I hope "Support for 700 million users" means the network can support 700 million users at any one time. Or to put it another way, 10% of the worlds population can use the DASH network at the same time.

Can somebody at the event please confirm this or explain what it actually means.

Evan has spoken of capacity in this way before. In the past, he's based it on the assumption that the average user makes x transactions per day. The system can handle y transactions per second. Consequently, the system can handle ((86400 * y) / x ) users.

Gonna be PC here.  This is a Monero representative passing out leaflets.  I had to post 'cause it's still causing me belly aching laughs!  I figure everyone could use a good laugh.  That's the closest to greatness as that poor slob will ever get (Evan is in dark blue shirt ;P )

LOL. If you permit me, according to an Lombroso's analisis style, his shape would be of a Fucking Slob Friky!
(Tante, thanks to teach me the word "slob")

Get with the program.

Its XMR. He is obviously covering up his real true identity. Underneath, that's Brad Pit, would be my guess. But who knows. Superior cloaking device tech, and all that.

poor slob

I don't think we should be publicly traducing people that are unknown but who's photographs are published in the forum.

The guy is just innocently handing out leaflets and doesn't merit any online hostility. I don't think it's very respectful to post his image and call him a slob. I think that photo should be deleted. Many people attend these types of meetups and if they start being a target for political voyurism it will just sour the real community as well as the online one.

Technically I have to agree, but...
If he was dressed in a tuxedo, looking styled and sharp, we'd call him a sleazy scumbag instead of idiotic slob. The people are merely projecting their impression of Monero from this forum on him. It may not be fair (what is?), but it's natural.
Edit: We can't change how the internet works, so might as well go with the drift

Oh gosh, Tok, I wasn't thinking about his style.  Hell, you should see me.  As far as being a sloppy dresser - and fat,  I'm definitely #1.  It's kind of like Sod to the Brits.  Which of course isn't any nicer, but less of a comment on his appearance.  Again, I'm a very sloppy, hanging out with my chickens and getting pooped on, forgot to run a brush through my hair kind o hag.  So that's really not what I meant.  Apologies for that.

I deleted the picture per your request because I have the highest respect for you.  Just know, he might be Adam White because he later started rambling like him during the Q&A section??  And may very well be on the video Smiley

What does the 86400 represent?

((86400 * 1500) / 2 ) = 64,800,000 which is way off 700,000,000

I'm confused lol

So that's really not what I meant.  Apologies for that

I realise you weren't ill meaning in a personal way, Tante. But after you posted that, the picture just quickly turned into a metaphor for some of the online trolls and that is potentially not very healthy.

The offline community is nowhere near as toxic as some of these forum exchanges are. When you meet people in person you usually have a completely different type of exchange than in an online scenario where all the human intuitive signals that support a favourable and constructive interchange are stripped away. If people start posting pictures of individuals of whom they have no idea who they are and start using them for troll "target practice", that is the thin end of a wedge which can spill from the anonymous online world into the real world and I would very much like for that not to happen.

Put it this way, how would you like for your photo to be posted on a hostile forum to be kicked about by all and sundry as they see fit when you had never lifted a hostile finger to anyone and not even asked for your photo to be taken in the first place ?

I am having trouble coming up with what a decentralized API might mean. Is it something like etherium's decentralized code execution but restricted to certain API calls?

....meanwhile, back at the ranch. This Evolution stuff looks pretty amazing.

He's going for an absolute cash analogue. Instant, anonymous and instantly anonymous.

He must be pretty confident about pulling this off to have announced it so publicly. I also wonder what the "API" is all about. I mean bitcoin has an api - what's different about this one ?

It's taking everything to a new level.

Well, api = application program interface.  So I'm going to guess, not being a programmer or anything, that Dash will have information that can be "glommed onto" easily through some kind of programming "call"  I use "" because these terms may be used in programming, but I'd be using them completely wrongly....well, except glommed...

Anyway, so if you wanted information from the blockchain, I guess, the api allows you to create a program that taps into Dash, the network or the interface, or anything, and make your own application.  Kind of like a branch on a tree.  It's attached but separate entity.

What one might do, I'm not creative enough to think up.  Maybe side-chains could be done using this?

It's taking everything to a new level.

As always  Smiley

Men this is so great... the virtuous cicle...

Devs increase functionality -> infrastructure needs to increase + price rises -> masternode operators can scale up -> network scales and allows more users -> price rises -> masternode operators can scale up -> devs have power (and money) to increse functionality -> ...

And then it's just Moore's Law from there

 Cool
