sharing my settings on open air rig,

vertminer:
Code:
 --scrypt-vert  -v 1 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1032,1008,1000,1008 --gpu-powertune -20,-20,-20,-20 --temp-target 72,68,70,70 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 45-90 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-cutoff 90
--expiry 30 --scan-time 5 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale

Lower target temp on GPU 1 is to  keep its fan from ramping down too low and vrm's around 85, i know there's better way to do that but i got lazy and this how I left it

cgminer:
Code:
--gpu-platform 0 --gpu-engine 1081,1053,1053,1053 --gpu-memclock 1500 -I 13 --thread-concurrency 8193,8193,8193,8193 -g 2 -w 256 --gpu-powertune -20,-20,-20,-20 --temp-target 70 --gpu-fan 92,63,88,80 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-cutoff 90 --expiry 60 --scan-time 30 --queue 1 --no-submit-stale --lookup-gap 2

http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab93/mas2ery/fangclosed7minutes-1.jpg
http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab93/mas2ery/3333-1.jpg
notice temps are consistant with location....

GPU 0 = Sapphire 280X Vapor-X 015.041 Hynix @ 1.162v , worked great out of box but  flashed with stilts Vaporx_2104XTLAFR-V46_AGR.zip anyway with no noticable results

GPU 1,2,3  Sapphire 280X Vapor-X 015.042 Elpida @ 1.1v flashed with Sapphire_E21004_V44_K2_NT_AGR.bin

Cant seem to get GPU 2 to get up to 1 and 3, its on MSI FM2-A85XA-G43 AMD A85 FM2, GPU 2 is on x16, GPU 1 is in other x16 which gpuz shows as x16@x4, 3 and 0 are in x1
Regardless, Im very happy with the setup

I'm on ubuntu so no bin files here. Not sure what the TC is on default but taking it out defiantly does not make a difference.

I figured out my issue with the 290x, it was missing the --nscrypt flag.

Still I can get neither to stop outputting massive hardware errors.

Yeah I'm on ubuntu. It compiles the CL and spits out a bin file in the current directory. Looking at that was how I got my starting point.

No options other than output and -I 13, and still hardware errors?

Yea seems 13 was the highest I could go on intensity without HW errors. I was able to add two threads which seemed to increase the hash by almost double. Even so I feel as if my results are in the 280x range...

290x @ 370 Kh/s
Code:
./vertminer --nscrypt -o stratum+tcp://east1.us.stratum.dedicatedpool.com:3367 -u 0ut1awed.1 -p x -d 0 -v 1 -w 512 -I 13 -g 2 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 24000 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-powertune 20

290 @ 370Kh/s
Code:
./vertminer --nscrypt -o stratum+tcp://east1.us.stratum.dedicatedpool.com:3367 -u 0ut1awed.1 -p x -d 1 -v 1 -w 256 -I 13 -g 2 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 24500 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-powertune 20

Hi to all Vertminers!

I have read this megathread from start and end, also some middle parts, but so far no luck  to configure my 2 Gigabyte AMD/ATI Radeon R9 270X 4GB GDDR5 PCIE GV-R927XOC-4GD cards...

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b2687/gigabyte-r9-270x-windforce-3x-oc-4-gb.html

If someone had luck with those cards and are willing to share knowledge, I will send some VTC for help  Smiley

ATM my rig runs in 2 gpu-thread settings:
rawintensity - 8192
shaders - 1280
t c - 8192
engine clock - 990 and mem clock - 1500
gpu-powertune - 20

This gives me total 310 - 370 WU, 350 - 380 Kh/s, 0 HW, less then 1% R
tepperature @ 50% vents 50 - 73 'C (room 24'C)

So it's working pretty stable and no heat and noise problems, but I wanna bit more from those cards, thats sure!
Can you help please!?

i'm having a little trouble getting my Sapphire R9 tri-x 280x Toxic over the 300kh/s mark.

i'm running bamt 1.3 modded with vertminer 0.5.4pre2

.conf looks like this:

Quote
"auto-fan" : "true",
"intensity" : "13,20",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256,512",
"kernel" : "scrypt",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "8191,27000",
"shaders" : "0",
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"gpu-dyninterval" : "7",
"gpu-platform" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "2,1",
"gpu-engine" : "1100,1000",
"gpu-memclock" : "1500,1500",
"gpu-powertune" : "-20,20",
"log" : "5",
"no-pool-disable" : true,
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "60",
"scrypt" : true,
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"

the second parameters are for the sapphire R9 290x Tri-X (non-OC) which runs at 490kh/s no problem.

i've tried changing the TC/ENG?MEM up and down, trying different stuff i've read on here, but it really doesn't even make any difference.

Huh. I don't know what's causing your issues, but I know how I would solve them. Get yourself on '--xintensity 4' to go with that '-g 2'. You need the nfactor version of sgminer for that. Then you should have a decent hashrate, almost as much as the full potential of the card, plus low rejects. On a 290, xintensity 4 is in between -I 13 and -I 14. It should work. Lower the TC though.

Thanks for the help but like I mentioned a few times already I'm on linux. So no sgminer for me.

Don't know what you're talking about. You just compile it from source.

Is someone tried vertminer 0.5.4pre2 with comes with cryptoslax?
I'm trying to set Gigabyte R9 270 on it. Which settings could be good, or better use older 0.5.2 ?
These settings giving 215 Khs and 185 WU. I think WU could be much better on this cards.

I'm using sgminer with nfactor support.
http://www.sgminerwindows.com/sgminer-nfactor.php
Sapphire Tri-X R9-290 (not X). There is another card in my system (HD6450) just to render my desktop, disabled in sgminer by using -d.

Config (use your own settings for pools):
---
{
"pools" : [
    {
        "url" : <url>,
        "user" : <user>,
        "pass" : <pass>
    }
],

"nfactor" : "11",

"expiry" : "10",
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "0",
"scan-time" : "1",
"api-listen" : true,
"api-allow" : "W:127.0.0.1",

"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"
}
---

sgminer launch (the first figures in TC, gpu-engine, and so on, are for the disabled HD6450):
---
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
sgminer.exe -X 1,256 --gpu-engine 650,947-1010 --gpu-memclock 600,1475 --thread-concurrency 640,20479 --gpu-powertune 0,40 -d 1 --lookup-gap 2 --worksize 512 -g 1,1 --gpu-vddc 0,1.175 --auto-gpu --auto-fan --gpu-fan 35-80,40-60 --temp-target 75,85 --temp-overheat 80,90 --temp-cutoff 85,95 --failover-only -k zuikkis
---

Stable 455 kH/s.

That's nicely done, DMaster. I'm curious: how much does it drop if you do -g 2, -I 13 or 14 and --xintensity 4 with --thread-concurrency 10241? Oh, and one more: -k psw. Maybe reoptimize your engine clock. From what I'm seeing, hashrate will drop a little but the WU ratio notches up, and a lot fewer stale shares in the long run (especially with p2pool) may make up the difference. Especially with a little kick from the psw kernel, which in my experience does its stuff for cards running at low intensity.

Hi all, I was, like some unlucky others here on this forum, struggling to get my R9 280X running above 300 Kh/s. I've tried the usual recommended I 13 and TC 8192 but no matter what else I tinkered with, it simply did not go above 300 Kh/s. First I thought it was coz I had 3 different GPUS. Then maybe coz I had only 2Gb RAM. I upped that to a total of 6Gb Ram and that made a little difference. But the real differences were in overclocking my R9 and setting a temp target. The latter coz I noticed each time the card reached 300 it suddenly dropped to like 250-260 Kh/s along with the temp dropping from 80 degrees to 76 degrees, as if there was a temp limit that maxed my hash rate too.

The overclock tip I got from this cgminer manual, which gives exellent tweaking pointers! https://raw.github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/v3.7.2/SCRYPT-README
A quote:
"Then start overclocking the eyeballs off your memory, as 7970s [edit: R9 280x is a rebranded 7970]  are exquisitely sensitive to memory speed and amazingly overclockable but please make sure it
keeps adequately cooled"

Here are the details:

Stable at 780 Kh/s on average  Grin
Club 3D 7850 172 Kh/s
Club 3D 7950 310 Kh/s
MSI R9 280X 290-320 Kh/s

export DISPLAY=:0
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=200
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
cd /home/c/vertminer-gpu
./vertminer --nscrypt -I 17,20,13 --thread-concurrency 8192,21712,8192 -o stratum+tcp://vtc.poolz.net:3333 -u xxxxx -p x --gpu-engine 1000,1070,1200 --gpu-memclock 1250,1500,1800 --shaders 1024,1792,2048 -w 256,256,256 --temp-target 66,84,83

So far, I've not succeeded in getting it at like 350 Kh/s, perhaps someday. Also, I'm not sure if overclocking is good for the R9 in the long run. But hey, I'm happy now, and hopefully this post is helpful to others!

Hello Everyone!

Can someone please help me with the settings for a DUAL-X Sapphire 7970? I get 725 stable on Scrypt. On VTC I have not been able to go over 290. I suppose I should be able ot get at least 350kh/s right?

BTW, I also have a 6970 MSI Afterburner which gets a nice 500kh/s on Scrypt but only 30~40 on VTC is that because of the 2GB memory instead of 3GB?

One last question, have the gridseed devices been able to hash NScrypt yet? It seems like they have proliferated the regular Scrypt pushing the profitability to almost zero when electricity is considered so I am thinking about switching to NSCrypt. Hopefully there will be more coins out there soon.

Thanks!

Anyone mining with a HIS 280X and getting decent rates?

I have an ASUS and HIS 280X in the same machine. The ASUS has default clocks of 1070/1600 while the HIS is default 1050/1500.

If I run vertminer with the default clocks both cards get around 240 kh/s.

If I run vertminer with clock 1000/1500 then the ASUS jumps to 360 kh/s but the HIS card does not change, still stuck at 240 kh/s.  Weird, something to do with it using 1500 as its default mem clock? I don't get it.

I used to think that 4GB of RAM is just not enough for vertminer (for some really weird reason, since when it's running it only uses a couple of hundred MB at most), and was putting 8GB in all of my rigs, but then there's one rig that I just can't put more ram into (some old computer) running Ubuntu... I tried mining scrypt-n with it yesterday, it has 4GB and 2*7970 cards, and apparently vertminer works just fine with TC 8192, g2 and -I 13, hashing at full speed with no HW errors. Yet none of my Windows machines work with 4GB, vertminer either doesn't start at all, or starts hashing at really low speeds, and only adding more memory makes them happy.

So the question is how come 4GB is enough for Linux, but not enough for Windows? Is there any way to mine at full speed on windows machines with 4GB of RAM?

NB:
This conf will work with 1280 shaders cards!
See tech data of your card here:
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b2687/gigabyte-r9-270x-windforce-3x-oc-4-gb.html
(scroll down and you find list of cards from different manufacturers)

Set temperatures and clocks according to your needs!!

Thanks  Smiley

Try 1250Mhz at memory instead of 1400Mhz, gives the same or better results beacuse at 1250Mhz timings are lower, as we know scrypt and his deriatives likes low timings a lot.
And if you are able try to undervolt via my guiide, and remeasure the power consumption.
