DRK does look interesting but most of us should know a bubble when we see one now. Only a matter of time until someone wants to cash out at 5x what they bought at. Just which big holder is going to crash the market first, leaving other holders, holding until next time.

I made 110x and I do not want to cash out now ! Grin

You didn't, lowest price of 1 dark was around 0.22USD/DRK back when it first launched and there was close to zero volume. Investing at that point would've 'only' gotten you a 22x increase in value. Stop telling yourself and other here lies.

How much you bet, with a print screen ?

I'm not betting anything but feel free to prove me wrong.

What about if he mined them?

Then it still wouldn't be x110 since he didn't really invest anything. (Except for power costs ofcourse but you can't base the 'investment' just on power costs)

Are you mining this coin in a profitable manner? If not, why are you continuiing to mine DRK, instead of simply buying?

And the traders are hyping and cashing in hard on this coin, providing no intrinsic value to the DRK eco-system (?)

The miners should just continue to loose money while others are making huge gains simply buying?

So (most) miners loose money, yet we are a fundamental layer in the DRK eco-system..
So (most) buyers/traders gain money, but what's the value to DRK..

Miners = sheeple ? :|

1) Like any startup business there is time and money invested up front.  This time and money is invested with the hopes of a return on investment based on a sound business model over time.  DRK is young and very much in startup mode.  The business model is sound AND THEM SOME.

2) So much talk of what can I reap from DRK and very little talk of how I can support DRK.  DRK is more than it's current value with relation to xyz fiat current unit... it is a paradigm shift in how people can trade with each other, divorced from a banking monopoly of fiat currency.  It is also a paradigm shift away from what bitcoin and others are doing with little anonymity in transactions.

3) DRK is an important milestone for the future of humanity!  I am not overstating this... it is an integral system that will challenge baking monopolies AND those that which to control AND/OR regulate currencies, fiat or crypto.  I see the real "SHEEPLE" wasting time on discussing DRK and how it is: up / down / to the moon / correcting / pumped / dumped / etc., and very little attention is paid to the real intention behind DRK.

5) I choose to put my time and money behind DRK because I believe it is ability to challenge the current currency structure in place.  I applaud Evan and Kyle in their devotion to the project.  I will support DRK even if it costs me time and fiat currency notes to do so!

6) I have wasted time and money on SO MANY TRIVAL THINGS in my life.  Even if DRK tanks, at least I supported something that I felt had the chance to change the world for the better... and those actions had a value!

7) If my DRK investment in time and money ends up worthless in the end... at least I have some kick ass GPUs and associated equipment.  I can then use that high powered equipment to play the latest graphically intense games... and with new time and money I will invest it in gaming.  ;-)

There were people selling 10k blocks for a quarter of a BTC back at launch. Back when BTC was around $700-$800 iirc.

So what stops the power that be buying all the nodes? Are you implying then aren't billonaires out there that couldn't do it?
Apart from the fact it would drive the price so high they couldn't print the fiat fast enough, stubborn old arseholes like me.

What fiat? What matters is they would have control of the whole thing, so privacy is over.

The question was about buying the nodes. Implicitly, money would be involved.  Huh
Attacking/subverting nodes or coercing node ops is a different argument.

Nvidia GTX770
Using updated CCMiner 3.0 (14th May): http://cryptomining-blog.com/2422-updated-ccminer-1-0-beta-with-improved-performance-for-x11-mining
Pool I found to work with CCMiner 3.0: tcp://stratum1.suchpool.tw:3335 and apparently this works also: https://www2.coinmine.pl/drk/ but have not tested it.

And I was about to sell it for a R9 280x!!  Glad this ccminer update came out!

EXACTLY !
Thank you for these words !!

We should switch our attention again back to the important things !
(The price is fine and rising, do NOT worry !!!)
To keep that price going we need to put some work into it, there is more to do than just buy and sell  !!

WHAT CAN WE DO FOR DRK ?!
I think we need a good list from Evan and others what is needed for DRK
and where we (the community) can support !

Is there a trading thread, or is this the right place to post WTS?

James
China is buying DRK!
I think all the BTC money in china is moving to DRK
Coinmarketcap #3 is actually possible now

James

Then why do you want to sell?
And funny, user MyFarm just quoted today when he send you 1000 drk Smiley May be you donate some of that - would be nice to have a dark charity wallet. May be we can get this started in the future
Those were the good old days a three months ago Smiley
I remember that horrible CPU farm with 2 gigahash, took hours and hours to get to the difficulty readjustment. Cost me $500+ in server costs, which at the time 1000 DRK was a nice gesture. Tell me more about this charity wallet

Fantastic progress made here!
I guess the wallet messing up maybe was a sign to hodl the DRK
Its just worth so much now, I remember clearing the orderbook on poloniex when it was .0002 four days after it was listed. Had already quadrupled from .00005, so the guy saying 22 cents is a bit off.

So 200x gain is definitely possible for the ones here from the start.
Anyway, it is probably dumb, but I determined my exit point at .01 and since we are here, I am selling
I only have 20,000 left, probably will keep a few thousand so if anybody wants to do a large lot purchase PM me

I prefer NXT, but I will accept BTC. A trade this large will certainly still move the market so it is better for both sides

My wallet is all messed up, it says 9999 unconfirmed. Does anybody know how to kickstart things. probably have to reload the blockchain?

This is very true, but you must understand that DRK has been undervalued for a long time and a lot of people are only discovering it now, so some excitement is to be expected, specially here. Now is the time to switch to www.darkcointalk.org for a more directed discussion, long time dark supporters are getting organized and starting to work on specific tasks to help support the coin and continue to build an economy around it.  All new dark supporters make sure to pay a visit to www.darkcointalk.org and register!

DRK does look interesting but most of us should know a bubble when we see one now. Only a matter of time until someone wants to cash out at 5x what they bought at. Just which big holder is going to crash the market first, leaving other holders, holding until next time.

Lets see...

Litecoin is worth $300m because it is silver to bitcoin's gold, has faster transaction times than bitcoin and is going to.......let me think for a minute......nope, not sure why I would want to use it?

Darkcoin is worth $20m and is the first electronic cash for the internet.

Yep, Litecoin is in a bubble.

How is it first? What about Bytecoin (BCN) ?
