Any chance of new designs? If not, any competitors?
Since Bitcoin is international I would hope for versions that come from other countries outside USA.
I would pay more to get asian coins, especially Japanese.
However, this is very unlikely but I will pay extremely high price for North Korean coins if proof can be given that they originate from North Korea (big DPRK collector).

Can I buy "broken" coins? Not the empty ones, the broken ones that won't ever be used or will be thrown away.

Hi Casascius I PM'd you and i appreciate you must be busy so whenever you get a chance to get back to me is great. To be honest a lot of the queries i had regarding the coins have been answered in this thread. They seem like a great way to store btc and collectible to boot. Look forward to doing business with you.

Just to answer the most current frequently asked questions:
Silver coins: I am closest in progress to having a 5 BTC silver coin. I am thinking it will be a fully gold plated silver coin, so I can offer a 1 BTC silver coin in the same size. This is just because BTC value has risen so quickly in the past few months, it now makes sense. Both of these I intend to be 30mm 1/2 ounce coins. It's possible I may only offer them in bulk quantities of 20 or more on a wholesale basis, as shipping individual orders represents an opportunity cost for me. I'm guessing I'll have another update in a couple of weeks.
Broken coins, as well as series-1 1BTC coins, are no longer available. Broken coins were a way for me to move all of the "mistake" coins made while discovering the best way to make the coins, but now with experience, far fewer mistakes are made, and there's just not enough mistake coins to satisfy the need.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable. I never believe them. If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins. I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion. Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice. Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

Silver coins which are fully gold-plated..? That seems strange. Is that a normal thing in collector coins? A 1 BTC silver coin makes sense, and you might even consider a 10 BTC half troy ounce gold coin. Looking forward to the new series in any case! And for people who can't wait: I still have a few of the old silver coins for sale! https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/17073-casascius-silver-10-btc-coins-with-gold-b

Agree, the gold B on a silver 1 oz was the best design by far to date, the 1 BTC coins are also great imo.

I measured the density of one of these today (a pure silver one without the gold plating). Came out to be 10.4 g/cm³ (measurement error +/- 0.5%). It's a bit less than a pure silver coin (10.49 g/cm³) because of the hologram and paper/empty space behind it.

I am confused as to series 1/2/3 etc when referring to the 1 BTC coins. I really like the design in the original post, is that how the 1 BTC's look today? But, if they are changing to silver then maybe I can wait too.

There was a guy trying to sell gold plated silver coins in another thread and not having much luck. I'm no collector but I don't really see the point myself. I do really like the look of the gold BTC on the silver coin though and hope to own one at some point.

Series 1 coins: the public address is printed on the hologram. Series 2 coins: the public address behind a window in the hologram. I don't know what series 3 is. I'm not sure it even exists.

Are the ones in the original post series 1 or 2? I'd like to see an example of what I'm buying if I were to buy some today.

The ones in the original post are series 1. They have the address printed on the hologram. Edit: Fixed some misinformation.

I have used series 1 to refer to the hologram labels with the inkjet overprint, and series 2 to refer to the windowed holograms.
The 2013 coins still use the same windowed holograms, the only thing that has fundamentally changed is the shape of the private key insert underneath the hologram. Earlier coins were a circle. The 2013 coins are a circle with a protruding lobe on the top. The lobe helps keep the orientation of the letters in the window more consistent, which also pegs the front-to-back alignment of the coins a bit better. I don't know that I'd call it a brand new series, I just call it the 2013 coins, the holograms are exactly the same.
Everything I ship now uses the new holograms.
All of the series 1 holograms with the inkjet overprint have the spelling error in the small print. If they do not have a window in the middle or the stripe across the middle, then they have the error.

Hey, I saw a video of you applying holograms to the coins by hand. Do you still do that by hand? It seems like a lot of work, though I guess it is highly paid work at current BTC values.

I have a coin with the sticker pealed off (still some glue sticking to it). I could send it to you for shipping cost of BTC 0.02 (non-tracked, non-insured normal international letter, no guarantee). It's a 2011 coin and the brass has darkened considerably (however I think it can be made to look nice again using the right cleaner, like brasso or maybe something more "common", not sure).
