i just loaded the last mac wallet (0942)
it is not running on my old mac (OSX 10.5.Cool thats bad Sad
it is running on my newer promac (OSX 10.6.Cool thats fine
but it is not syncronising cause it can not find a blocksource...
i probably need some nodes to point it to...
can someone tell me a few adresses of nodes
and tell me where i will have to paste those in
thank you

start wallet, wait simply 10mins.

Then if you still have problem.
Replace peers.dat with http://drk.poolhash.org/files/peers.dat
(first stop wallet, then replace)

(Mac peers.dat is in ~/Library/Application Support/Darkcoin/ )

And check firewall, if outbound port 9999 is blocked.

How to check ?

using browser, open http://portquiz.net:9999/
If you can see following message, it's ok.

I would rather Mintpal add USD etc than BTC-e add DRK  Grin

mintpal is the best exchange to trade your coins, and adding USD is more good.

The problem with adding USD markets is that they will need to ID people. Cryptsy has just started because of that, as all (most?) BTC to USD exchanges do. It's not them, it's the law. Many people don't feel comfortable with this, so maybe it would be better if Mintpal stays away from USD.
https://btc-e.com/ doesn't require it afaik

Because it's run by a bunch of shady as fuck Russians.
Well, maybe you are right. But that's Internet, you know - MtGox could have your ID and deliver nothing and some "shady" guys at btc-e just do their work right at the same time. The easy way to buy BTC (no ID required) and huge volume was the reason for me that almost every BTC I bought I bought there and there was nothing wrong with them so far - I guess that's why every coin is eagerly trying to get there. Even DRK.   Wink

Hello,

Sorry if this kind of info has already been given, or a stupid question, but there is a lot of pages in this thread and i cannot find a formal answer to this on google...
( only found something near : https://darkcointalk.org/threads/darkcoin-wallet-fees.583/ )

I'm using linux version compiled from github.
I found differences between asked to be sent and the real balance, and i found transactions with anormal fees.

Example on this transaction : http://explorer.darkcoin.io/tx/63071f80064d88ed0571fd2dcf29703fb4381bf70a87defea304cb0941f0f0de

1. Is it a tax, or a bug at this time (april 26th) ?
2. Why if we asked to send 0.40119180 DRK, then a tax of 0.59720399 DRK is added ? tax is more than 100% of the original request !
3. Does it come from the Darksend system ?
4. How can i estimate this before to send ?
5. Is there a way to disable this kind of huge tax ?

Thank you very much for reading.

63071f80064d88ed0571fd2dcf29703fb4381bf70a87defea304cb0941f0f0de tx has no fee.

Fee and dust limit config : https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin/blob/master/src/main.h#L49-L89

What is transaction fee : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees

Darkcoin current mintxfee is 0.001

Thank you for complete answer to baddw and chaeplin.
I'm aware of fees with crypto in general, but i thought this proportion was weird.
I can't find any transaction back to another address in the wallet with the same amount.
I'm using listtransactions method.
Does it create a new different address in the wallet or does it use an already existing address randomly ?

Does your wallet show  -0.40119180 and no more?  I don't think you will see all the behind the scenes stuff in your wallet.  Yes, on the blockchain, but not in your wallet because it would get horribly confusing.  You should only see that you sent out  -0.40119180 and nothing more.

Way too much rests on the reliability of exchanges

Yes, many crypto-currency are at of one exchange dominating not just the trading but also the coins.

If you look at the richlist list http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/#!rich you typically see exchanges at the top, and more if you make a guess about cold storage wallets (f.i. DRK #1 rich is probably MintPal's)

At least DRK is spread between MintPal, Cryptsy & PoloniEx, but there is no denying that if MintPal were to go under (either through hacks or plain old negligence and losing backups/private key), DRK would be majorly Goxxed.

The development program

Old schedule...

- RC2 (magic numbers changed to darkcoin, DGW3) : May 14th
- RC2 (masternode payments) : May 25th
- RC3 (10 DRK limit and denominated change) : June 14th
- After this, I'll find someone to vet the code and open source.
- RC4 (Bugs, security issues)
- Testing, then opensource

The masternode issues and the 3rd fork for the 25th actually messed up the schedule. I've been rewriting much of the code masternode technology (released yesterday, if you haven't updated please do!)

There's still some oddities with the election voting system that I'm going to tackle this next week. This I'll start working again on RC3 .

+ ring signatures + IP obfuscation in v2.

just a little bump on that one  Wink

Darkcoin could go even higher bitcoin most important reason is that it is Anonymous

If money laundering, dirty money in the Mafia world was destroyed somewhere not too sure that dark coin Smiley)))))

Just remember, it's mainly about right for everyone to financial privacy.

I don't want anyone seeing/mining my financial transactions and making any kind of assessments or worse, target.

you can do the same for bitcoin in the near future with sidechain or darkwallet

adam back has said side chains is still an idea with about 2 years of development to go. lets say 18months. That's a lifetime in crypto.

darkwallet is a good project for bitcoin, apart from not being able to hide incoming transactions that people send from their regular wallets. But it too is still not working yet and it is browser plugin that many wont touch.

When DRK hits $100 a masternode will be worth 100,000 bucks
Who will risk running such a server besides security geniuses?

Could this become an issue. will future masternodes require less DRK?

Btw. we are the 1st coin which has ever did that and do that recently. That is a VERY GOOD indicator which says that era of LTC is going to finish.

You can have your 1000 DRK in a "local" wallet running on your personal computer and have the server running the master node with an empty wallet. So even if your public server is hacked, they can't steal your 1000 DRK.

will future masternodes require less DRK?

No - dev said that 1000 DRK is a good number, any lower and there will be too many nodes causing too much network load.

I hear you. I'm a seriously jittery bunny now. WTF will I be like if it does explode in price.

So on a related topic.....

If you're new to dark/crypto and you're in the game..... before you send ANY coins to ANYWHERE why don't you simply send a minute test amount first!! See if what happens is what you were expecting. That way you won't be filled with panic when theres a hiccup. "Could someone please tell me where my 0.1 DRK has gone?" as opposed to I JUST SENT ALL MY COINS TO MY OTHER WALLET AND..................................
