Aahahahaha, Monero was not even there!

Not sure how this is on topic but Cryptsy did finally list Monero a while back.

Maybe the triggers for this Cryptsy feeding frenzy by the "Othoritees" is:

A] The exchange introducing USD markets which pops them square onto the targeting radar of the regulatory hyenas
B] Bitcoin being recognised as a commodity

Bitcoin is recognized, by the I.R.S. in the U.S., as a "capital asset" not as a commodity or a currency.

The CFTC called it a commodity because, you know, if their friends at the IRS and Fincen and SEC get a piece, they want a piece too. I don't remember seeing the CFTC in the list of alphabet soups reportedly going after Cryptsy (yet) so that's probably not related.

Dash is listed onCEX.IO, which is a site that I've never had any trouble getting funds in or out of. They still haven't updated the ticker symbol though! I don't know if anyone's been in touch with them, but they do have DOGE listed, so I imagine a ticker symbol change from 3 to 4 characters won't break the system, or require too much work.

There's not a whole lot of volume at the moment but it's possible to trade DASH/BTC and also to directly trade DASH/USD and DASH/EUR. Instant fiat deposits are available with VISA/MasterCard for 3.5% + $0.25/€0.20 and bank transfers are available for free.

edit: AstroPay (which I know nothing about) is also available for deposits.

Is this the market telling me somewhat impolitely that I'm not getting the 0.008-range priced top up I needed for a collateral multiple ?

Bawst'd. I didn't have any more BTC on the exchange to throw at it.

EDIT: F'ck me. We're nearly back at one. Not only that, the masternode count's gone up by about 5-10 overnight. Duffenomics is working.

Dammit! Only a fraction of my buys were triggered below 0.009 Sad Oh well, looks like the slow dump has subsided for now.

It is fun to watch but I don't get this price movement. BTC has - at Cryptsy - also skyrocketed and is now trading at $260.00 (??) while the average price is about $237.00. DASH is (Cryptsy also) at $2.60 while the price elsewhere is around $2.38.

Even if the people are panicking due to that fraud investigation news, what are they doing on Cryptsy to cause such a spike?

Buying it with fiat because you can (theoretically) get your bitcoin out NOW.

You may also want to park your ill-gotten BTC into a currency that can be near impossible to trace...?

Well I think some are panicking and putting all to one coin to get out ( at Cryptsy you can withdraw 3 times without fee )
So buying DASH as it is much faster to withdraw than BTC...

Yeah, but wouldn't this put a pressure on the BTC price? It also goes up...

Funny...

Not sure but looks like Otoh moved his USD/DASH buywall up to $2.60 on cryptsy.. This probably explains most of the dash movement as it arbs out over the exchanges. Might be wrong though. I'm sure Otoh will confirm either way...? ;-)

Such things usually happen when the exchange is having problems with fiat withdrawals. Like there were expensive BTC on Mt. Gox.

All the longer term trends were approaching the end of their correction periods anyway.

That little spike just pushed them into buying territory. The interesting thing is - a rare phanomenon - they're all beautifully in sync.

The 4-hour turned over last night - even without Cryptsy news. The 6 hour this morning (European morning that is). The rest have been edging towards the end of their correction for days.
