running for a week with 20 bids and then … great. My quick fix would be to not allow to end an auction without actually putting money in escrow and apply exactly this to whatever you find by above method to be the main candidates of not paying later. My guess would be that among those without rating, no-pay is 80%. (Please disregard the last paragraph if without money it already is impossible to end an auction. I didn't feel like clicking "place order" just to see if it cancels the auction or not.)

alright how to avoid things like that:
- people with neg rating shouldn't be allowed to buy, instead the seller should receive a request if he wants to trade with said person.
- new users with less than 5 trades should prepay their bitmit account in order to buy something.
