Next big price increase expected to start end of today or tomorrow

I agree but it's probably best to explain why (for the benefit of newcomers) instead of relying on charts!

RC2 completion on May 25th will see masternodes begin receiving passive income of newly mined darkcoin. Anonymous payment system DarkSend gets stronger and more people accumulate multiples of 1000 coins to host masternodes, driving up demand.

How can I calculate block reward ? what is the formula? what variables I need ?

https://darkcointalk.org/forums/mining.3/

can't find this information there Roll Eyes

It's in the original post:

Block reward is controlled by: 2222222/(((Difficulty+2600)/9)^2)

With min. reward = 5

you can also try the IRC bot, details in the OP and here

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-get-mining-info-from-our-irc-bot.211/

thanks mate. I don't know how I missed it Wink

This is becoming quite unrelated to darkcoin, but some of the commentators and their 'facts' are quite amusing really. A pizza was certainly not the first thing to be purchased with Bitcoin, not even publically perhaps. I've forgotten more than I can or care to remember.

Darkcoin is really important in terms of creating a more 'anonymous' digital e-cash (making good progress) - and not for illicit or illegal purposes either - but simply to equal the anonymity provided by cash or paper money, although for our online digital lives.

Watch the video posted on NewLibertyStandard in 2009 " Privacy and Money " - http://newlibertystandard.wikifoundry.com/video/7769399/Privacy+and+Money or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTRFuWtxawM This is certainly not a 'crazy' person. Such progress and yet such a long way to go.

EDIT: Additional - Cash is likely to remain more anonymous than any form of digital currency for a long time imho. There is always the issue of ownership and acquisition with all forms of money. However, the current economic system is undoubtedly broken, corrupt and failing. Decentralized crypto-currency is at least a step forward. In terms of online transactions - speed, privacy, security and anonymity - pick any 3.

I'm just another random guy from the internet really.

~ Maybe there is a light at the end of a dark tunnel - oh yeah - It's a big train coming the other way!  Grin

Coming up on the end of that handle.  Buy now - don't hate yourself this weekend.

Yes indeed.

Bought back in. Looks like about 16-24 hours to completion of correction cycle, at which point...maybe horizontal (cos everyone's in that wants in) or maybe not.

Masternodes start receiving passive income this weekend. History in the making! Anyone sitting on the sidelines is going to be sorry.

Is there anyone who can write mining and masternode guides for the website before then? All the newcomers that hit this forum next week can be directed there.

BUMP
+1.
I'll try and add to chaeplins guide but it is pretty awesome. Not much to change. I will create an ami image on amazon that noobs can use , or anyone for that matter, with a guide on how to implement.

If you do this then my first MN payments are yours

Price predictions?

I'm thinking we will hit $50 by August.

This is the kind of post that kills a coin stone dead.

Take a look back at the "price predictions" history for all dead coins. They were all going to "$XXXX" y the year end.

If you want DRK to go the way of Cinnamon coin et al, just keep making delusional price predictions.

Use your noggin folks. What's going to happen between now and August ? A flood of anonymous coins onto the market and new technologies etc. We've just had the easy bit. Now coming up is the challenging bit which most coins usually don't survive.

So if your going to post price predictions and don't want to be trolled to death for me and others by it, please post your basis and reasoning along with it.

That's a bit dramatic. People just research around that kind of thing. When they do they'll see a unique anonymous payment system, a development schedule, a dev committed to working full time on the project and opportunity to pick up big market share from the non-anon Bitcoin.

I don't think we should worry about that kind of noise.

Monero has still a long way to go - prove itself with development and innovation.
For now it's a Bytecoin's fork with anon dev, how it goes remain to be seen.

That being said, competition is good for all involved.

What's the feel around Crypto-Note protocol?

From first look, it seems to take the anonymity one step too far, as it's basically impossible to debug, and transactions seem to be problematic to track (cf. issues with users at poloniEx that send directly across exchanges).

DarkSend looks anonymous enough to me, especially with more use, yet still is clear enough you can debug and clearly prove money was sent or received in case of doubt.

Monero is clearly hyped up as a result of Darkcoin recent success, people felt they missed the Darkcoin train and are hoping to catch another anonymous train. What they are failing to see is that there is no comparison in many areas:

  • 1. Monero is a clone of Bytecoin without the involvement of the original devs. Darkcoin on the other hand has a committed full time developer that has a proven track record and continuously improves on the project.
  • 2. Because Monero is a clone they didnt have to dedicate a substantial amount of time to come to a first release of the coin, hence the couple of days old, but that is the same reason that further improvement will be delayed.
  • 3. Most importantly Darkcoin is much more than just an anonymous coin, it has a much better financial model than competing coins, and great potential to leverage its network in other areas different from anonymity.
  • 4. Evan is a dev we can trust and he will improve upon Darksend adding ring signatures or other technologies that will improve the quality of the anonymity and we will still have the masternode network which will put Darkcoin far beyond any other coin anonymous or not.
  • 5.Darkcoin has proven to be resilient and to rebound in the face of dumps, it has a loyal community and holders are committed beyond price to seeing the project succeed. This is very rare to find.
  • 6. Darkcoin is based on Bitcoin, so real world adoption and infrastructure is much more likely to happen quicker.

For these reasons there is a ripple effect with people looking for another Darkcoin, I am telling you Darkcoin is a one in a million investment, better just buy at current prices because the right balance of features, benefits and reliability is beyond anything these new projects are offering, it is just a ripple effect of what is happening with Dark.

Whether that's true or not, your ignoring the very nature of the altcoin market.

The altcoin market **in general** is possibly a long term hold. But no single coin is. All these coins are experimental at best and money moves seamlessly from one to the next. Individual coins are like players in a footbal team. The team as a whole may be invested in long term, but each player only has a temporary role before the next one comes along to take his place.

Statistically, it's very unlikely that Darkcoin adds much to its valuation from here ever again. If it did it would be a exception and it won't be because it has the best technology. Being in front "technologically" does jack to a coin's valuation. There are loads of coins which have way overtaken Bitcoin, Peercoin and Litecoin technologically but haven't even put a dent in their price.

Darkcoin does, however, have a chance of establishing a brand-based position as market leader in the anonymous transactions market. (If the community don't screw it with misplaced expectations like Blackcoin did). Also, the price to pay for that position of leadership may be a REDUCTION in valuation against bitcoin, not an increase. This has been the case for some (not all) top 10 Alts which have survived the twighlight phase. However we won't really know that till Christmas. We may get the $50 price but because Bitcoin did it, not us.

One thing's for sure, it's the most "to the moon" delusional investors are also the quickest to dump their load and move onto the next thing. That's because they are the ones investing based on price movements and are basically clueless about the real nature of this market, what's driving it and what expectation to have. (I've made my share of dreamland posts w.r.t. price so I don't exclude myself from this criticism).

The way forward is for the investor community to remain informed and realistic with regards to the fundamentals of this coin. What if Evan discovers a problem that he wants to take time to fix but that causes some kind of blockchain disruption ? Is he to sit there paralysed and biting his fingernails about causing a market crash ?

Also, we need to take a constructive approach with regard to competing alternatives. This isn't tribal warfare, it's a big revolution in finance where everyone has a part to play. Even the losers will have played a huge part in the ultimate outcome.

I'm not saying things can't progress well from here, but aim for survival, not the moon. That in itself will be a massive sucess.
