hi can someone please help, for some reason nothing happens when i hit enter in the modded cgminer after i input anything to the console?? also if use a .bat startup file, it will load my other cgminer scrypt console (changed console background colour) although its a diff folder and no linked files are in either, but will crash anyways?? please this is driving me crazy. BTW am using low settings recommended on here...got sap r290 * 6...thanks in advance

Sounds like you didn't change the path to the new vertcoin cgminer

The only thing I've needed to change for Vertcoin is thread concurrency. These seem to be the optimal ones for the cards I've tried so far:
R9 290: 24550
7950: 19712
5850: 5120

How can I start this modified cgminer? I've only used guiminer until now.
Can I put a bat.file of the normal cgminer in the folder and edit it?

Just keep in mind when changing Threadconcurrency think about changing Intensity as well. running high intensity on low concurrency can be detrimental

can't set --thread-concurrency to more then 4096 or i get the following error (280x):
Error -61: clCreateBuffer (padbuffer8), decrease TC or in crease LG

Please help

EDIT:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
solved the problem

How much system RAM do you have? I know it can be difficult to get cgminer to launch if system ram is low, as it uses it during startup (but once it's running, hardly uses any).

What lookup gap are you using?

My sapphire 7950 on a computer with 4gb ddr2 cannot go past -i 13 without getting hardware errors, I've tried thread-concurrencies for hours. Currently it's only doing 160kh/s

My XFX 7950 is fine and pulling about 200kh/s   --thread-concurrency 16384 -i 19

I've yet to get a 5870 to run at any -i 11 without errors  Undecided

Thanks. I was just about to post about that. I was having very high rejects (8-15% or so) and dropping my intensity from 20 to 19 helped a lot. Would dropping it even lower help on a dedicated mining rig?

Anyone have settings for r9 270? Or know what my hash rate is supposed to be?

My normal hash rate with other scrypt coins is 460 Kh/s.

mine is: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pickaxe.pool.pm:3305 -u metraque.R9270 -p x -v 1 -w 256,512 -I 12,18 -g 1 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-powertune -20,-20 --temp-target 65,55 --temp-overheat 75,65 --temp-cutoff 80 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500 --gpu-engine 1020,1050 --thread-concurrency 8191,12000 --device 1 --remove-disabled
pause
217kh/s, but I get 14 HW errors and running for 10 min.

2 x 290x settings.

A few notes - this miner seems to be pretty finicky, if you are getting HW errors at 20 intensity just restart the box. Had issues with that when first starting out, haven't seen any HW errors since.

I found that decreasing gpu-engine about 2% under Scrypt levels boosted hash rates: 415Kh/sec -> 424Kh/sec and 460Kh/sec -> 474Kh/sec

Code:

2 x 290x settings. Wow this miner is really picky about TC, this was the only one that didn't result in HW at 20 intensity. Seeing 415Kh/sec and 460Kh/sec with these, might play around with the GPU Engine later on...

Code:
"intensity" : "20,20",
"vectors" : "1,1",

Are you running 4gb RAM? I can't seem to it mining correctly with only 4gb at any thread concurrency. Too high and I get error enqueueing kernel error and too low gives HW errors.

I never used cgminer I dont understand how to add or change these settings what do I do exactly?
I downloaded the modified cgminer and signed up with a pool but it just says in the pool that I have no hashrate

So is this miner just not compatible with only 4gb of RAM? Has anyone been able to get it running without errors at over 13 intensity? I have been trying every setting and TC for the last 3 days and have yet to get it stable above 13 intensity. Right now I'm at 250kh/s on an r9 290 and 13 intensity.
