Is there any particular objection to having the actual messages sent to associated email addresses instead of just a "you have a new message" notification with a BitMit link? Less clicks = less time = good. No idea if implementation is trivial or not, but would be appreciated.

its about having proof that the other party really read the message.
very important in escrow.

The obscure, but almost universally-supported "read receipt" function could be used.

Oh but then you can still read the message and send no receipt Wink

"allow escrow" on/off switch could be per shipping option (e.g. I would want to be able to allow escrow for tracked letter shipping, but not for standard uninsured letter)
...
I can't support the complaint that the site is slow, btw. It's sufficiently fast for me. Maybe because I'm in germany, as I assume the site is also.
+1 on the possibility to allow escrow only for tracked shipping. I'd use that.

How many orders have you done molecular? Loading my "Sold items" or "Messages" list can take up to 15 seconds, but then I have maybe 50 open orders and hundreds of messages.

Tosaki: Any ETA on when the site will be back up?

I don't have that kind of volume. Can't check now, but maybe 5 items in "sold" and 4 "active". Maybe 40 messages. So yeah, maybe it's not the TCP/IP level but actually the db backend acting up on many items.

Hope the server will be back within the next 12 hours. I am so sorry for this but I have to wait for actions at the datacenter.

Yes, this slow loading is because of the db access. We must to upgrade to a better server.

Slow loading??? I don't get anything right now. If you have such a high traffic, maybe you want to follow other bitcoin businesses optimism:

Yes, this slow loading is because of the db access. We must to upgrade to a better server.

It would be even more reassuring if you said something like: "Customer funds are safe, the database is still there, I will extend the auction times".

Seeing the apache default page "It works!" is worrying. It can mean several things, some of them bad.

Oh btw: if you want to sell again, I might be interested Wink

Tosaki!??!? Could you please show some transparency!?!? Grrrrr.

Luckily I decided to sell stuff only yesterday so I did not run into putting work into this defunct ex auction platform.

Hope bitmit didn't run with the money in escrow.

i have good believe he really just updates the site to another server.

putting up temporary page saying "sorry, we upgrade" or something would still be nice.

tosaki, if you need help in upgrading the system, like having the actual site onshore on a fast hetzner-server and having the frontend proxy at piradius or something like this, tell me...

For your information and more transparence I want to tell you what the problem has caused:
It is a result of a failed bootloader configuration whereby I  could not boot the server properly and connect to it remotely. Due this I was not able to solve the problem very fast as I am used to do it and had to wait for the slow responses of my webhoster. Of course I had the possibility to quickly setup a new server with the backup files of the db an script but our server came up with special security configuration that took some time to create so I decided to get the old one running in order to guarantee best possible site and funds security.

No data is lost (even if the server burned down I would have backups of all the data) and all funds are safe. Tomorrow the site should be back and we will talk about a redemption for all our users.

I am so sorry and hope you understand :/

PS: Auctions times will be extended
