I am not a troll but I honestly don't understand how it's possible to start paying masternodes from block rewards without hardfork.
We already had the hardfork to start paying them, but then had to switch them off temporarily. The fix & switching back on doesn't need a hardfork.

But wasn't that temporal shutdown carried out by a (yet another, very quick) hardfork just like the earlier start of the payments was?
How does the network know if masternodes should be paid or not?

pool updates probably.

smart guys...

i want to really hear evan to report the cause of fork!

I was very eager to initiate an all-in the panic buy in the moment when Evan posted an update (because I figured the price will bounce back if his news are great). But honestly, I wouldn't touch the DRK market with a stick until somebody explains this (with not too much technoblabby but not just a short scifi magic wizard tale about giant metal dragons).

Some one correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I can see the fork to support masternode payments was made and successfull.
Later some problems were found because there were some MN/clients in older versions that caused (back?)forks.
So Evan launched a patch so that the correct nodes simply ignored the older ones and patched pools to stop the payments...

To sum up things we are in the correct fork that allows MN payments.

I have the same confusion as janos666 over why it would not require another hardfork to restart masternode payments and/or to increase the amount of the mining reward that is allocated to masternodes.

It's usually just called X11.  You already have a description on the 2nd page: "super secure hashing algorithm consisting of 11 rounds of scientific hashing functions".  Calling it X11 will result in all X11 coins being at the back of the book, I assume.  Maybe (depending on how you're categorizing coins) you could call it "Multiple" or "Miscellaneous", but it is definitely not Scrypt.

So we still on to set up a donation addres for Evan to fund a great Dev team?

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/masternode-payments-and-beyond.921/
I've concluded that XosX (http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/address.dws?188207.htm) is Evan...so I think he's doing alright.

Any guesses for #2?

Man the #1 wallet just won't quit (he was #2 there for a while at 314159.xxx DRK) now he added enough to make it 333 333 DRK and reclaim the top spot.

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/#!rich

Hopefully weak hands learn how to make money by example.

This whale spent over 5k BTC+ in DRK. What you have to ask yourself now is, did he initially earn those 5k BTC+ by dumping when everyone panic sell or by buying when everyone else panic sell? He added 19k DRK to his wallet today, think about it.

Buy when everyone else sell and sell when everyone else buy, that's how you make money out of crypto.

this guy must be one of these guys?

Here is the unfinished section for Darkcoin in my future publication called Cryptocurrency "The Alt-ernative" Reference Book.  Please say if anything is incorrect.  If anyone wants to help me complete a certain section, please do.

Any donations towards this project are welcome - XdoMpS6wX63TVBma9EG53PG2VJnMnSPJ3d

Coin logo has been changed.

And the "History" part could use some refinement. Maybe someone who knows the history of Darkcoin could come up with something better in 2 minutes. Any volunteers?

It won't. It requires a hard fork and Bitcoin will not hard fork for DarkSend, nor jeopardize regulation issues.

It doesn't require a hardfork if the coinjoin organizers aren't paid by block reward, but instead by those they are coinjoining for. Or better yet, it would be decentralized and no one would be paid at all.

Re: regulation, the Bitcoin foundation is claiming transparency etc etc. If they go the "shady" route, they can't claim the same.

Re: hardfork, how do you provide a dis-incentive for having nodes that map coinjoin transactions in your scenario?

Quote
TL;DR PoR is an oxymoron because you can't construct a proof that you are offering a resource.

If you delay payments for a couple of blocks, can't everyone see who did actually offer a service and pay them? There is no hurry to pay in the same block.

Re: mapping coinjoins, I assume you mean logging which inputs match with which outputs. This doesn't need an anti-incentive to prevent, you can simply make it so it isn't possible to log through the use of blind signatures.

Re: Bitcoin foundation, they aren't involved with this decision. All it takes is one person to implement it and upload the implementation Smiley

Re: delaying payments, no, it isn't possible to have consensus that way. You can check yourself, but anyone that's offline will need to trust someone. This means if the party they trust lies, consensus is broken.
