Masternodes take their income from newly issued coins (10% of newly issued coins).

That would be a good problem to have.  Smiley

As for the master nodes please don't forget that there is a hard limit of 10k master nodes, should all 10,000 be utilized it will take 10m DRK out of circulation.

The masternode payment fork has been postponed until May 25th due to
some issues on testnet over the last couple of weeks. A few issues
have cropped up and we want the code to be more thoroughly vetted
before turning it on for mainnet. This is expected to take less than a
week, but to ensure we have enough time we've chosen May 25th.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/postponing-masternode-payments-till-may-25th.578/#post-3427

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Release date: 11PM EST, 18th January 2014 / No premine

Hard Fork on Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Specifications

  • Super secure hashing algorithm: 11 rounds of scientific hashing functions (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, echo)
  • Block reward is controlled by: 2222222/(((Difficulty+2600)/9)^2)
  • CPU/GPU mining
  • Block generation: 2.5 minutes
  • Difficulty Retargets using Dark Gravity Wave
  • Est. ~22M Max Coins
  • Decentralized MasterNode Network
  • Superior Transaction Anonymity using DarkSend: Release Candidate 1 on MainNet

Coin Information
Darkcoin is the first privacy-centric cryptographic currency with anonymous block transactions powered by DarkSend. We currently have a fully functional public Release Candidate for DarkSend, see Downloads below.

Darkcoin now has a new kind of hybrid reward system similar to POW with POS.  Those who run masternodes being rewarded via 10% of the mining rewards.  Masternodes must put up collateral to run, and yet are paid for the work they perform.

Darkcoin uses a new chained hashing algorithm approach, with many new scientific hashing algorithms for the proof-of-work. This is so that the processing distribution is fair and coins will be distributed in much the same way Bitcoins were originally. ASICs will be much more difficult to make for these algorithms and should take years.

Darkcoin is the coin that introduced Dark Gravity Wave (DGW) to adjust the difficulty and protect the network from large fluctuations in the difficulty.

With chained hashing, high end CPUs give an average return similar to that of GPUs. Another side effect of the algorithm is GPUs run at about 30% less wattage than scrypt and 30-50% cooler.

Why I like DarkCoin
By Jesse Livermore

I like DarkCoin because I can imagine a not-too-distant future where 99.999% of all available DRK is locked up in master nodes thereby making my non-master node-connected DRK be priced as I wish.
Evan has successfully designed and created the most insane positive feedback loop that has ever existed in the capitalistic world.

1 question though:
-Why the hell can't I buy DRK with fiat yet? (I would rather not buy through other coins' USD conversions on moolah, coinbase, etc)

JL

Very interesting point. How will the masternodes receive an income if most of the coins get consolidated into masternodes? Would there be low liquidity and low volume due to consolidation? Low volume would mean low income for the masternodes?

There is an excellent balance Evan created.  Nobody will want a masternode if the payments are so low as to not be at all profitable.  Certainly even 50% of the coins being tied up in masternodes would be undesirable.

And if all the coins were tied up like that, they would be of no use to anyone.  It should naturally balance out in the end though.  Remember, the end game is to use the coins, not horde them.  And Darkcoin is uniquely positioned to enable the building of a decentralized market system, through those masternodes.

Masternodes will be a tool, not the end all of the system.  Not even close.  All levels must work together, Masternodes, Coins and the marketplace/exchanges.

They called me troll for saying price didn't make sense @ 0.006.

They called me troll for saying that I would buy after it made sense. Right now it's @ 0.0047 and I still think it's high.

Watch out who you listen to in these boards guys.

Anybody have any idea what's gonna happen when Europe wakes up?  Will the price go up more dramatically, correct some, or stay about the same?  I think it's about 6:30am in western Europe.

Extreme profit taking. Anyone who isn't trading this is a meat head. I've almost doubled my DRK holdings today by trading the swings.

Nothing in DRK makes income for processing transactions. Is that right? All the bonus incentives for mining come down to the fact that the coins will be more valuable due to some of them being sought after for creating masternodes? Will there be an end to Proof of Work at some point? Will the masternodes be the ones that will make all of the passive income in the future?

Just curious how this works. not found any flaws to criticize yet.  Grin
