Dash at $20 soon. Was at $2 eighteen months ago. Will be above $50 in one year (well above?).

Thanks to our dedicated pet trolls, who work hard for the success of Dash, in their own neurotic way. Keep up the good work, guys!

How can it be any different when a lot of supply is locked in masternodes?
None of the supply is "locked in masternodes".

Masternodes do not hold coins.

This is essentially an example of a distinction without a difference.

A user needs to "lockup" 1000 DASH in order to operate a masternode.

The DASH are "locked up" in a wallet because of said user wanting to "operate a masternode".

Gotta love the word splicing here.

Only the Instamine beneficiaries and the independently wealthy get to have Master Nodes.

The rest of us have to use Slave Nodes, over which Master Nodes have complete power.

That's supposed to be a good thing, according to Dash Logic.

The problem with that cult doctrine is that it goes against the concept, recently discovered by Nick Szabo, called social scalability.

The social scalability of an institutional technology depends on how that technology constrains or motivates participation in that institution, including protection of participants and the institution itself from harmful participation or attack.  One way to estimate the social scalability of an institutional technology is by the number of people who can beneficially participate in the institution. Another way to estimate social scalability is by the extra benefits and harms an institution bestows or imposes on participants, before, for cognitive or behavioral reasons, the expected costs and other harms of participating in an institution grow faster than its benefits.  The cultural and jurisdictional diversity of people who can beneficially participate in an institution is also often important, especially in the global Internet context.

When you raise to 1000 Dash ($18,000) the barrier to entry for running a full node (CONOP) you kill decentralization as well as the diversity of participants, which destroys social scalability.

Requiring Slave Nodes to trust Master Nodes also kills social scalability.

These two fatal flaws mean Dash is useless except as a pump-and-dump Ponzi scheme.

Of course all this is theoretical since Dash can't even scale from IPv4 to IPv6.   Cheesy

Emphasis on bolded section for those who are visually impaired.

Thanks smoothie.  I can't believe it's so difficult to have an intelligent conversation about the role Masternodes' high CONOP plays in determining Dash's (lack of) decentralization and social scalability.

Instead of constructive responses we see the usual knee-jerk accusations of trolling, which have have lost all meaning due to misuse against Gmax, coblee, Tone Vays, Ric Spagni, and anyone else who fails to clap loudly for Evan's instamined scamcoin.

Here's another problem with Masternodes.

Keep trolling boys!!! I'm warming up my garage for that new addition I'm buying.  Love you guys... Though I can't see your posts, I'm sure it's trolling of some sort...

You are DASH's lucky charms! It must be so disheartening to see that your feeble whimpering is doing nothing but drive us up.  So so sad.  Cool

Soooo boring

I didn't get, btw, why the fact that Evan could have been thinking of Masternodes as an issue. It was something that changed (and is changing) the market.

So, if he had it in mind early or thinking of it after some sort of "Back to the future" happening while cleaning the kitchen, i don't care. Bless he did.

Thank you for thinking of MNs, Evan!

Code:
dash-cli masternodelist status | awk '{print $2}' | grep -v ^$ | sed -e 's/,//' | sort | uniq -c
   3190 "ENABLED"
    309 "NEW_START_REQUIRED"
      4 "PRE_ENABLED"
    798 "UPDATE_REQUIRED"
     60 "WATCHDOG_EXPIRED"

A friendly reminder to masternoders:

NEW_START_REQUIRED - make sure you issued start-<mode> command from local wallet after you upgraded your remote masternode, you are NOT getting rewards otherwise.

WATCHDOG_EXPIRED - make sure you have sentinel installed correctly, you will stop getting rewards after spork14 will be on.

UPDATE_REQUIRED - spork10 is on and you are still running an outdated version, so you are NOT getting rewards now. Pls upgrade.

Sweet!  Approximately 4 days between my MN payments right now.  I think I was in the first 5% to upgrade to 12.1, so it definitely helps to upgrade your MN's early.

Yep, I'm seeing the same thing... All my MNs have paid out twice in 8 days  Grin Definitely paid off upgrading early...!

Paid 3 days ago.. hope the 4 day cycle continues for a while then! I would be sad to be among the masternode owners who have yet to upgrade, but hopefully they will start noticing missing payments and get the upgrade done.

One payment at these $20 levels pretty much pays for the VPS per month, the rest is car funding so that's great Wink

Although smoothie is in general a likeable contributor and not one I’d bracket with the more toxic variety, all the same his posts do serve as a great indicator of Dash bullishness. (In fact the same goes for the rest of them assuming they aren't all the same person  Cheesy )

I need to get this statistic added to Bitcoinwisdom ASAP !

Thank you for thinking of MNs, Evan!

According to Arielbits valuable research, and I'm paraphrasing, it does matter because Evan the Instaminer scammed everyone with the instamine. He then diabolically conceived masternodes almost at the beginning as a way to keep his scam going forever from masternode income, and it was all premeditated and he didn't tell us about masternodes until he had to. And dash is a scam. And it was instamined.

Meanwhile Icebreaker is concerned about IPv6 not being available to masternodes. He does care.

Smooth is also worried, I think about the cost of a masternode but for some reason won't consider sharing payments from one based on shared collateral.

The concept of a "Lazy Masternode" was pointed out by taushet recently. I also alluded to the same concept a few weeks ago (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg17760676#msg17760676). But this is just the first of many issues that the Masternode concept has.

Let's just assume for now that it's actually possible to check if a certain masternode provides the expected service. The network should check if a masternode has a full blockchain, is serving blocks to nodes who are syncing, is relaying transactions, is doing the privatesend coinjoin mixing and is performing the instantsend transaction "locks", ... This is not at all that easy to implement. It may not even be possible. It's not my job to prove it's impossible, it's the job of the DASH developers to show it's possible by implementing it in stead of just having a "Proof of Ping".

The problem with PoSe is that you can't differentiate between "lazy masternodes" and masternodes who have troubles with their connection. Currently, there is a 1 hour "grace period" for masternodes who are offline. If they manage to get online again within an hour, they don't loose their "spot" in the line for the masternode payouts. This is done to prevent DDOS attacks: if this grace period would not exist, it would be very easy for a big masternode owner to gain additional payouts by taking other masternodes offline. The higher the price of DASH, the more incentive there is to perform such an attack.

[Note that even with a grace period of 1 hour, this attack is still possible, you simple need to attack a node for a full hour. You can have some bad luck if the owner of the node notices the attack and manages to move his masternode to another server within an hour though.]

Back to PoSe... It's impossible to know if certain masternode has problems with their connection (for example because they suffer from a DDOS attack) or if this masternode is being lazy (i.e. not providing the service): Imagine a that the network somehow checks every 10 minutes if a certain masternode is willing to do privatesend. When the masternode is pinged to check if it's online and ready to provide the service, the network notices it's offline. Then the network can for example try again 10 minutes later to see if the masternode is now able to facilitate the privatesend. Again, it failed. The network will keep trying again and the masternode doesn't respond until his "last chance": at the end of the grace period, then the masternode facilitates the privatesend transaction.

So what happened in this example? Was the masternode just being lazy? Or did the masternode have connection troubles and managed to get back online just before the end of the grace period? Also note that all those failed checks slow down the privatesend process.

Conclusion: either the PoSe needs to get out of the window, or the 1 hour grace period needs to go. If DASH chooses the former, then it admits that PoSe is just BS. If it chooses the latter, then "The Great Masternode Wars" can start. Masternode owners will then have an incentive (depending on the price of DASH) to attack other nodes to gain a bigger masternode reward.

... and like clockwork the price ticks up as soon as they flood message the board  Grin Keep it coming guys... You've just paid for my new Audi over the last 2 days  Kiss

Yup...thanks to these trolls hard work...our value has gone through the roof.  I'm seriously looking at a '14 Ferrari California http://www.augustmotorcars.com/used/Ferrari/2014-Ferrari-California-646e32d00a0e08f749294b11d5b88e5b.htm to hang out our new race track right that opened right next to our winery... http://www.area27.ca/

Its an amazing course....check out the virtual tour. We'll see if I can pass that by the wife Wink, the car that is. Any DASH Nation peeps coming up this way...drop me a line. Wink

In the mean time....Thanks butt hurt Trelleros!   Keep up the good work in increasing our awareness.

PS.  Of course we all really know its been the hard work of many DASH Nation peeps and great dev team, with a professional attitude and some very dedicated people.  In no way do I wish to minimize the massive amount of hard you all have done.  Cheers DASH team!

the problem is that if you dump enough DASH to buy the car, there won't be much bid support left. Some small masternode holders will be able to cashout before DASH implodes completely.

My advice: buy that car asap.
