Hi,

this is the config for my AMD Sapphire r9 290 (Hawaii, firmware updated)  under debian jessie and catalyst 14.1

export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=200
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1

{
"pools" : [
  ....
],
"intensity": "20",
"worksize": "256",
"vectors" : "1",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"gpu-fan" : "100",
"thread-concurrency": "33280",
"gpu-engine": "1000",
"gpu-memclock": "1500",
"gpu-powertune" : "20",
"temp-cutoff" : "120",
"temp-overheat" : "80",
"temp-target" : "70",
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "0",
"scan-time" : "60"
}

The result is 391 kh/s with ZERO HW

Try increase temp-target to 95 and temp-overheat to 100 may get 440kh/s.  Hynix should be 500kh/s.  But the GPU temp should stabilize at room temp + 50 degree Celsius.

A word of warning. I don't know if it's really related, but after mining vertcoin for a few days, 2 of my rigs exhibited a problem. Some of the cards showed 511 C temp and 0 RPM, and then the computer froze. This then happened all the time even after many reboots, after I changed the risers around and changed riser power, it started working again.
2 of my 7950 with this problem, after this, did not hash over 580 KH/s on normal cgminer anymore (previously 620 KH/s steady). One of my 280X now seems to have stability issues and for some reason lower temperature, and auto-fan speed for this card is consistently lower than on all my other cards.

Gigabyte R9 270 cgminer aleks (or vertminer) settings

 Running stable at 200kh/s, almost no HW errors

[img]http[Suspicious link removed] --scrypt -v 1 -w 256,512 -I 13,17 -g 1 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-powertune -20,-20 --temp-target 65,55 --temp-overheat 75,65 --temp-cutoff 80 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500 --gpu-engine 1040,1000 --thread-concurrency 8192,12992 --device 1 --remove-disabled --api-listen
pause

The settings for the R9 270 are the second ones, and the first ones if there's not a second setting.

If it works for you please consider throwing some VTC: VsQPq56R2G7MLgQdHyV7N4iEfth8rvz8Kb

is this the 270 or the 270X ?

Hi, there was no shortage of these settings when using single. I wear two cards together in the GPU1 at hw error occurs. Does anyone have any idea?

My Cards: 2 * Asus DCIIT

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
vertminer.exe --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://stratum.ecurie.io:3333 -u user -p pass -w 256 -I 13 -g 2 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-fan 85,85 --gpu-engine 1030,1030 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500 --thread-concurrency 8192,8192 --gpu-powertune -20,-20 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1

When I had that error (GPU disabling), it was a thread-concurrency that was too high.

Anyone notice that the temp-target and gpu-fan settings don't seem to work in vertminer? I have a temp-target set way above my current temps and a gpu-fan setting of "0-50" same as what i ran with cgminer, and vertminer doesn't seem to care. My target is 76C, my cards are running at 71C but the fans are going at 61% instead of topping out at 50%. Is this a bug or a feature yet to be implemented?

Also, in a future version, can we have the in-program gpu setting changes for things like gpu engine, memory, fan, automation, etc.
TC 8192. Thanks.

nope, sorry. tons of HW errors.

Just got 2 R9 290 Sapphire Tri-x with Hynix memory..does anyone have some decent settings for this card with hynix memory Huh? I have same Elpidia cards and elpidia settings doesn't seem to work with them well. on -12mv, 1000/1500 on hynix I got freeze after few minutes...and horizontal lines from the beginning.

I have the same issue with my 290 Tri-X, 1000/1500 with intensity higher than 13 just makes the display driver crash after 2 minutes.

Context :
Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X
8GB RAM
860W PSU
Windows 7 64-bit
Catalyst 13.12
SDK 2.9
vertminer 0.5.3
GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200

Now two settings that work for me and run stable 24/7 with 0 HW errors :

285 kh/s
"intensity": "13",
"worksize": "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency": "8192",
"gpu-engine": "1000",
"gpu-memclock": "1250",
"gpu-powertune" : "20",
"gpu-threads" : "2"

397 kh/s
"intensity": "17",
"worksize": "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency": "24550",
"gpu-engine": "900",
"gpu-memclock": "1350",
"gpu-powertune" : "20",
"gpu-threads" : "1"

For the second one, -I 18 crashes instantly.
Hope it helps.

Mine just had this problem. All of a sudden one of the fans went crazy. I checked and its 511 C. Computer was frozen.

Restarted it and everything seems fine. But I wonder if this vertminer is killing our GPUs

Hi guys, I've been messing with stability issues as well with my reference asus 290 non x's. Anything over I17 would cause freezes or crashes or bluescreens after anywhere from a few minutes to a day.

I have been searching for a stable config that I can run and forget about for an extended period of time, and think I have produced one. I've been running for over 24 hours now with no problems, engine throttling, or light pulsing.

The hashes sit at 417, but I'm willing to let that slide due to lower temps and happy cards. Here is what I run.

"intensity" : "17",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"kernel" : "scrypt",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "24550",
"shaders" : "0,0",
"gpu-engine" : "947",
"gpu-fan" : "80",
"gpu-memclock" : "1250",
"gpu-memdiff" : "0",
"gpu-powertune" : "20",
"gpu-vddc" : "0.000",
"temp-cutoff" : "99",
"temp-overheat" : "95",
"temp-target" : "90",
"api-mcast-port" : "4028",
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"gpu-dyninterval" : "7",
"gpu-platform" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"hotplug" : "5",
"log" : "5",
"no-pool-disable" : true,
"no-submit-stale" : true,
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "60",
"scrypt" : true,
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"
}

I have taken out the gpu-dyninterval setting with no problems as well. My setup is 8Gb ram, 3 cards on one rig 2 on another. Have not tested / 4 cards on one rig as of yet, and won't be able to until 2 more come in the mail next week. I'm also running windows 7 64 bit.

Other clock pairs I want to test include 1000/1500, 1050/1450 and 1075/1470 as I have excellent results from those using regular cgminer. I also sometimes run TC 25000.

I realize there are faster speeds these cards can get @i20 and 1075/1450 got me around 470+...but I'm looking for stability as well as manageable temps and reasonable power usage so if you're looking for speed then use a different config.

I am clueless......

I have 2 x Sapphire Tri-X 290x cards...

I am running the perfectly fine at 988 Khz each on any "normal" scrypt alt coin. Using I 20, 24600 thread conc, 1000 gpu engine. 1500 memory. This gives me NO HW at all.

Now I wanted to transition over to Vect coins... this has ended up in a total fail...

The miner I have currently has 4 gb ram.

Using anything higher then 8192 tc makes the cards go disabled. Using any intensity higher then 13 makes the HW run mad. Going i13 and tc 8192 gives me a hash rate of about 280khz per card which is way less it should be. Using intensity 19-20 gives me around 470khz but then the hardware errors are INSANE. I have tried to adjust the config file so many times and it all ends up with the same results.

I am using vectminer 0.5.3

I am in dire need of your help here!

Thanks in advance!

Exactly the same here, TC 8192 gets me tons of HW errors at anything over I 13, can not run larger TC because of -4 error.
The solution is 8GB ram, but unfortunately my old Asus MBs only accept 2 ram modules and both slots are taken, memory is expensive, so I let these rigs run Doge.
Maybe Linux could help since ram requirements are different but I'm not in the mood to try it...

I figured it was time for me to post since I can't figure it out after trying for quite some time.
I have two Diamond 7970s and I'm using the following .bat:

setx GPU_MAX_MEMORY_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
--gpu-engine 1010 --gpu-memclock 1440 -I 12 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 4096 -g 2 -w 512

It's giving me 225Kh/s. If I bump -i to 13 I get tons of HW errors. I've tried setting TC to 8192, 8191, or 8193 as others have said and it gives the this error:

Maximum buffer memory device 0 supports says 536870912
Your scrypt settings come to 1073610752
Error -61: clCreateBuffer (padbuffer8), decrease TC or increase LG

I've also tried setting -g to 1 or 3 and neither is better.
Tried playing with -w and nothing better

Anyone have any ideas?

Your 225 KH/s sounds nominal for a 7970, but try this: -I 13 --lookup-gap 2 -g 2 -w 188 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 6112

Also try -w 256 to see if you can do that without the OpenCL compiler failing, or showing hw errs.

Try to get a total of 8Gb ram. It's being overwritten too many times at the high concurrencies b/c you don't have enough of it. The fact that your program will run for a little bit instead of insta-crash seems to indicate ram being overwritten.

Hi, just tried vertcoin for the first time and managed to get it optimized fairly quickly thanks to this thread. A couple of interesting points regarding my msi 2gb 7850 oc edition. As with most 7850 cards running normal scrypt coins 8192 is the best and perhaps the only tc that didn't give me hardware errors with intensity above 12. As for my xfx dd black edition 7950 my scrypt settings also remained the same except I lowered tc to 19712 and it seems to be optimal. Also, when using i=20 with the 7950 my hashrate dropped so i=19 seems to be optimal. With my 7950 I get about 310kh/s and the 7850 175 kh/s and no hardware errors at all. Here is my batch file with settings (7950,7850):

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.ecurie.io:3333 -u secret -p x --thread-concurrency 19712,8192 --intensity 19,17 --gpu-engine 1100,1000 --gpu-memclock 1500,1250 --gpu-powertune 20,0

Also worth noting that I also use the exact same settings for my 7850 with normal scrypt mining.

I spent a couple hours last night trying to get my ASUS R9 270X HW error free and I could not find a TC setting that worked for it. Considering the lack of temperature and fan controls since i ported it into BAMT, I decided to move that rig back to scrypt for now. I don't know if the issue is with the R9 series cards, that card itself or the fact that I ported it to BAMT, but there's obviously issues and I hope that maybe a vertminer specific bamt version will be made someday.

Hmmm more ram... well that can be solved... I have completely new motherboard and I think I have like 128 GB ram in 16 GB modules lying somewhere too Smiley
