I have fired up a AWS server for testing.

Do you need help with anything? I can push a miner in your direction if you need to test some incoming hashes

Code:

ubuntu@ip-172-31-27-220:~$ cat /etc/os-release

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin

Subscribe if you haven't already - we should try to move some of this conversation over there, it's way quieter than it should be.

Also I see DarkcoinTalk is a bit of a ghost town. I say we move any non dev-related talk over there. This thread is almost unreadable.

+1

Staying here has the advantage of being easily accessible to others. Moving might be too soon until there are many more supporters.

Perhaps we should split out specific topics, onto new bitcointalk threads, that are on the bounty list and other to do lists and then link from here for updates?

Updated to the new wallet and network! Now with Cryptsy price displayed Smiley
Address: drk.p2phash.com

P2Pool benefits:

* No registration required
* Distributed hashrate
* Immediate payouts after a block is found
* Higher payouts with transaction fees paid to miners
* No account hack possible

Fee: only 0.5%
Start mining within seconds! Just point your miner to p2phash.com:7903 and use the Darkcoin address from your wallet for username, the password doesn't matter.

Ok, so I was a bit bored and instead of idling on reddit and looking up coinmarketcap every 2 minutes, I tried something. It's just a rough copy where I copied most of the /r/DRKcoin and just used a different stylesheet which was already a almost complete layout. I think the header could be better, but aside from that, I think it's much more user friendly than the current scheme especially since a new, brighter website is about to launch

What do you think?

Since the other darkcoin facebook page is not active since 23/2 i decided to make one.

https://www.facebook.com/darkcoincommunity

If you think i shouldnt make a new one just tell me and i will delete it. I am updating every few days and i will update more since i finish my exams in a few days. Btw here is the google+ account for darkcoin:

https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/113501121429723618585/113501121429723618585/posts

Btw we can promote Darkcoin with facebook. I will put 10-20 dollars for promoting it with facebook myself and if you feel like its good to promote it more then send a few Darkcoins here and i will put everything for promoting with facebook:

XcMF71qbWWf3AHkxer7dFJSBTb1KryJJkR

I am off studing again. If i see people entering the facebook community i will start posting things...

Nice...

I got a bit bored myself too and changed the 2 files (tray icon / splashscreen):

The result was this (somewhat crappy quality due to the animated gif): http://oi61.tinypic.com/6gltl2.jpg

If you want to compile it in your own client, the files are in /src/qt/res/images * and /src/qt/res/icons **

This same error is happening on each system that I cloned darkcoin into last night. The ones from the night before are fine.

And yes, I realize the 34140 is the block that added DGW

I used this as the .sh file, and all of the installs showed as already installed:

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install git
apt-get install build-essential
apt-get install libssl-dev
apt-get install libboost-all-dev
apt-get install  libdb5.1-dev libdb5.1++-dev
cd /usr/local/src/
ls
git clone https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin.git
cd darkcoin/
ks
history
cd src/
ls
vi makefile.unix
make -f makefile.unix

It's crazy that this isn't working

I've been tweeting back and forth with @cryptsy about the bot which is driving down the price slowly. Now big Vern has deleted all of his tweets, no idea what he's doing. I took a screenshot of them though so well see. Basically he was saying sellers are smart enough to figure out where the real price is... Which is not a very good response If you ask me. There's no reason to let sellers who don't know get caught into selling lower.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

I beg to differ here. Its a free market and in a such a market i am allowed to put any order and any order size into the market that i want.

And it should stay that way! If sellers are too dumb to realize ask for a reasonable price its there fault not cryptsy's.

Also if you dont like what you see you could try to drive the price into the opposite direction. It should cost not more than a little dust.

This same error is happening on each system that I cloned darkcoin into last night. The ones from the night before are fine.

And yes, I realize the 34140 is the block that added DGW

I used this as the .sh file, and all of the installs showed as already installed:

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install git
apt-get install build-essential
apt-get install libssl-dev
apt-get install libboost-all-dev
apt-get install  libdb5.1-dev libdb5.1++-dev
cd /usr/local/src/
ls
git clone https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin.git
cd darkcoin/
ks
history
cd src/
ls
vi makefile.unix
make -f makefile.unix

It's crazy that this isn't working

If you pm me with ip and account, I will check.

The logo kind of disappears in the header, could the header be silver perhaps?

So I'd like to let everyone know that I've been mining on lotterymining.com for the last week and more. The operator is CHAOSiTEC, who regularly posts on this forum.

I'd also like to mention that for the entire last week I've been in a different part of the country . . about 1000 miles away from my computers. I use teamviewer to monitor my five computers. Throughout that entire time, there was only one momentary stratum interruption that I saw. I haven't had to touch the computers at all.

I know that we're having some hash distribution problems right now, and want everyone to know that this pool is fantastic and reliable . . more so than many other pools I've been at.

If you'd like to take part and distribute your hashes . . then consider going there.

I looked at a bunch of different settings and picked 7%, the curve looks pretty nice and it still creates a good long term incentive for investment and mining. Goes into effect on block 210240, then each year after that.

Back to my work on DarkSend now  Smiley (I have many exciting things to show everyone next week!)

yeah, this a very good compromise between having the 0-%- and 20-%-reduction - the yearly 7-%-reduction!

i am looking forward to your good and exciting DarkSend-implementation to the coin!

Edit: please change at the first page of this thread:

"Est. ~22M Max Coins"

to

Est. 22 Million Max Coins in ~2054

year of max is not clear to me - please fill in the correct one - maybe the "~"-sign before the year and not before the coin-max

Here's what the distribution looks like over time in case you missed it:

How to check linux os is 32 bit or 64 bit

1) uname -m

> uname -m
x86_64 --> 64bit

>  uname -m
i686  --> 32bit

2)  getconf LONG_BIT
>  getconf LONG_BIT
32

>  getconf LONG_BIT
64

3) file /bin/ls or file /usr/bin/ls  ( sometimes incorrect)
> file /usr/bin/ls
/usr/bin/ls: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=0xaec843f5bd188906193e4c76869b0657d27f8c0d, stripped

> file /bin/ls
/bin/ls: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.4, stripped

Use 64bit linux os, short term solution.

I keep reading people saying that the people who mined in the first 24 hours of this coin mined 2 million coins, so I just couldn't believe that could be true.  The highest block reward was 500 coins, I remember the difficulty going up pretty quickly, but even if it didn't, and the block reward stayed at 500 coins, the most that could have been mined is 288,000 coins.

I just want to set the record straight.  People really exaggerate - a lot!

I was wrong.
