Bitcoin Fees Rise to Discount-Cancelling Levels as Lightning Network Use Remains Low

Bitcoin’s fees continue to rise as Lightning network relief remains elusive.

The Lightning network, Bitcoin’s prime off-chain scaling solution, has yet to gain significant enough traction and usability to provide significant relief to the network’s congestion issues. According to data from BitcoinVisuals, across nearly every metric from nodes, channels, capacity, capacity per channel, channels per node, and capacity per node, peak metrics were achieved around mid-March of this year, with a slow but steady decline since. Cryptocurrency YouTuber Omar Bham noted on Twitter that based on recent experiences the network is not yet ready for mass use, as its user experience is still lacking.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I checked, and currently bitcoin transactions can be confirmed with fees at 5 satoshis per byte. That's not the cheapest fees we can set to move bitcoin, but at least it is not too high than previous days. If someone are patience enough to wait, they can move their bitcoins with fees at 1 satoshi per byte. However, as always,  moving coins with altcoins, such as DASH is better option, especially when bitcoin fee rises like we have seen recent weeks. Altcoin transactions always have much cheaper fees, and DASH has another advantage with its fast transaction speed and very private feature if you want to customize your transactions.

Isn't this only a question of time until it becomes easier to use the lightning network and benefit from low fees?

Coinbase Research Shows US Crypto Adoption Growing, Omits Dash and New Hampshire

There is a significant growth in cryptocurrency awareness and adoption on a global level. The recent recovery by the cryptocurrency markets which dominated the second quarter of 2019 signifies a regenerated interest, after the ICO era of 2017.

Paying closer attention to cryptocurrency activities in the US, Coinbase recently reported that there is increased enthusiasm about cryptocurrency in the country. The leading cryptocurrency exchange claimed that more people in the US are viewing the emerging technology as a new way to participate in the financial system.

What's next after the LLMQ-based Instant Send activation? Will DASH finish its important upgrade with this activation to come? Or are there some few upgrading steps left (after LLMQ-based Instant Send)? I wish that DASH will finish its upgrades soon, then its price can recover well from the temporary bottom range. The coin has fallen gradually and significantly since its latest peak around 0.029 BTC.
