It's a good start. I like it. I think, if and when DASH becomes official, I will need to throw some DASH towards a design contest. Too early now though, as @etoque pointed out.

You are completely clueless about branding,  the more common the name and universally used in unrelated markets, the better it is as it does not convey any explicit meaning on its own. That means we can develop a brand around it in crypto with no worries. Your argument is like saying Circle or Square are not good in crypto because they are used in other contexts too.

I would not say he left, I think he is taking Spreadcoin as a learning experience as he is looking directly into the code. I still think of him as a member of the community and I am sure after his SPR experience he will be back contributing with his new found knowledge and his awesome gifs.

At first I thought that Evan was joking about the branding possibility, but now I see that most of you taking this possibility seriously.

DASH is widely used brand, associates with many things and this for sure could create some confusion in people who are not familiar with Evan's work and the cryptos generally.
I'm seeing also a possibility of legal issues with other organizations which actually own DASH as brand, especially in the financial sector.

The branding should be unique and when someone spit the word around, it must explain everything about the perfect eCash..
For example type Bitcoin in Google and see the result, then type DASH ...
Look also in  Darkcoin brand - it's simplistic but also elegant and unique and explains perfectly it's purpose - privacy.

If I wasn't involved with the project as investor/miner/supporter I would also be confused what to think..

I don't know where to start trying to explain why this (and most of the other parts of your post) are so completely and utterly wrong when one considers the thousands of examples of super successful brands that use a word or phrase that has no relevance/meaning to the product or service being offered.

Since the subject finally came up, I just wanted to take the opportunity to quickly (and as inoffensively as possible) get this off my chest:

You don't "loose" money.

You "lose" money and "loose" an arrow (as in, "let loose").   Just reminding those around here with otherwise perfect English that this sticks out like a sore thumb because the rest of your text is so awesome.
