Masternodes dont use the GUI wallet clients you're used to, you run the CLI darkcoind daemon on the masternode server. But yes that darkcoind needs to be the latest RC (10.xx.xx) version. Linux is the only sane option if you're running a masternode... If you're thinking of doing this on your home Windows box, you need to rethink that plan. I don't know why people keep propagating the idea that Linux is inherently secure. If you set up any kind of server without any knowledge of what you're actually doing, setting it up on Linux won't help you shit. If you don't know about security stuff setting up a server is generally just a bad move and should be thought over. Please stop spreading that irresponsible "Use Linux and you're perfectly safe" myth. The penguin is not going to magically secure you if you don't know how to make use of its tools. edit: Rant over. No offense! I never said, "Use Linux and you're perfectly safe" - but following, for example, the guide on darkcointalk you'd struggle to go wrong even if you knew nothing but how to cut and paste commands. Plus if you're renting a VPS it's usually cheaper if it's linux. Personally I find doing almost anything with linux simply easier than trying to do it with Windows, but that's just me... The bit about running a masternode on your home Windows box was actually more about factors like uptime, bandwidth, generally knowing what you're doing when you have 1000 DRK at stake etc. No offense taken BTW, I am thick skinned, and people tell me while facepalming that nothing ever sinks in.

When DRK hits $100 a masternode will be worth 100,000 bucks Who will risk running such a server besides security geniuses?
Could this become an issue. will future masternodes require less DRK?
Who can earn $30,000 a month with an investment of $100,000? intelligent friend of mine...

No, since the latest update, you must also create a masternode private key. at the beginning of step 15, do this before anything else: darkcoind &
darkcoind masternode genkey
darkcoind stop
Save the output you get from this and add it to this part of step 15 cat >> ~/.darkcoin/darkcoin.conf << EOF #------------ masternode=1 masternodeprivkey=[output from genkey] addnode=23.23.186.131 #---------- EOF
The rest of step 15 should remain the same . Note: if you already have set in your darkcoin.conf, you will need to change it to before the genkey command will work. If you are starting from scratch, you should be fine because the masternode= key isn't defined yet and defaults to =0. Hope that helps

Nobody could help me ? Why it still "not yet redeemed" since 3:30AM ?
Not yet redeemed means that the coins you sent haven't yet been spent. If you see the transaction, then the coins have been properly sent as far as the blockchain is concerned.

I don't think it will be in the file system anywhere. However it may still recoverable from the hardrive, using recovery software. As long as you have a strong enough password on it nobody should be able to access the coins even if they did happen to get hold of the file.

HELP! Maybe a noob question, but hopefully, someone can help me out:
DarkCoin-qt gives a different total amount of DRK than the block explorers. When I look at the explorers I can find the "missing" DRK's. They are sent to a different account together with a 15 DRK transaction (I actually did a 15 DRK transaction).
For example: I do a -15 DRK transaction: - 85 + 15 (to the address I wanted to send it to) + 60 (to another address: unknown for me)
Is it possible that DarkCoin-QT does not show all my addresses and that I can still spend the DRK's that er in the "unknown address for me"?

Submit a ticket telling them that there is a difference between the balance of your account, and the balance of your assigned address. MintPal and other exchanges don't use the blockchain to maintain your account, they only use it for deposits & withdrawals, you balance is only maintained in their internal database. Whenever they make a withdrawal, they will happily take amounts from whichever deposit address. It's also why you can't use an account on an exchange (and many web wallet services) to bet on services like satoshi dice. Satoshi dice will send back your wins at the address that placed the bet, but for an exchange, that can be any of the deposit addresses. That's also why if an exchange goes under or messes up its database backups, you can lose a lot, even if they were never hacked, that's what happened to bitomat http://siliconangle.com/blog/2011/08/01/third-largest-bitcoin-exchange-bitomat-lost-their-wallet-over-17000-bitcoins-missing/
