I have found this.

We're decided we're going to be changing the name of XCoin to something else. It's already kind of confusing to search for XCoin on Google and we want to differentiate ourselves from the other company using the name.

We thought it might be fun to actually let the community suggest the future name for XCoin. Any ideas?

Ps. The blockchain will stay intact, and it's merely a domain name change, some strings in the client, and the images.

Ps2. The addresses will still start with X, so keep that in mind for the suggestions

The winner gets 1000XCO! Let the competition begin.

I am so glad to know that.

That's already been awarded to the person who made the current coin design, now we want a proper business like logo.  More I think about it, the more I really like the top right, though I still like the bottom left because it's so easy to use the same design with different colors for any of the darkcoin technologies in the future Smiley

those logos above are fun and very gothic, but I thought we wanted to get away from the impression that we're somehow underground, and wanted to give an impression of main stream?

I did a little  instruction for the IRC bot who will give information, like latest diff/rewards and calculate your estimated rewards according to your hash rate.  Please check out https://www.darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-get-mining-info-from-our-irc-bot.211/

There can't be any discussion - these are all too colourful. The one that Evan really liked is definitely the slickest one. It's really sharp and aggressive and looks amazingly professional.
Too colorful? There are only 2 colors on logos showed above. Orange and gray ; blue and black. I don't think it is too colorful  Smiley

You're right it's not that bad. Of course this is the one I'm taking about.

It struck me right away as being the perfect mix of style and substance. It definitely looks like something I would use regularly to make payments. I can imagine myself saying "do you take darkcoin?" in any store in the future with a logo like that. Anyways that's my opinion of course.

If the community/devs decided on a color palette, it could be shaded as such.

I still have  soft spot for this one because of the potential to brand all the new technologies Evan develops with this kind of logo/different color combos.  If a person darksends by clicking a button on the wallet that looks like that, and they see the same logo later for other things, it'll eventually bring them back to Darkcoin, the originator.  Like free advertisement.  Not sure that can be required, but if it can, it'd be awesome!  This person made variations of the logo and I think they'd be willing to refine it.  I also like that it's colorful which contrasts the Dark name and pulls away from any illicit image the name might create.

I do like the sleekness of the grey design with the D, but it's really not that memorable to me???  It doesn't stand out beyond being sleek.

I'm going to be honest, and I apologize to the designer if I offend you, but that does not look as professional as it could. It's not a bad concept, it just is not polished.

As for the idea of branding new tech based on the same scheme, that really could be done with any of the other designs, it just was already done for this one.

Professional and brandable are the two biggest criteria we need to focus on. Look at vertcoin, it is a textbook example of the design we should be aiming for. I don't care if the design is "boring" or bland, as long as it looks professional, it doesn't matter.

The downside in terms of user engagement and trust of an unprofessional logo is 10x more than the upside potential of a fun or unique logo in terms of getting new viewers interested.

I really do not understand why this black and white logo is getting such support. The function of a logo is to either be unique or to intimate an aspect/quality of the entity it symbolizes (or perhaps both). This logo does neither. It's just a D displayed via a modern font design with nothing extraneous in the image. And that is "professional?"
