implementing ring signatures will take considerable change to the codebase and it hasnt been implemented on a protocol other than cryptonote yet, so its questionable
Not in the least bit questionable, if you've been around long enough to know Evan.  He's amazingly fast coding, and the infrastructure of Darkcoin is incredibly useful.   Evan doesn't care if he has to throw code away and rewrite it a thousand times to get it perfect.
Pity he wasn't such a perfectionist at the launch. Smiley
Doing real work takes priority over pretty. Some people can't function without pretty. They need crutches and hand-holding. Sucks for them.

But can one be successful that way?  Cutting out the majority of the population?  And when DarkSend is improved beyond Cryptonote, and all cryptonote coins are still so far behind, what then?

I'm not saying the work of those coins isn't worthwhile, it is.  Each alt coin has shown things of value.  Things that work and things that don't.  One of the biggest things dogecoin has shown us is that community is #1 bar nothing.  Cutting out those "stupid" people who need to be "babied" with a functional graphic user interface style wallet will kill any coin.  Sorry.

My response was specific tot he comment above it, regarding launch. Make it pretty later. Make it work first.

It's software version 0.N.N.N-BUILDN for a reason... One cannot enter into a project worrying about the biggest idiots first. It's a surefire way to end up with nothing at all.
Of course pretty stuff can wait, but the comment was about the gigantic instamine. That one mistake will haunt the coin forever. If the day comes that Darkcoin becomes the #1 crypto and worth a trillion dollar market cap they'll still be beating us with that stick on the TV news.

7 Day Campaign.

Mens and womens styles available, as well as hoodies for winter and tanks for summer.

http://teespring.com/darkcoin

That does look pretty good but who are you? Is any of the money earned by this campaign goes to the Dev? Towards bounties? or are you just making profit on someone else work?

At the prices I set everything at there is an estimated profit of $42 if all 75 are sold, which is the change between the cost and price.  I created them simply because I saw some interest and wanted one myself. Other than that I am a nobody, but if Evan would like the $42 to put towards development, I would have no issue driving the 15 miles to Phoenix to give it to him.

I cannot change the payment options as I do not control the site, just the campaign.

It's not possible to make the D of the front bigger? Much more bigger!

Here I had a go
I set the price to the lowest profit so shirts are $12 each. I'm only interested in spreading the word.

http://teespring.com/drktee

Someone copy the design, make it high res and sell for darkcoin, I'll buy one
PS- I have no idea what the quality of this sites shirts are, I made this in 30 seconds

I have trouble understand the implementation of cryptonote technology into DRK. What is going to happen to DRK send then ? Is it gonna be useless ? What about the masternods ? Do they have a future with ring signatures stuff ? I'm hedging Darkcoin with Monero just in case, but it seems they are growing quickly. I wonder if its not better to use ZeroCash protocole ; the white paper is out tomorrow : what if Evans is the first to implement it into a coin ? That would give DRK so much more momentum than trying to chasing cryptonote coins.

We've had something like $10m+ turnover in trade volume in the last few weeks. And we haven't even started yet.

Get over it, the distribution of bitcoin hasn't done bitcoin any harm

This is NOT a largest addresses/wallets -list, we are talking about largest owners here. An owner can have many wallets, and a wallet can have many addresses.

One of the most balanced and informative remarks I've seen about that is this one here:

Quote
There can be no doubt that 50% ish of all current minting was taken by just a few people.

The first few miners got the coins. That's a fact. What we disagree is the implication this had for purposes of "fair distribution" - as I was there when the coin hit the exchanges at prices like 0.0000x per DRK.

Most instaminers didn't value their coins, thus allowing massive re-distribution at dirt-cheap prices. People don't generally value things they get in abundance.

The main fallacy of the "oh drk scam" etc is that it implies that the distribution of the first 48hrs remained fixed for eternity, when coins were already changing hands hours after the first miners arrived.

Quote
The fact the dev offered to do the airdrop, and i believe he was serious about it was enough to tell me he was not out just for quick profits but wanted his coin and hard work to go on to something bigger and actually return larger profits long term. The community forced him to go back on that.

The community was asked and it replied. And, IMO, they took the fair choice as coin distribution was already a non issue. There was so much dumping in the start, plus so many waves of dumping from feb to april. By that point there was not much to "fix". The coins had circulated.

Why is everyone hating on pandher?

He asked a fair question. To code from regular signatures to ring signatures isn't exactly trivial, but at the same time I'd argue it's not overly challenging. Could you not say after block height x use ring signatures, and check signatures using regular signatures on addresses occurring before x? A private key would already exist which is helpful.

Pandher, what has the Monero dev actually done beyond simply cloning Bytecoin?
"Roughly 86% mined in 4 years", can't say I'm a fan of that distribution.

Darkcoin has incentivized nodes.
It will supposedly have I2P and ring signatures. If master nodes are delivered as promised, I don't see why these couldn't happen as well. With ring signatures master nodes aren't as important as mixers, so we could use them for broadcast points or some equivalent in the I2P fog. I don't think people understand what a great feature master nodes are for network stability and scalability. Bitcoin is suffering a loss of nodes because the blockchain has become so burdensome, all that upkeep/bandwidth for no reward.

Zerocash is not without its problems, which the creators have acknowledged. There might be some who would have an issue with trusting new cryptography.  See zerocash presentation slide:

I agree with that. I agree it was likely an honest mistake, and that the coins are much more evenly distributed now than the magnitude of the instamine would suggest. I'll even go further and say that the instamine will help the price skyrocket soon, because the daily inflation is now so low compared to the existing coin supply (which has suppressed the price up till now, until coins found their way to those who'll value them enough to not to sell them cheap).

The first thing the Monero dev did was to remove the pre-mine. No pre-mine. It looks promising.

You lose then, the dev launched a broken coin with huge block rewards and then reduced the supply to become rich overnight, how convenient, but at the expense of fools buying now lol

Claims to have "sold" MRO, but actually bought a ton, so now has to peddle MRO. Sad thing is our MRO community is growing steadily and has generally some of the best folks out there including hero members of this forum. Please do not take this troll fag for being a typical MRO miner/investor.

+1, I'm really liking that idea of having the masternodes as an incentive, especially with monthly payouts, its much more rewarding than hosting a node for bitcoin.

Can't wait for one of you genius's to set up an ebay type dark site.

A cam site would also get people using drk

You just need to use the format in place on the dark web, tweak it to normal use and that's it. Done.
Needs to be p2p. Does this exist in the (dark or otherwise) wild?

I was just talking about on the open web but as for dark net sites I asked about it here, doesn't look like it yet
